Introduction

Creatives For Community
Hey everyone! Recently I've decided that I want to get more directly involved with my community. And today I started the next steps to that: Creatives For Community. Right now, this group is mainly online but I hope to eventually have actual in person meetings with local creators. At the moment I've set up an Instagram and discord server. And for those people who have access to mobility devices but might benefit from a second chair they can abuse without risking expensive damage…
Erik Kondo has made a website, Open Source Innovations, that details plans for DIY wheelchairs. These wheelchairs can be made from common materials like wood, plastic, and pvc. They are lightweight and can be custom fit to the user allowing from the same degree of movement you would get from a custom chair. And they are durable and easily repairable. (he has been stress testing his latest design by dropping it down stairs, dropping it out of a car, launching it across a driveway, and throwing it off a deck). Its 12lbs and I think he said its was in the $200 ish range for parts.
He also is working on cheap, open source, accessible designs for beach chairs, off road chairs, motorized attachments (think smart drive), and so on. Plus he skateboards in his wheelchair. Cool dude, helpful info, pass it on.
It's incredibly sad people have to resort to this, but it's a damn good resource. Use it. Spread awareness. Maybe one day people with physical disabilities won't need DIYs like this. But until then, reblog and share.

The Art Spot
Today I started a new project called The Art Spot. Basically, it's the art equivalent to trinket trades or the Little Free Library where people can trade art, get art supplies, and/or donate art supplies. I'm excited to see how it does! If it goes well, I hope to get a sturdier container.

Motherhood (2026)
Happy Pride Month Everyone!
In honor of pride month, I want to take the opportunity to talk about Kiyoshi Kuromiya. I first learned about him through a social media post and decided to study his life for a large history class project this past year. I found that he contributed a significant amount to activism in general, and yet not many know about his story.
Kuromiya was a civil rights, anti-war, gay liberation, and HIV/AIDS activist. He was born May 9th, 1943, in the Heart Mountain Japanese American internment camp. His activism began in the 1960's during the civil rights movement of which he'd work alongside others like Martin Luther King Jr. He was also there for some of the first organized LGBTQ+ protests in the U.S. In 1968, he led the largest anti-war demonstration in the University of Pennsylvania's history, opposing the Vietnam War. After Stonewall, Kuromiya would co-found Philadelphia's chapter of the Gay Liberation Front. He also co-produced Philadelphia's first ever gay newspaper called The Gay Dealer. In 1970, he would act as an openly gay delegate to the Black Panther Party Convention.
Kuromiya would be diagnosed with HIV in 1989. From here Kuromiya would begin educating himself on the disease and organizing resources for the queer community. Some of those achievements would include creating the Critical Path AIDS Project, successfully helping to fight against the Communications Decency Act in 1997, and editing ACT UP's Standard of Care. Kuromiya would continue to protest until the end of his life. On May 10, 2000, at the age of 57, Kuromiya would pass away due to complications from AIDS and cancer.
This is just a very brief summary of Kuromiya's life and legacy. If you would like to learn more, I've attached some links about him below. I'd highly recommend checking them out. If you know of any other lesser-known figures from queer history, please feel free to add them onto this post as I'd love to hear about them!

Keep Chasing Creation (2026)
I want this post to get as big as my hopepunk post because this needs to be internalized by you people.
When it comes to conversations on environmentalism and taking care of our planet, we are doing a disservice to progress by asserting black and white statements that humans are “inherently evil” and “all we do is take and destroy, we are so selfish,” when the reason the Paris Agreement exists is because we saw what was happening to the planet and we wanted to try and fix it. We saw what was happening with acid rain and the ozone layer, so we came together and mended our mistakes.
Immediately making conclusions that humans are a plague on the earth itself is taking accountability away from greedy corporations that are actually doing the most harm to the earth. Yes a lot of humans are very evil, and some of those humans are unfortunately running the government, but to say they represent the larger species of the human race is reinforcing the idea that 1: You people just want to place blame on a collective group of people like you always do, and 2: You sound complicit as hell in the face of evil, assuming that’s just how humans are and there’s nothing we can truly do.
That’s some fucking bullshit if I’ve ever heard it.

apparently this is not common knowledge among punk diy sewists but if you’re sewing patches / doing any sewing that requires pushing a needle through multiple layers of fabric, use a needle grip. they’re little rubber things that have excellent grip on the metal needle so you don’t have to pinch the needle as hard. you will save your fingers soooo much unnecessary pain.
there’s two main types. the basic type is just a little circle of rubber that you fold around your needle, and the fancier type is a little rubber cap for your fingertips. they’re very cheap, under five bucks for the fancier kind and less for the basic, and they last forever. you can buy nice ones from your local craft store or steal them from the quilting section walmart idc. if you’re in a pinch (pun intended) and can’t go out, if you have a non-slip mat under a rug, cut off a little corner and that will work decently. please treat your fingers kindly <3

I know intersex people are still getting excluded in a lot of LGBTQIA+ spaces (let alone wider society) and I think it's crucial to show this group is included in the statement that we all deserve equal rights.
