Sunlight spilled through the curtains in golden, long lines creating a soft, warm glow that made the room feel cozy.
The curtains didn’t stop the sun from hitting your face, waking you up from your deep slumber.
Letting out a deep sigh, you slowly open your eyes and stretch your arms over your head, listening to the faint sounds of birds chirping outside your window.
It’s saturday so you didn’t have to be anywhere today. On days like this you like to just bask in the quietness that surrounds the air around you. Slow mornings, no alarms, no expectations… you wish it could be like this every day.
However that peace didn’t last long though.
Not when your boyfriend’s soft snores filled the quiet room.
A small smile tugged at the corners of your mouth despite yourself. You used to find his snoring annoying but along the way it became oddly a comforting sound.
Turning onto your side to look at him, you couldn’t help but admire how peaceful he looked.
So innocent. So unaware. As if nothing in the world could ever harm him.
Messy curls fell across his forehead, some strands covering his closed eyes while the rest stuck out in every direction. His lips were slightly parted, soft snores leaving him every few seconds.
The faint morning light highlighted the sharpness of his jaw and the tiredness still resting beneath his eyes. Even asleep, he looked effortlessly beautiful.
Reaching over, you carefully brush the curls away from his forehead. Almost instantly, his nose scrunches up in annoyance.
You couldn’t help yourself but let out a small giggle at this habit.
“Are you done staring at me?“
You slightly jumped at the sudden sound of his voice. You thought he was asleep.
“You’re awake?“ Your voice came out in a whisper despite both of you being awake.
“Mhm“ he hummed, eyes still closed.
“Since when?“
One of his eyes slowly opened, a lazy smile pulling at his lips. “Long enough,” he muttered.
Heat immediately rushed to your face. How embarassing.
“Oh.”
A quiet chuckle left him before he finally opened both eyes, his arm instinctively finding your waist beneath the blanket, pulling you closer.
“You think I mind? You can stare at me all you want.“ His voice has a hint of amusement in it.
Letting out a groan, you hide your face in his face, hoping to hide your embarrassment. But he wouldn’t let you.
He laughs quietly, one hand slipping to your back as he tugged you just close enough to make you look at him again.
“No hiding.“ he murmered.
You let out a small sigh, still avoiding his gaze for a second before slowly looking back at him.
His eyes softened instantly the second you finally met his gaze, as if he had been waiting for it.
“There you are“ he said quietly, thumb brushing slow circles against your back.
You pretended to be annoyed but the warmth in his expression made this harder.
“You’re enjoying this way too much.“
“A little.“ His smile widened. “You’re so cute when you’re flustered.“
You groaned again, though it came out weaker than intended. “Please stop talking.“
“Can’t do that.” Pulling you even closer, he rests his forehead lightly against yours.
“Not when you were staring at me like I hung the moon.”
“I was not.”
“You were.”
A small laugh escaped you before you could stop it and his expression immediately softened even more at the sound.
For a moment, neither of you said anything. The room stayed quiet except for the soft rustle of blankets and his steady breathing. His hand remained at your waist, absentmindedly tracing patterns while he looked at you as if nothing else mattered.
“You know what?” he asked after a second.
“Mhm?“
“I love you. So much.“
Your heart skipped embarrassingly fast at that. It’s not the first time he has said those words to you - quite the opposite. But no matter how many times you hear them, your heart can’t help but skip a beat.
“I love you too.“
Lifting your chin with his finger, he pressed his lips softly against yours. His thumb brushed along your jaw while you slipped your fingers through his hair.
After a few seconds, he pulled back and gave you a gentle smile. “Not a bad way to start my day.“
You shook your head, giggling despite yourself and tucked your face against his shoulder again. This time he let you and pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head.
“Comfortable?” he asked quietly.
“Yes.“
As silence settles around you again, you bask in his presence and slowly drift back to sleep.

It was just past nine pm when you arrived home from work. It’s rare that you come home this late but your boss asked if you could work overtime since many of your colleges are sick. You didn’t mind though. Baking wasn’t just a part time job- it’s your future.
Ever since you were five, you started baking with your grandma. Cakes, brownies, cookies… you name it. When your grandma passed away after battling cancer for years, it turned your entire world upside down. It felt like a part of you died with her too.
However she made sure to leave something behind. Her handwritten cookbook. Even after struggling, she made sure to leave you all her recipes. That’s when you knew baking is something that you want to do for life. It’s your passion. And through baking, you carry her spirit with you.
You dream of opening your own bakery one day. A warm and welcoming place where people can enjoy homemade treats and one where you can share your love for baking with others.
Fishing your keys out of your purse, you slowly open the door. Lately your boyfriends schedule is very chaotic so it’s not unusual to find him already asleep at this time. You don’t want to risk waking him up.
Taking your shoes off and placing your purse on the small table, you make your way to the living room.
But you stop at the sight in front of you.
The living rooms light is on and there on the couch sits your boyfriend.
He’s leaning forward, his head lowered, elbows braced on his knees. His brown hair looks messy - as if he ran his hands constantly through it.
At first you don’t do anything. Just standing still. Watching him. Clearly somethings wrong and you don’t even know if he knows you’re home.
Now wanting to startle him, you softly call out his name. “Juhoon?“
He looks up in surprise, as if only know realising that you’re standing in the same room as him. His eyes look glossy.
Looking somewhere on the floor - avoiding your eyes, he clears his throat and only says “Hey.“
Usually when you come home to him, he can’t wait to have you in his arms. Hugging you as if he hadn’t seen you since years.
Juhoon isn’t shy when it comes to expressing his feelings. Far from it. He always makes sure to let you know how he feels about you. That’s why it feels so easy being with him. Because you know he means what he says.
So him greeting you like this… as if you’re just an acquaintance feels wrong.
Taking the remaining steps to him, you kneel down in front of him. ”Why are you just sitting here? Did something happen at work?“ you ask.
Shaking his head, he looks at you for a second and in a firm tone exclaims “We need to talk.“
You feel your heart sinking to your stomach. Hands getting sweaty, breath coming out too fast. Your fight or flight response triggered by just his tone.
The cushion dips under your weight as you sit next to him. “Okay…about what?“ you mumble.
Ranking his hands through his hair, he leans his head backwards and lets out a deep breath. For the first time he really looks at you.
His gaze lingers on you, heavy with something unspoken—like he’s carrying too many thoughts at once and none of them are easy.
“You know I love you, right?“
Someone starting a conversation like this… you know that can’t mean anything good.
“Yes.“ Your voice trembles despite your best efforts to keep it steady.
“But I just… I don’t know how to do this anymore.“
Your throat tightens, eyes burning. “What are you talking about?“ You hesitated asking him - afraid of his answer.
“Us. This whole relationship. I’ve been so busy y/n. My schedule is inconsistent and i’m barely here. What’s the point in continuing?“ He exhales slowly through his nose.
Silence hits the air. You just stare at him, mouth agape. Where is any of this coming from? Just two days ago, you were cuddling with him on this exact couch.
“Juhoon… are you serious? I don’t understand why you’re saying this.“
His jaw tightens at the sound of his name, like it physically hurts him. “Please don’t make this any more complicated.“
For whatever reason this struck a nerve. He’s the one trying to break up with you and you’re the one making it complicated?
“You don’t get to do this. Okay?“ You hit his chest with your finger, telling him firmly “You’re trying to ruin this relationship with no warning whatsoever so you don’t get to tell me that I should just accept it.“
He doesn’t flinch when your finger hits his chest. He takes it because he knows that’s the least he can do.
“I’m not trying to ruin anything” he answers quietly. “Don’t you get it? I’m trying to protect you. You don’t deserve this. Me being half here, cancelling plans, showing up exhausted, distracted -
He stops for a second, dragging his hands down his face.
“I don’t want to hurt you.“
Your chest aches.
“So what? You’re just going to end this? Give up on us? On me?“ Your voice breaks at the end and you hate yourself for it.
A flicker crosses his face—something painful, something close to guilt.
“Please don’t say it like that. You think I haven’t been fighting this?“ he asks, voice low. ”You think I just woke up one day and decided I don’t care about you?“
Your whole body is trembling now. You don’t get often angry especially with juhoon but you can feel your frustration slipping away.
“What I know is that you decided to end something that we build over years without even taking me into consideration. Does that sound like caring? Because it doesn’t to me.“
His silence is answer enough and it makes your anger rise.
“You don’t get to decide what I deserve,” you say, leaning closer. “You don’t get to look at me and just—just erase us like it’s nothing. Like we don’t have years of history together.“
His jaw tightens but this time he doesn’t stay quiet.
“I’m not erasing anything.“ he snaps, the first real crack in his voice.“ I’m sitting here trying not to destroy you before it gets too late.“
”By leaving me?“ you shoot back. “That’s your way of not destroying me?“ You can’t help but scoff at what he said.
He runs a hand through his hair, frustrated now, no longer as controlled.
“I don’t know what you want from me!” he says, louder this time. “You want me to stay and keep failing you every day? Keep showing up when I’m mentally not even fully here?”
“You think I can’t handle that?” your voice rises to match his. “You think I’m just going to break because you’re tired? Don’t you know me? If I couldn’t handle this I would have left long time ago.“
For a moment he just looks at you.
“I know you can handle it. I never doubted that.“ he admits quietly. “That’s what makes it harder.“
A beat.
“Because you would. And you would keep doing it. And I don’t want that for you.“
His words hang in the air, heavier than anything said before.
Then he lets out a small breath that almost sounds like a laugh—but it isn’t.
“I don’t want that for you,” he repeats, but quieter now. Less certain. Like he’s saying it to keep himself upright.
“I keep telling myself that what I’m doing is the right thing” he says, voice uneven. “That if I really care about you, I should let you go before I mess this up even more.”
A pause.
“But I don’t think I actually want to let you go.”
Your anger doesn’t disappear but it shifts.
His throat tightens visibly as he looks at you again but he can’t hold your gaze for long.
“I just don’t know how to do this,” he admits. “I don’t know how to be everything that my fans, staff and members need to be and still be… enough for you.“ His voice breaks.
“I’m barely here. And when I’m here? I’m always too tired to do anything with you.
“I started wondering… maybe one day you’ll look at me and just feel tired too. Like I do.”
Silence stretches.
His breath coming out in heavy bursts.
“I don’t want you to hate me” he says suddenly, smaller now, almost like it slipped out before he could stop it.
He looks down, blinking too fast. “I don’t want you to remember me as someone who made you wait for nothing.”
His shoulders tense, like he’s trying to hold it in—but you know his body as much as you do yours. His control is slipping away.
And then finally, his voice breaks completely:
“I don’t want to lose you.”
He looks up at you again and his eyes are glassy now.
“I just don’t know how to keep you either.”
For a second you just stare at him. Trying to take in everything he just confessed now.
All the anger you had a moment ago doesn’t know where to go. It hits a wall and dissolves into something deeper.
“So don’t “keep“ me. I’m not one of your schedules that you need to manage“ you tell him softly but in a firm tone.
“You’ve got this version of me fixed in your mind because of other people’s experiences. But that’s not me. I’m not tired of you. I don’t resent you. How could I?“
You cradle his head between your hands. “I love you juhoon. So much.” You choke out. “So don’t give up on us. Please.“
A sob rips from his chest, raw and uncontrollable. His forehead drops forward until it rests against your collarbone. Too weak to hold himself up anymore.
”I’m sorry. I just want you to be happy.“
Your heart softens at his words. A part of you - the one that cares deeply about him wants to comfort him but you know this won’t make a difference.
”Look at me juhoon.“
After a moment, he slowly raises his head and looks at you. Strands of light brown hair are falling messily over his eyes. His eyes are puffy, wet from all the tears.
Even in this state he still looks beautiful.
Brushing his hair away, you look him deep in the eyes and tell him ”I’m happy when i’m with you. Don’t you get that? I don’t care if we’re not talking - just being next to you is enough. I don’t need more. I just need you.“
His eyelashes flutter faintly at your words.
You continue, not giving him a chance to answer.
“When you have doubts, come to me. When you’re stressed, come to me. When you’re scared, come to me. But don’t decide for yourself about our future. Do you understand me?“
He inhales sharply, like it finally hit him that you won’t leave him. That you will stay by his side.
Then slowly his hands come up to cover yours where they’re still holding his face. His grip is warm, trembling slightly.
“I understand” he whispers.
The room falls quiet after that.
Not heavy this time. Just still.
You watch him carefully as he wipes at his face with the heel of his hand, embarrassed now that the intensity of the moment is settling. His breathing is still shaky but he has calmed down.
His eyes, red-rimmed and filled with exhaustion, stay on you and his expression softens.
“I love you“ he says quietly.
Your chest tightens at the sound of it.
He leans even closer, one hand sliding around your waist as the other pulls you gently into him. You go without resistance, your arms wrapping around him instantly.
The second you’re against him, his hold tightens. It feels complete.
“I love you too,” you whisper into his shoulder.
His head dips against yours, eyes closing as he exhales slowly and for the first time that night, neither of you says anything else.

The sky is pale and overcast, a cold breeze making you clutch your cardigan tighter. Leaves rattling on the sidewalk as you walk toward his street.
Today is the day.
Ever since ni-ki invited you yesterday to study at his house, your stomach hadn’t stopped twisting with nerves. The thought of being in his house - maybe even his room - made your heart beat faster and your palms clammy.
You kept telling yourself it was just another tutoring session, but the butterflies in your stomach said otherwise.
As you make your way to his house, you tug lightly at the hem of your frayed denim shorts, the sheer black tights underneath doing little to warm your legs. At least the Ugg boots keep your feet warm against the cold.
You should know better than to go out in an outfit like this when it is 2°C outside, but you want to look pretty.
For him.
It’s the first time that you care this much about what a guy has to say about you. It’s confusing. You’ve never felt this way about someone before.
Before you realise it, you’re standing right in front of his door. Too aware of how fast your heart is beating. Telling yourself that everything will be fine, you take one final deep breath and knock at his door.
It takes a few seconds but then he opens the door.
And he looks absolutely beautiful.
His lanky build stands tall - towering over you, black hair falling over his forehead, his chest pushing against his blue hoodie over grey sweatpants.
And his eyes… those smouldering brown eyes that draw everyone’s attention on them. You can’t get enough of them.
You’re pretty sure you’re drooling right now but you don’t care. You’ve never seen a prettier man than him.
He’s leaning against the door, arms crossed and tilts his head. “Hey, you.” His voice has a hint of lightness in it, his eyes twinkling.
Blinking a few times, you clutch your bag closer to you and clear your throat. “Hi” you breathe out.
Ni-ki’s eyes rank over your body and you suddenly become hyper-aware of your outfit. Maybe this was too much. You didn’t want him to think that you purposely wore a short skirt - it was the only one you had left.
“You look good” he says before stepping aside to let you in. He softly closes the door behind you and then there’s pure silence. Just him standing right behind you, way too close.
“Uhm… you too” you mumble, too distracted by his presence to think clearly. Maybe this was a bad idea. Words barely exchanged and you already feel like a mess. But you can’t leave and neither do you want to.
He laughs. “Thanks. Can you turn around? It kind of feels funny speaking to your back.”
Slowly you turn around and meet his eyes. You can’t get over on how intense his gaze is. Being here - in his house, just the two of you, feels way too intimate.
Even tho you rarely spoke to him before he started giving you tutoring sessions, you weren’t blind. Someone like ni-ki is impossible to ignore and not just because he’s tall. He has this relaxed vibe around him. The one that draws people in. He walks into any room like he owns it, his movements deliberate, as if he has no care in this world.
These past few months you’ve come to notice that despite his hard interior and that intense gaze of his, he actually cares a lot.
He makes sure that you understand your teacher’s lessons, that you write everything down and if you miss your class, he’s the first to inform you. Not your friends. But him.
He’s always ready to help someone no matter how busy he is with something else. He makes sure to not hurt any girls feelings when rejecting them, being patient even when he already explained himself multiple times.
Perhaps that’s why you are falling for him. Who doesn’t like a softie inside?
“If you don’t mind, please take your shoes off. My mom is kind of a clean freak. You know… asian moms.” he chuckles lowly.
“Don’t worry, my mom’s the same. She never fails to remind me to take my shoes off before I even stepped a foot inside” you smile at him. “Are your parents home? It’s really quiet.”
“They went on a date. That’s their thing.”
“Cute.”
“Anyways enough about them. Let me show you around.” You’re caught off guard when he suddenly takes your hand and leads you to the living room. His hand is so big compared to yours, palms soft and smooth. The butterflies in your stomach increase.
While showing you around, you get to learn that he has a smaller brother by 5 years. He revealed that he asked his parents to drop him off at his aunt so that he could focus on you. Said that his brother likes to pull stunts when his parents are gone and can’t afford to babysit him today.
After showing you the living room, he takes you upstairs and you find yourself being in his room.
His room is neat and smells faintly of whatever cologne he uses - kind of wood like. His king sized bed is unmade, sheets messy like he just got up from them. A small black nightstand stands next to it and in the far corner is a small desk with two chairs, one from the kitchen he brought upstairs.
He goes to sit at his desk, motioning to the chair next to him. “Sit.“
Taking slow steps, you walk up to him and take your seat. There’s barely any space between you. Clearing your throat, you take your notebook out and show him the exercises that you don’t understand.
The first ten minutes, you were able to focus on what he said. Everything was normal.
But then his head leaned forward and you could feel his breath hitting your cheek. Either he didn’t notice or didn’t care because he continued playing with his pencil while explaining to you. You tried to listen, you really did but it was too hard. Not when he’s this close to you.
His knee is touching yours. You didn’t move away. Neither did he. You thought he didn’t notice but the way he‘s brushing his knee on yours clearly indicates otherwise.
“Aren’t you cold?“ His voice was deep, speaking slowly.
Your heart raced. “What?“ you asked, voice coming out way too fast.
He looks down at your thighs, raising his eyebrows at your shorts. “It’s super cold outside. Don’t you think shorts are too unsuitable for this weather?“
Your entire face heats up. Not sure how you’re supposed to react, you just shrug. “The tights and cardigan are keeping me warm, don’t worry.“
He just keeps looking at you with that unreadable expression. It’s too much. Sitting so close to him in his room while he’s looking at you with that hungry gaze feels way too personal.
After a second, he drags his eyes slowly away from yours and tells you to try to solve the exercise.
Trying to read, write or focus is impossible. Your nerves are firing up everywhere, breath coming out quickly, heartbeat beating way too fast. Your whole body is on fire.
His presence is too strong. He’s still. Unbothered. Like this moment didn’t happen at all. You take a glance at him. He’s scribbling something down, his jaw clenching, a small crease between his eyebrows.
You know you should look away - stop ogling him but you can’t help it.
Ni-ki lifts his head towards you, asks “You okay?“
It seems as your voice has completely disappeared because you don’t answer. Just continue looking at him.
He slightly shifts in his seat and turns completely towards you, knees still touching. He has a big smirk on his face. “You know… i’ve been thinking a lot about us.“
You swallow hard, your breath hitching. “Us?“
“Mhm.“ Without breaking eye contact, he tugs a strand behind your ear. “Don’t you think we have something?“
Your lips parted but no words came out. You were frozen, not knowing what to say or do. Didn’t dare to move an inch.
Watching you like he already knew you wouldn’t say anything, he leans forward, noses nearly touching. “I like you yn.“ he mutters, voice so low you thought you were hearing wrong.
But then he says:
“And I think you like me too.“
Your chest rose with a sharp, deep breath. His eyes flickers down to it, briefly, then back up. The room feels tense. Quiet.
You want to say something. Desperate to tell him that he’s right but you are as silent as a mouse. Too scared to break this moment.
Ni-ki doesn’t seem to mind tough. He finds it adorable. He doesn’t need words when your body is already betraying you. Hands fidgeting, legs shaking, breaths coming out in quick bursts.
He slides his had behind your neck, looks you deep in the eyes and softly asks. ”Can I kiss you?“
Your pulse thundered in your ears, loud and urgent. Too afraid that your voice will creak, you bite your lips and nod.
That’s all he needs. He tilts your heard upwards and presses his lips on yours. Softly, gently as if testing how you’re going to react.
After a beat, you start kissing him back and his hand tightens. The kiss got deeper, firmer. Control slowly slipping away. He’s been waiting so long to do this.
Everything’s quiet around you. The world holds no importance. As if only you two matter. Breath mingling. Lips swallowing every sounds.
He pulls back just enough to catch his breath but then he’s kissing you again. Cradling your head in his hands, he pushes his tongue into your mouth.
You’ve had your fair shares of kisses but not like this. Never like this. It’s a new feeling - one that you love.
Feeling bold, you wrap your arms around his neck, and suck on his tongue. He lets out a groan, taking your waist between his hands and pulls you on his lap. Hands sliding along your spine, pressing you into his chest. The only sound leaving your mouth are filthy moans.
You don’t want him to ever stop. If there was one single moment you could remember for the rest of your life, it would be this.
The kiss slows down, only last peck given and he pulls slightly away, a string of saliva connecting his mouth to yours. You whimper at the loss.
He chuckles, lowly. “Fuck. You don’t know how long i’ve been waiting to kiss you.“ He caresses your cheek.
Biting your lips, you try to contain the giddiness you’re feeling inside. Knowing that he feels the same… you can’t help but feel like you won something. “Really?“
“God, yes.“ he smiles at you.
“Yn, I’m serious about this. I want you - not just physically. Not as your friend or tutor. I really like you. Let’s give us a chance, please?“
He’s staring so hard at you, silently begging for a yes.
“Okay.“
His smile grows even bigger. “Okay?“
You can’t help but laugh. You’re so happy, you could scream. “Yes, ni-ki. I like you too.“ The happiness evident in your voice.
Pulling you even closer, he kisses you again. This time slower, steadier, taking his time.
Because you’re his now.

The alarm wakes you up. It’s six am - two hours until you have to be in school. Stretching your arms out, you let out a long sigh. This is going to be a long day.
Looking down, you see jake’s head nuzzled into your chest, completely knocked out. His brown fluffy hair is messy, his lower lip stuck out in a pout and cheeks flushed with a faint pinkness.
He looks adorable. Like a clingy puppy.
You hate to wake him up on his free day but there’s no way you can get up with the way he’s laying on you. His right leg is draped over yours, hand wrapped around your shoulder, his head a heavy weight on your chest. Even in his sleep, his hold is strong.
Running your fingers gently through his hair, you call his name. But he doesn’t wake up.
Through those two years you’ve been dating Jake, you come to understand that he’s a deep sleeper. Usually it takes you about five tries to wake him up but you don’t have the time for that now.
Shaking his shoulder firmly, voice too loud for this early, you try again. “Baby, wake up. I have to go to school.“
He lets out a loud groan, nuzzling his head further into your chest, not responding.
“Jake, please“ voice coming out more urgent.
Lifting his head, he puts his chin on your chest and looks at you with big, sleepy eyes.
Even tho you’ve got somewhere to be, you can’t help but notice how cute he looks.
He blinks a few time, voice raspy. “Why did you wake me up? It’s too early.“
“Did you forget that not everyone has a free day like you? Baby, I need to get ready for school.“
“So?“
What is wrong with this guy? As much as you love him, he’s starting to get on your nerves.
Scoffing, you throw your arms up. “What do you mean “so“?? Jake, I can’t get ready if you’re laying on me like a human weighted blanket. Please get up.“
“But I don’t want to“ he mumbles, wrapping his arms around your waist. “You’re so comfortable and warm.“
Jake has always been super clingy even before you guys got together. He would “accidentally“ brush his hand against yours or stand too close to you. You don’t mind the clinginess though- you love it. It’s what makes Jake, Jake.
But you do hate it when you have to be somewhere important. Like now.
Not wanting to arrive at school stressed, you take a slow deep breath and use the strategy that always seems to work.
Slipping into your overly sweet voice - one that has never failed you and caressing his cheek, you coo at him. “I know, baby. If I could I would stay with you but I can’t. The moment I’m back, I will give you a ton of cuddles. You can even lay under my shirt. What do you think about that?“
“No.“
Your brows furrow. No? Jake is so easy to convince. Especially when you bring up cuddles and allow him to lay under your shirt. Something that he absolutely loves doing for whatever reason.
You aren’t proud of manipulating him - even if it’s not done in a harmful way but sometimes nothing else works. He never says no. So you’re confused.
“Why not?“ you ask.
One of his hands move up, tugging a strand behind your ear. He looks at you with a pout. “I don’t like being away from you for so long.“ he mumbles.
Your heart softens. You love him so much.
“Me neither. But baby, I can’t just miss school so I can spend the rest of the day in bed with you.“ you tell him softly.
Jake lifts your shirt and starts pressing soft kisses on your stomach. A sudden breeze of air hitting your revealed stomach, making you suck it in. But that’s nothing compared to the way his soft mouth feels against your skin.
Pressing one last lingering kiss, he comes up and kisses you on the lips. You know you shouldn’t but you kiss him back. Forgetting the fact that you have to be in school soon.
Pulling slightly back, he tells you. “Yes, you can. Just take today off.“ He gives you another kiss. “You’re perfect. You never missed a day, your grades are the best and you’re a good student. They won’t care if you miss one day. Please baby“ he pleads, a hint of neediness in his voice.
You’re going to regret this. Definitely. But this feels too good.
“Fine. You won. You’re a terrible boyfriend.“ You don’t mean it and he knows that.
Letting out a low chuckle, he rolls on his back and pulls you on top of him. He looks at you like you’re his entire world. “No, I’m not.“
Sliding his hand behind your neck, he slowly pulls you down and kisses you. It’s soft, gentle, intimate. There’s no rush.
Nowhere to be.
He kissed your firmer, his other hand sliding to your waist, squeezing it. Your whole body feels hot. Pushing your tongue in his mouth, he lets out a loud groan. You feel his hands roaming down, taking your ass into his hands. Kneading it.
You tug at his hair, you know that he loves when you do that.
He pulls back, those pretty pink lips slightly swollen from the kissing. He bites his lips, eyes full of heat. “Fuck baby… you got me horny this early“ he breathes out.
Feeling your face heat up, you bury your head against his neck. “You started this. Don’t blame me“ you mumble.
“I’m just appreciating my girl.“ His lips brush against your cheek.
Removing yourself from his neck, you look him in the eyes. “You’re so clingy.“
A soft smile tugged at his lips as he looks up at you, hand caressing your cheek.
“Only for you.“

Some days, the thought of disappearing felt more comforting than it should.
You couldn’t explain why. Not to your friends, not to your family - not even to yourself. Nothing was wrong, right? At least not in a way people could see.
But the weight in your chest refused to leave.
It sat there stubbornly, pressing down on your lungs until you couldn’t breathe anymore.
And tonight it felt unbearable.
The living room was quiet, filled with the soft sounds of the movie playing on the TV and ni-kis faint laughter from beside you.
His arm is draped over you, his hand gently caressing your shoulder like it always did. Usually you would lean into him, let yourself relax and enjoy whatever movie choice he once again came up with.
But not tonight.
You’ve been staring at the same spot since the movie started. You can’t find it in yourself to pretend that everything is fine.
Because it’s not.
You woke up at 5 am, a time that seems to be your new normal and you could immediately tell that today was going to be exhausting.
That heavy feeling of lostness was back.
You don’t even remember when you started to feel like this. It just happened. Most of the time you feel stupid. There’s nothing wrong.
You have a good life. Supportive friends, your parents love you and ni-ki? He’s the greatest thing that has ever happened to you. He’s always there for you, looking out for you and reminding you to take care of yourself.
But even his presence doesn’t seem to help.
“Are you even watching?” ni-kis voice was light with a hint of amusement in it but when you didn’t answer, the laughter in it faded.
“Baby?”
You don’t even realise he’s speaking to you, too lost in your head. You turn towards him, avoiding his concerned eyes. “Sorry, what did you say?”
“You seem quiet. Are you okay?” he softly asked.
For one second, you feel like just letting everything out. Telling him about your burdens - but you decide against it.
You don’t want to bother him.
You rub your eyes. “I’m just tired” you half-lie.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
You could tell he wanted to dig deeper. NI-ki knows you inside out; he can tell when you aren’t being honest with him.
“Okay… let’s go to bed then. We can watch the movie tomorrow again.”
You just nod your head as he takes your hand and leads you to the bathroom. You brush your teeth next to each other - a small routine that you both hold dearly.
You don’t have the energy to do your skin routine, so you just go to bed, staring at the ceiling.
You feel the bed dip next to you. His arms wrap around you, warm and steady. A soft kiss lands on your forehead and he whispers “I love you.”
You fight the tears back and bite your lips. “I love you too” your voice cracks.
You don’t know how long you’ve been trying to fall asleep. It’s 2 am and sleep refuses to come no matter how much you try. Ni-ki’s head rests against your neck, his breath soft and steady. A part of you envies how calm he seems.
The weight in your chest hasn’t let up all day. You try to push it down, push it away but it only keeps getting stronger.
Then the thoughts started.
The ones you tried so hard to ignore.
I don’t want to be here anymore.
I should just die.
I’m a burden.
You pressed your palms against your eyes, hoping the feeling would disappear the way everyone said it eventually did.
It didn’t.
You can’t stay here anymore. You don’t want to risk waking him up and finding you in this state. But you can feel the panic settling in - your breath coming out in sharp, fast gasps.
Not wanting to make any sound, you gently remove yourself from ni-ki, feet barely touching the floor as you tiptoe towards the living room.
You sink into the couch, hugging your knees to your chest. The silence is heavy and your heartbeat feels too loud.
For the first time in a while, you let the tears you’ve been holding back for so long, spill.
The sobs shake your entire body, uncontrollable and raw. Your lungs burn, your vision blurs, your hands tremble as you hold yourself. Everything you’ve been holding back these past few months comes crashing down and it feels like it might never stop.
It’s too much. Too heavy. Too loud. You hold yourself tighter but the pain is too strong. You just want it to stop.
All of a sudden, you feel a shift in the couch, heart racing — and realise ni-ki is there. His hand rests lightly, grounding your back.
„Yn?“ he whispers, his voice shaky.
You don’t know what to do. You press your hands to your face, trying to steady your breathing but it only makes the sobs harder to hold back.
„Baby, please look at me.“ he urged.
You shake your head.
He tries again, this time more firmly but still as tender as possible.
You don’t want to. Looking him in the eyes will just break you down further.
And yet… you ache to feel him, to hear him tell you everything will be fine.
Softly, you lift your head and meet his eyes.
He leans closer, brushing a stray tear from your cheek. You can’t look away, even if you wanted to.
“Baby… you’re crying. Tell me what’s going on,” he said, his eyes wide and worried, searching your face.
You shake your head, voice barely a whisper. “I… I don’t know.” You avert your gaze.
He lifts your chin with a finger. “You don’t know?” he asks softly, stroking your cheek.
You grip your knees tighter against you and let out a slow breath.
“It’s… I’ve just… been feeling so heavy. I don’t know why. I can’t… explain it,” you stammer, trying your best not to crumble.
He shifts closer, carefully wrapping his arms around your frame. You feel yourself leaning into him as he rocks you softly, hand brushing your back in slow, soothing motions.
“Talk to me, baby. I’m right here. You’re safe with me. Please… tell me everything.”
You start telling him how you’ve been feeling down for the past few months, how you keep drifting into your own mind and can’t seem to pull yourself out of this lostness.
He listens attentively, never interrupting you, his eyes soft and unwavering, letting you pour out everything that’s been weighing you down.
You press your face into his chest, trembling, scared of saying it out loud. “Sometimes… I get these thoughts.”
His whole body tenses, and the hand that’s been rubbing your back this whole time stops. “What kind of thoughts…?” His voice is barely a whisper, tight with worry.
You don’t want to worry him, but you know ni-ki. He won’t be able to just move on from this — acting like nothing happened. So you take a deep breath and finally acknowledge them.
“I sometimes feel like I want to… disappear. Like maybe everything would be better if I wasn’t here anymore.” Your voice trembles as you cry into his chest.
It hurts to admit this - not just to yourself but also to him. He’s going to think that he didn’t pay enough attention to you, that he has failed you. Because why else wouldn’t you come to him?
His hands tighten around you, fingers pressing into your back. He swallows hard, chest rising and falling too fast, heart racing. He wants to be calm, patient, gentle. Hear you out and understand how it came to this point but the words shake him to his core.
He grips your shoulders firmly, leaning as close as possible, voice low but commanding.
“Yn, listen to me. Look at me. I need you to hear me. You are not alone. Do you understand me?”
His gaze is wide, dark, full of fear and pain - the total opposite of your usual confident, carefree boyfriend. You truly realise how much your confession is affecting him. He’s terrified of losing you.
You look away, overwhelmed and guiltily whisper “I’m sorry.”
The words hit him like a punch to the chest. He pulls you as closely as he can, afraid that you will disappear from his arms.
“Don’t… don’t apologise,” he chokes out, voice cracking. “I’m the one who should be sorry - for not seeing your struggles, for not being there for you when you needed it the most. I’m so fucking sorry, baby. I love you so much. I can’t… I can’t lose you, Yn. You hear me? I can’t.” His voice gives out at the end, his face buried in your shoulder, quiet sobs shaking his chest.
You wrap your arms around him, running your hand through his hair. For a while neither of you say anything. You just sit there, clinging to each other, quiet sobs and shaky breaths filling the room as everything you’ve been holding back unravels.
After a moment you pull back slightly, wiping his face.
“I don’t want you to blame yourself. This isn’t your fault,” you whisper. “I just didn’t want to burden you. But I don’t want to feel like this anymore. It’s exhausting. And I don’t want to leave you. I really don’t.”
He cups your face gently. “You could never burden me, okay? Whatever you’re feeling, no matter how hard it is, we’ll face it together.”
Eventually, you both pull back just enough to stand, still holding each other as he leads you to the bedroom. You slide under the covers together, ni-ki’s arms immediately wrapping themselves around your body. Your face fits perfectly against his chest - as if it was made solely for you.
For the first time in a while, the weight in your chest eases.
A soft, lingering kiss is pressed on your forehead.
“I love you“ he murmurs faintly.
“I love you too.”
Your breath slows down, eyes closing and sleep finally takes over you.

The coffee shop smelled strongly of warm milk and freshly ground coffee beans with something sweet lingering in the air. Probably vanilla syrup. Usually, those scents reminded you of comfort and late nights spent drinking coffee with your friends.
But not tonight.
Tonight, the atmosphere felt too heavy. Every time the door opened, your heart raced. You couldn’t focus on the comfort that is usually felt here - not when you were waiting for him to walk through the door at any moment.
Ni-ki and you share a class together. In the beginning you guys barely talked much with each other but that changed a few months ago.
Ni-ki is the best math student in your class. Always getting perfect grades and praise from the teacher. You, on the other end, keep failing almost every test. Covered in red correction marks and quiet disappointment.
So when your math teacher announced that there was going to be another test, you started panicking. Your last resort? Asking the perfect math student for help. You were kind of embarrassed asking someone you barely exchanged words with for help but you were desperate. This is your last year, you can’t afford failure.
Ni-ki was kind of confused since he didn’t really know you but he immediately said yes. He loves teaching people everything about math so there was no reason for him to say no.
The first time was embarrassingly awkward. You kept stuttering, avoiding eye contact and fidgeting. You aren’t super outgoing but also not really shy. So you were confused as to why you acted so weird. Ni-ki however found this whole interaction amusing. Getting to know the girl who sits all the way at the front might be more exciting than he thought.
Slowly but steadily, you loosened up around him. You started talking in class together and got to know each other. You even looked forward to him tutoring you. Just an innocent friendship forming.
Until it wasn’t.
You don’t remember when they started - those lingering looks, accidental hand brushes, the way you laughed too hard at his dumb jokes. Every time you caught him looking at you, there was this strange flutter in your chest.
It drove you insane.
Through those moments you spent with ni-ki, you got to know that he wasn’t interested in all the girls who were throwing themselves at him. I mean, can you blame them? He’s tall, handsome and has a carefree personality. But where do you fit?
Does he only see you as a friend? Is he interested? What do these lingering looks mean?
So that’s how you find yourself sitting in the corner of your favorite coffee shop, anxious about his arrival. You don’t even know how long you’ve been sitting here. ten minutes? twenty? Who knows. The barista keeps throwing impatient looks at you. It’s the third time since you told her that you’re still waiting for someone before you can order.
But then he walks in.
His overgrown black bangs are falling over his forehead, a blue hoodie hanging loosely over his shoulders and baggy pants that somehow make him look even better. His bag is slung over his right shoulder and he moves effortlessly, with a confident expression that makes everyone notice him - including you.
That’s when you make eye contact with him. It feels like the time has stopped only for the two of you. As if the only thing that matters right now is you and him.
He smiles at you and comes to sit across from you.
“Hey” he greets while setting his bag on the floor. He leans back and relaxes into his seat.
“Hi” you mumble. You’re so nervous that you can’t even get a proper hi out. To give yourself a moment to calm down, you call the barista over and finally order something to drink.
“Have you been waiting long? You didn’t have to wait for me to order something,” he says. His gaze is so intense that you forget to answer.
“Y/N? Are you okay?” ni-ki asks, a concerned look in his eyes.
“Uh, yeah sorry I’m just worried about the test, you know?” you lie. Well it’s not really a lie. You’re really worried about it but that’s not the reason why you’re acting weird. You need to get a grip. There’s no way you will be able to sit here and have a normal conversation with him if you keep acting like this.
His eyes soften like they always do when you talk about your worries. He takes your hand and looks you in the eye.
“Hey, everything will work out fine, okay? You don’t need to worry - you have me.” he reassures.
Your heart starts to beat too fast. Your face feels too hot. You like your friends but none of them understand how important this is for you. Having ni-ki sitting in front of you and reassuring you does more than it should. You don’t know what to make of this feeling.
“Thank you, ni-ki. I know I don’t say it often but I’m really grateful for your lessons.” she adds softly.
He smiles gently, his eyes warm.
“You don’t ever have to thank me. I like spending time with you.”
The barista arrives with your drinks - one espresso and one americano. You grip your mug, take a sip and moan at the warm feeling.
Ni-ki leans forward and asks “Does it taste good?”
“Mhm” you murmur, taking another sip.
“Can I have a sip?” he whispers, looking straight into your eyes.
You choke on your sip.
“What?!” you sputter, leaving a small mess on your shirt and the table. Good thing you didn’t take your stuff out yet.
Ni-ki doesn’t seem to mind the little mess. He leans closer, a teasing smile on his face.
“I said, can I have a sip?”
“Why? I’ve seen you drink espressos before…” you exclaim, dabbing at your shirt with the napkins.
“I just want to see if it tastes as good as you make it out to be.” His grin widens at your confused expression and you realise, he’s actually enjoying this.
“You’re so weird” you mutter, trying to hide your smile. You look at each other and it feels like the whole world has faded away, leaving just the two of you. It feels like he is trying to convey something without actually saying it.
After what feels like a lifetime, you finally avert your gaze. You are confused. You like him - that’s obvious - and you think maybe he likes you too? You know he doesn’t share looks like that with just anybody. But you’re too scared to ask him.
You clear your throat and ask if you should begin. Ni-ki stares for one beat longer, then nods, grabbing his stuff out of his bag. You take your notebook out and show him the exercise.
He starts explaining how to solve the fractions, showing you how to divide a whole into equal parts. However you find it hard to concentrate on what he’s saying. You find yourself checking out the mole on his chin.
You want to kiss it.
The urge is sudden and pathetically overwhelming. It takes everything in you not to lean in and just kiss it. You force yourself to focus before he realises that you’d rather study his mole.
After an hour of pure torture, you finish your lesson, pack your stuff and get up. Despite the exhaustion lingering deep in your bones, you want to stay here with him. In this quiet, familiar coffee shop.
Ni-ki takes two steps forward, grabs your bag and stares down at you.
“You did well today, yn. I believe in you” he says quietly. You can’t look away no matter what. He slides the bag straps onto your shoulders and says one final thing.
“Let’s study at my house tomorrow”
