Could you draw a shirt with a hanklerfish on it that says ce n'est pas un hanklerfish ?

Sure! Actually, this brings up an interesting point. 

Both of these shirts express truths. The top drawing is not a hanklerfish, it’s a weird creature derived from a hanklerfish, whose name is “Hanklerfish.” The one on the bottom is also not a hanklerfish, though it may look more like one. That’s because no matter how hard I try, I can’t draw a real hanklerfish. Only one person in the world is capable of doing that, and it’s not me. 

This is an interesting case, though, because a hanklerfish is a drawing by definition. If Hank Green were to draw a hanklerfish on a shirt, and then someone wrote some version of “this is not a hanklerfish,” that would be a lie.

The image on the bottom is, however, a drawing OF a hanklerfish (a drawing of a drawing, in a way), so the same logic applies to that drawing as to the original pipe. It wasn’t a pipe, it was a painting of a pipe.

Confusing, isn’t it?
