the tears didn't stop, they only intensified when you heard the click of the basement door and the sound of her footsteps echoing down the stairs as she came near.
"you're still crying?" ha sooyoung scoffed, leisurely trudging to you. she crouched down to your level, thumb coming up to wipe your tears as she cupped your cheek.
"why don't you listen? i only love you!" you broken voice cracked, sobs reducing to sniffles. you looked up at her through your wet eyelashes, eyes glassy and red.
"do you? do you really love me as much as i love you?" she asked condescendingly, tilting her head to the side, her bangs framing her face perfectly while you were distraught on the inside and out.
you meekly nodded. sooyoung found the sight adorable, you looked so vulnerable, so naïve it made her coo in her mind. her hand raised itself to your hair, harshly pulling at it.
you shrieked, your hands trying to pry hers from its tight hold on your hair. she didn't budge, her expression remained calm. "please." you whimpered in pain.
"if you really loved me you wouldn't have left with him, but you did." she tightened her hold, snickering as you desperately clawed at her hand, face scrunched up in pain.
"he took advantage of me, i was drunk!" you exclaimed between choked sobs. the dim light that entered the room shone on her face, providing enough reflected light for your eyes to see the distatefulness she held.
"so many excuses you have, sweetheart. lying is easy for you, isn't it?" she finally left your hair and stared as you slouched down, palms trying their best to soothe your burning scalp.
"i.. i didn't, i swe—swear, youngie." you whispered, the sweet nickname you always used flowing off your tongue. she'd heard you call her that for the first time since she left you here in the cold basement.
sooyoung felt her stomach do the thing it did many times when you were around, she knew you didn't do anything wrong, it was a mistake. you were drunk off your mind that night.
however, all her eyes saw were you leaving with another guy's arm around your waist. she didn't see the many shots you took beforehand, or the drugged shot he gave you at that time.
the image of you leaving with a man, not a woman, not her, with a man. it was etched in her mind. you were supposed to have a girls night with your friends, that was what you told her when you kissed her goodbye.
you'd exclaimed the same sentence that you were drugged, you didn't cheat on her, yet she wasn't keen on listening. had she not been so controlling, you wouldn't have had gone to party.
your friends had been complaining that you never went out with them, you knew they were right. the thing was, sooyoung didn't like when you left her alone much.

she wasn't this way at first. she was sweet, kind, a little quiet, she made it easy to fall for her. her charming smile, nice demeanor, each act helped her weave her way into your heart.
once she knew you were too deep in to leave her, her true colours showed. suddenly it would be best to have you move in with her, simple to spend most of your time with you, it was normal to be with her and her only.
as she stayed over your slumped body, gently caressing your cheek like you were the most fragile thing right after she almost ripped your hair out, she couldn't help but to smirk and shake her head.

"really?" you asked, it was not everyday somebody came to give a hand. she nodded, happy to help. you were speechless, but you were more tired, so you pushed the questions that rose to the back of your mind.

after that say, she started coming up unexpectedly in different ways. first, you saw her in a convenient store. then, in the café you always went to. third, in the arcade you decided to go to with your friends. after, in a ramen restaurant where you went to as you didn't have the energy to cook.
somewhere along the way, you two went on dates, fell in love and you moved in with her.
something you weren't aware of though, was who she really was and her intentions.
ha sooyoung had a twisted mind. she though and moved calculatedly, worked diligently and had a knack for getting anything she wanted, by nook or crook.

she almost lost her shit thinking of how to expose herself to you. eventually ready with a perfectly planned strategy, she stood outside your building, umbrella in hand, mind steady, heart racing, waiting for you to come out, she was aware you didn't have an umbrella.
when she saw you leave with a man at the bar that fateful night, she was fuming. the fury that swirled in her was enough to set the world ablaze.
she couldn't burn the world, but she could torture you. it wasn't like she didn't know you were drugged, she was aware, she plainly didn't care as a matter of fact.
even in a drugged state, the way you still went with him, it was enough for her to snap. she already took care of the guy, took care of him so well he'd been reduced to mush by the end of her torturing.

I feel like this just suits him so so well. The soft melody and the emotional words, a song about not knowing what you are to someone. What the relationship is. But being okay with just being, being theirs. Being so hopelessly in love that you take what ever the person gives you, even if they don't truly care.
And I think a sweet sad song like this suits him. He's friendly and warm, normally a perfectionist but with love? He's just so in love that he doesn't see the bad.

It's so whimsical and youthful like lots of her older music (this is from the " patched up " ep!!) And it really suits Riki, especially the dancing metaphors. The coolness of her vocals and the flow of the song really have that smoothness that he carries himself with. Confidence and suave but such a little weirdo under it all.

You scroll through instagram, lazily lying on the couch in a hoodie and shorts.
It's a cool night, the city looks pretty, you just took a shower—you typically would've been watching a movie right now, waiting for Riki to come home so you two can have dinner and then cuddle together.
But you can't help but lie in bed, your thoughts groveling at the back of your mind after you see a story of Riki and Moka from ILLIT together from the behind the scenes of a show they did together.
You know their relationship is just work-related, but seeing her with him strikes a small place in your heart.

Riki recoils, taken aback by your words. "Why would you think something like that, baby?" He asks. "Did one of your friends say something to you?"

Riki takes your small hands in his large ones, thumbs rubbing soft circles on the back of your palm. "You're right," he says.
Your heart plummets to your stomach, your eyes widening in shock. "W-What?" You'd always suspected it, but it hurt to hear Riki say it himself.
"You heard me," he continues, acting like he didn't just break your heart in half with two words. "You're not pretty. You're absolutely gorgeous," he says with a teasing smile, although you can see depths of love in his brown eyes.
He lifts one hand to his lips, placing a chaste kiss on your knuckles.
"I'm not too good for you, I actually don't deserve you at all," Riki murmurs. You can see the sincerity in his eyes. You can see how much he believes he doesn't deserve to be with you, how he believes he's lucky to have you. "But I'm going to work for your love everyday. Just like how you're going to promise me that you'll never say anything like this ever again. Yeah?"
"Yeah," you say in relief, not realizing that you've been holding your breath.
One hand leaves your hand, reaching out to cup your face. Your breath hitches at the touch. It's warm and adoring. It's full of promises.
"Can I kiss you, baby?" he asks quietly.

The moon and stars illuminated the dark entrance as you quietly entered your residence carefully not to disturb the rare tranquility. Setting your items down you tiptoed up upstairs to change out of the tight corporate wear that was required by your company.
As you crept up the stairs, you saw your daughters bedroom cracked opened ever so sightly with her nightstand light on.
Thats strange.. its nearly 10PM, she should be fast asleep by now.
You softly creaked the door to check on your daughter, who was sleeping on your husbands lap with messily applied makeup all over his face. Quite the scene if you asked me.

On the other side of the rink, Sunghoon skated gracefully his hair pushed back by the soft wind, he looked so graceful. How jealous you were of your husband. He came swooping by picking up your daughter carefully.
"there, there no tears today sweetheart" he cooed, his mittened hand wiping her tears. " we'll go get some cocoa how about it" he said as he set her down off the ice.
"Oh my gosh Sunghoon you cant keep spoiling her every time she cries" you said sighing at you carefully skated over.
“She’s scared!” he said hugging to keep her wails at bay
"No. she's dramatic and knows you'll crumble" you deadpanned.

HEESEUNG y/n was sitting on the floor of the library, trying to look normal while definitely not watching heeseung from behind a book about frogs. heeseung, in his oversized hoodie and messy hair, looked like he walked out of a dream. or a really cute music video.
"hey," he said, suddenly right in front of her. y/n's heart jumped out of her body and ran a lap.
"hi," she whispered, cool and she was totally not blushing.
"i saw you staring," he grinned, plopping down beside her. "was it the hoodie? it’s giving mysterious heartthrob, right?"
y/n laughed, "more like confused puppy."
he pretended to be offended, but his smile gave him away.
and then he pulled out a cookie from his pocket.
"wanna share?"
she took it.
and maybe also his heart a little bit.
they were the perfect pair. like cookies and hiding in the library.
JAY y/n was horrible at science. like. epically bad. explosions-in-the-lab bad.
so when mr. choi said “you’ll be partnered with jay”, she nearly evaporated. jay, the guy who smelled like vanilla and wore rings and somehow made safety goggles look good.
“don’t worry,” he said, smiling as he handed her a beaker, “we’ll get an A… or at least avoid setting the school on fire.”
y/n giggled, already dropping something. Water. he just laughed and helped her clean it up, his fingers brushing hers.

by the end of the project, they had a half-working volcano, a weird inside joke about frogs, and jay had written “the perfect pair” on their report cover with a little smiley face.
“that’s us,” he whispered before walking away.

and he did. like full-on superhero mode. arms out, jumping around, getting hit instead of her. she was standing there like a confused little lettuce.
“you okay??” he asked after the game, sweaty and breathless.
y/n nodded. “you literally got hit ten times.”
“worth it,” he said, smiling like he meant it. “we’re the perfect pair, remember?”
she didn’t remember agreeing to that.
but she wasn’t complaining.
especially when he gave her his juice box after. strawberry. her favorite.
SUNGHOON y/n had never been ice skating before. so naturally, she thought she was gonna die.
and of course, sunghoon—figure skating legend, pretty boy, and certified menace—was the one who decided to teach her.
“just hold onto me,” he said, holding out his hand all casually, like this was no big deal.
y/n grabbed it like her life depended on it.
she slipped once every five seconds, and every time, sunghoon would laugh—soft and sparkly—and catch her.
“you’re doing so good,” he said, even though she was basically a human noodle on skates.
by the end, she could barely glide, but he still gave her a high five and said, “we made a good team, huh?”
“barely,” she said.
he grinned. “we’re the perfect pair though.”
and suddenly, the ice didn’t feel so scary anymore.
