To Milan and back

As you might have already heard, we are keen exhibition-goers, especially when it comes to shoes...always ready to travel the world round to research into the craftsmanship and the latest trends.

Shoe exhibitions is exactly what we have been pursuing before the first Viviela designs were finally brought to life. Tell you more, we still can't stop seeking inspiration in other designers and...other cities. 

Last weekend we both jumped on the plane to the fashion capital Milan to see Micam shoe event. As it was mentioned in some shoe advertising slogan "Italians do it better" and you better believe it now! Milan is the place, where charm, art and great taste all meet. Can't imagine no other pair of shoes, rather than made to perfection and elegant, walking down those enchanting streets...

We had an amazing time, enjoyed the exhibition, long walks and great friends. So now, back to London with loads of pictures, memories and lookbooks we wish to share a piece of Milan with you...

Gracing the MIMI.C catwalk

Milda Cergelyte, a fashion designer behind the demi-couture label MIMI.C knows how to rock Viviela heels. We saw that live last night at her invitation-only Spring-Summer 2013 show hosted at the celebrity hotspot The Rose Club Mayfair. 

Viviela shoes got the whole new avant-garde twist, as the models  stepped out  on the improvised catwalk all covered in rose petals. The new collection was inspired by Japanese Yakuza Mafia. Marveling at those intricate and textured pieces, we thought it was more about Mafiosi going uptown, being grown up and show-stoppingly chic. An absolute killer.

There has always been a bridge between fashion and design/architecture. However, every time I find another evidence to that, I feel deeply touched. 

This year Vivienne Westwood, the godmother of British avant-garde fashion  has created an entrance to Decorex. This luxury interior design show is going to celebrate its heritage and everything that has ever worked as inspiration for its historical moments.  The actual original design of the exhibition space foe by Westwood is still to be unveiled...

As an architect going shoe designer I am looking forward to the former fashion designer's take on architecture/interior. I believe that all creative minds think globally and one thing we certainly do better than anyone else is pushing the boundaries.

Weekly inspiration from Vivi

There is an eternal source of inspiration and energy for every single artist of every time. It can never get boring and it hopefully will never wither away. If we think for a minute, what sort of imagination was needed to create something like nature out of nowhere? The shades of the sea, the shape of the palm leaves…Incredible, isn’t it?

I’ve taken some pictures from Mediterranean seaside to remind us all of those peaceful and ever enchanting corners of Earth that are always only a plane flight away from our routines. Remember that...

Weekly inspiration from Ela

I recently went to the art gallery in Westfield and fell in love with the works by Xabi Etcheverry. I even remember telling Vivi to try the same technique in her own art. 

Etcheverry is a Japanese photographer, who did an original collaboration with an artist Luciano di Concetto. They blended photography and painting by applying acrylic covering onto the photographic prints. No wonder my favorite is the picture above. But it's probably  not only about shoe designs this time. Etchverry tried to portray the life and survival in modern Tokyo. Its consumerism, rhythm and fashion. All images are limited edition collectables and can be ordered with the original acrylic covering.

We are launched

Hotel Verta in London Battersea has seen our official launch party on Thursday 26th of July.  Fashion industry insiders and people from our close friend circle were all celebrating in chic. We were watching helicopters landing, sipping champgane and enjoying the beautiful company around. 

Let's cheer for the exciting start-up and all the great things waiting ahead!

Welcome to the Viviela Blog! 

We are two old and close friends, Viviane Leal De Melo, a Brazilian painter and Ela Meneghetti Rocha, a Lithuanian born architect.  We have spent years planning and dreaming about launching our own shoe brand...And today we are extremely excited to introduce the world to our first autumn-winter collection.

As an architect and an artist, we both share a great passion for design. As two close girlfriends, we share yet another passion...a passion for beautiful shoes. 

Viviela style is very grown up and confident. We seek to achieve elegance and the highest quality in every single pair we design. Our first collection is hand made in a family run factory in Spain and inspired by our beloved city, London. 

This blog is going to be the space to share our inspiration, ideas, designs, news and loads of love...
