Fun fact: they DID get Clooney for the funeral, but he turned down the appearance on the basis that he was worried it would overshadow Mark's death, and he didn't want viewers to just be waiting for Doug to show up instead of appreciating Anthony Edwards' performance. He didn't want to take the spotlight away from Mark.

This scene is so adorable. Benton saying he “found him that way” means that he saw Carter sleeping and went to sit with him just because. And then Mark and Doug joining and none of them trying to wake Carter up or talk to him, just keeping him company.

I watched the Pitt, and, like any Noah Wyle susceptible person out there, my next course of action was watching ER.

I have to praise ER's writing (for the time being) because they didn't have to tell me anything for me to clock right on what kind of relationship with the parents each character had.

Right on season one I know Doug Ross had a shitty father due to the way he acts and everything about him, I knew Susan Lewis had a narcissist mother because of her need to fix things constantly and her being a magnet for problematic people, I knew Mark Greene had average parents, I knew Peter Benton was a mamma's boy due to his complete inability to be affectionate to anyone else and his emotional stuntness and clocked John Carter's parents being emotionally and physically distant from his need to excell and please, his need of male encouragement and female affection.
