He's tall, strong, can bench twice his bodyweight, and every time he wears a workout shirt you can see his biceps and triceps bulging out as Charles does pull-ups and push-ups.
He's so proud of what he's achieved—what his body is capable of—but there is some part of Charles that just wants to be treated softly.
Cherished and held and kissed like he was something fragile and precious.
The Omega used to daydream what it might be like to have someone look out for him and maybe even dote on him—not because they thought he needed their protection but just because they wanted to.

He'd been warding off unwanted reporters and crowds just for Charles.

The comment had made Charles wilt. That was the day he woke up feeling so pretty—his neck covered with Max's kisses, his hair rumpled, and his eyes so bright and beautiful it resulted in his Alpha tugging him back into bed for more kisses and cuddles.
That was the day Charles wore a pretty high-necked white silk halter top to the paddock—the one Victoria gave him two weeks ago because the blouse reminded her of Charles and she knew he had to have it. Max couldn't stop kissing his exposed arms and shoulder blades and he'd even pouted a little when Charles laughingly insisted they needed to leave the hotel or else they'd be late for their interviews.
They walked into the paddock, hand in hand, and everyone had smiled at Charles and nodded at Max and things had been going so well—
Until Johnny Herbert decided to shame Charles for daring to wear a pretty shirt to the paddock.
The Omega had been in the process of elegantly pivoting the conversation (following the procedural steps Mia outlined for him years ago) when he hears a loud, furious growl cut through the air.
A growl so loud it actually causes the surrounding conversation to die down.
Charles glances towards Max and sees that his Alpha is glaring down at Herbert. The Red Bull driver's teeth are bared, eyes burning with rage, and he looks close to grabbing the reporter by the collar of his shirt and throwing him off the parade bus.
"You do not," Max snarls, "get to make comments about the clothes my Charlie wears. Not when he's outraced his tractor of a car every single week. Not when he's fought harder, driven better, and delivered performances that should be impossible with the tools he's been given. You do not get to stand here and act all high and mighty just because an Omega has made his way onto the grid and driven better than you ever did in your mediocre F1 career, Herbert."
"How dare you—!" The old Alpha tries to bluster, face turning purple with indignation and rage. "I'll report this you know! I'll tell the stewards and have this broadcast, I swear I will—"
But Max only smirks. "What's the FIA going to do? Fine me for hurting your feelings? That's not in the FIA rule book. But you know what is? Harassment towards an Omega." The Alpha smiles like a shark.
Herbert freezes.
"Make another comment again about Charles's wardrobe and I'll throw you out of a moving vehicle. How's that sound?"
It's at this moment the parade bus stops and someone—Nico Hulkenberg—walks over, tapping Herbert on the shoulder.
The tension diffuses as Herbert slinks away, tail between his legs.
"Fucking weasel." Max mutters before turning to look at Charles.
The Omega big doe eyes are suspiciously shiny. "You didn't have to do that, Maxie. You didn't have to step in like that." Max opens his mouth to protest but Charles leans in and presses a soft, sweet kiss to his lips. "Thank you, mon amour."
This time, Max lets out another growl—but it's low and pleased and a little shy.
"I know you don't need me to protect you, liefje." He smiles. "But I love that you let me do it anyway."
Charles: Yes, you know who else is spectacular? Max. My Max.

In every AU and scenario Charles will always be there, calling Max "My Max" with his whole chest 🤗
I can easily picture that sometime during the 2026 season, as Charles and Max are battling it out in the midfield, our Monegasque menace goes on the radio and angrily shouts: "Max! What is he thinking? My Max is being so stupid today."
And the entire Ferrari pit wall just goes 👁👄👁
They finish with Charles managing to snag P3 while Max is right on him, securing a P4. His highest finish in the 2026 season so far.
While exiting the car Charles sees that Max looks feverish—almost ill—and fear immediately hits him. His Maxie was sick this entire race (but still managed to land in the top 5).
Charles tries to hurry over to Max (they're not really dating...but a little more than friends...who sometimes hook up) but he's stopped by Ferrari personnel who want Charles to go run towards the camera and celebrate with his team. Charles is, of course, very proud of garage #16 but he needs to check on Max. Knowing the Dutchman, he'll ignore his fever and body aches until he physically can't anymore and damn it, Charles is not letting that happen!
He tries to tell them he just needs a minute, that he wants to congratulate Max—
But Mia is trying to pull him away and the cameras are coming closer and Charles is exhausted, very worried, and full of adrenaline.
He snaps.
"You will let me see my Max right now! I need to see if he's alright and maybe escort him to medical! Look at him, he can barely stand upright!"
The cameraman filming for Drive to Survive actually lets out a oh shit under his breath.
David Coulthard is unfazed. "Let him go." He gestures for the cameraman to stop filming. "Max hasn't stopped talking about 'his Charlie' since he got out of his car."
Charles bolts over to Max as soon as he's able while everyone else stands around, not quite sure what to do with themselves.
Finally, Mia clears her throat. "Verstappen calls him 'my Charlie'?"

I think this can fit between Prologue II and Part 1 where Max and Charles just started dating and our Alpha is over the moon in love, he just wants to pamper and spoil his Charlie 24/7 and lavish him with gifts and pretty things 🥺 Max excitedly bundling Charles in the softest, plushest cashmere blankets when they return to their hotel and hearing the Omega's delighted peals of laughter.
Max getting Charles's favorite takeout and watching the Omega eat while sitting between Max's legs, the Alpha massaging his boyfriend's strong, broad shoulders because Andrea put Charles through a brutal workout that day.
Max combing Charles's damp hair after a joint shower together where the Omega shyly asked Max to help him wash his back and Max had to force himself to keep focused or else he would've just stared at the Omega's firm, round ass for hours 😩
(He and Max haven't slept together yet. Charles wants him so desperately but he—well, he's...he's a virgin. At 26 years old. He doesn't know what to do or how to move but Max has never pushed for more—he's so delighted by their cuddle sessions and kisses that it has Charles melting into a puddle every time Max so much as touches his waist 😭)
It's so sweet and lovely and everything Charles hoped for 🥺 he's so deeply in love with his Maxie and just wants to take care of the Alpha in return but isn't quite sure how...? Max insists that just having Charles in his arms, scenting him and kissing him and being with him is more than enough but—
Charles is not a typical Omega. He doesn't just want to provide comfort to his Alpha, he wants to actively spoil his Maxie and show him just how much Charles loves and adores him.
And he gets his chance after the 2024 Hungarian GP where his Alpha finishes P5 in a race with bad pace, a failed strategy, and increasing tension between Max and the Red Bull team.
Max is getting absolutely eviscerated by the various journalists and media correspondents at the post-race presser—Charles sits beside him, watching as his Alpha tries to explain that the criticisms he said were valid but perhaps worded too harshly. The adrenaline and frustration were overwhelming but Max should not have taken it out on his team.
Charles watches as his Alpha tries to reiterate that he has the utmost respect for his team, for Red Bull, for GP but that he was fighting the car, fighting his overheating tyres, and fighting his team's increasingly inadequate strategy—
But the gleeful, smirking vultures in front of them only heckle Max. Calling him immature.
Selfish.
"Quite difficult to win a race without the best car, hm?" A Sky Sports correspondent snarks with a wide, toothy grin. "I suppose anyone could have had the season you did in 2023 if they had that Red Bull."
And that's when Charles sees red.
How dare they diminish his Max's performance like that? How dare they not recognize Max was the only one in Red Bull capable of piloting a car built for speed but also required the utmost skill to navigate. How dare they not realize Max reigned over 2023 in a way that no one else ever has—not even Lewis during the days of Merc domination.
How dare they reduce Max's 2023 season down to the fucking car when it requires a pilot equally as skilled, equally as daring, and equally as brilliant?
Charles lifts his mic to his lips and for the first time since signing with Ferrari, he doesn't give a flying fuck what Sylvia or Mia might do to him.
He unleashes a cutting, brutal clapback to the journalist by pointing out that a good car is only as good as its driver—and Max has done far more with subpar machinery than any other pilot in F1.
The room goes quiet. Charles angrily slams his mic back down and scoots closer to Max, needing to be near his Alpha.
But Max...
Max goes quiet.
After the press conference Charles pulls his boyfriend into the nearest dark corner and moves to embrace him when Max steps back. His body is tense.
He struggles to speak but finally tells Charles that he doesn't want the Omega's pity.
"I don't need you to defend me." He says. "I...I want to take care of you, Charlie."
But the Ferrari driver only scoffs. "Of course you don't need it. But you deserve it. I will not sit back and allow people to mock you or hurt you or say cruel things. I want to take care of you too, Maxie. We're in this together. You and me, chéri." He emphasizes. "I will never sit back and let you be hurt, mon cœur."
Max looks up, those sapphire eyes bright with hope and adoration. "You...you still want me, Charlie? Even though I've failed?"
The Omega's heart hurts at the soft, tremulous question. "Of course I want you, mon lion." He cups Max's cheek. "I want you always—in good times and in bad. I want to be your partner in everything, chéri. No exceptions."
And when Max hears this? Our mighty Alpha collapses into Charles's arms, hugging his Omega so tightly that bruises in the shape of Max begin to form.
But Charles hugs him back with equal ferocity, holding up his Alpha. He will be Max's strength in times of hardship, he will care for his other half the way Max always takes care of Charles.
Because Charles is a strange, odd Omega who defies every convention.
And as he holds Max up, whispering soft words in his ear, he feels the Alpha's lips press against his mating gland. "Mine," he whispers in a wet voice, "my strong, beautiful, one-of-a-kind Omega."
I love when Charles is protecting his Max. 🥹 Charles will deal with any bullshit thrown at him, but God help anyone who messes with his lion. Or as the saying goes: "May God have mercy on my enemies because I won't."😤

It got me thinking of a slightly different variation, in which baby!Charles and baby!Max both grow up running around the paddocks (meaning Charles isn't fully unknown to the public) bc of their parents, absolutely joined at the hip and causing chaos wherever they go. (Let's ignore the timelines here a little so that Seb is also there)
Maybe one day when they're running around Charles trips over some equipment or something and scrapes his knees and Max comforts him and picks him up for a piggy back ride and carries him back to his parents, and keeps him calm while his parents clean the cuts, and that's when Simi realize just how sweet baby!Max is (bc they know Jos, and they're a little worried about their kid being so involved with his kid) and how much he cares for their baby. Maybe they even take Max under their wing a little, trying to shield him from the worst of Josh, and make sure Max has a place to run to if he ever needs to, maybe to the point where one day in the future a teenage!Max shows up at their door, sopping wet because it's of course storming, looking for a safe place because his father either kicked him out or abandoned him somewhere

Noting this is an AU to the previous drabble since it has Charles as Kimi and Seb's bby boy + Lestappen as childhood friends 🥹
I love the idea of Kimi and Seb slowly realizing just how different Max is from his father—how despite his intensity on track, his bullshit attitude, and his fiery determination to win, when Max is off track, he's the sweetest, most considerate, and most thoughtful little boy. A little splash of sunshine who revolves around Charles, always holding the younger pup's hand or standing near him or murmuring silly jokes that results in Charles dissolving in a fit of giggles.
Kimi knows Max gets a small allowance every week from Jos (with an extra bonus if he wins a race). He assumes Max spends his pocket money the way any young ambitious karter would—racing games, new equipment, the latest magazine interviews with Schumacher or Alonso.
But when Charles trots home one day eagerly showing his papa and mama an absolutely stunning model Ferrari car that fits in the palm of his hand—an exact replica of the 1975 Ferrari Niki Lauda drove to his first world championship.
A replica that cost a good amount of euros and—
"Maxie gave it to me! I told him one of my favorite F1 seasons was the 1975 season with Niki Lauda and he went on all the auction sites until he found this!" Charles cradles the little car to his heart, dimples on full display as he looks up at his parents. "Isn't my Maxie the best?"
"Yes, mein honigbienchen," Seb smooths back his windswept curls, "this is a beautiful gift but baby, this is very expensive. Did Max's dad buy it for you?"
Those big green eyes, usually bright with excitement or mischief, look confused. "Non, maman. Maxie did."
Seb glances at Kimi.
The Finnish driver simply walks forward, picks their pup up and carries him to the couch where Charles sits in his papa's lap, eyes never leaving the shiny red model car. "Did Max pay for it?" Kimi murmurs softly as Seb curls up beside him.
"Uh-huh, we went to the store and they wrapped it up for us and everything after Maxie told them to." Charles recalls with a dreamy little sigh. "I love him so much, papa. I'm going to marry him."
"You shouldn't marry someone just because they gave you a beautiful gift, Charles." Seb tries to interject before pausing. "And how did Max afford this?"
"He has lots of euros saved up, maman." Charles replies easily. "And I don't want to marry my Max because he gave me this. I've wanted to marry him since forever. We even played wedding and I kissed Maxie's cheek!" He adds proudly.
Seb chokes on air while a small smile appears on Kimi's usually stoic face. "He saved up, hm?" He muses.
"Yeah." His son's voice grows a little quieter. "He saved up for a long time. But he still bought me ice cream cones after races, even though I told him he was better than ice cream." He looks up, those emerald eyes suspiciously shiny. "I want Max forever and ever. And I never want to let him go."
Not long after that, Seb starts inviting Max over for dinner. The young pup grows up at their dinner table, always sitting by Charles's side, his Dutch-accented voice becoming so familiar that it feels strange when Max isn't there.
Seb watches as Max "helps out" in the kitchen but it's really just him hugging Charles from behind as the Omega stirs tomato sauce and laughs happily when Max pretends to nip at his shoulder.
Kimi watches as Max reviews old races on his laptop while Charles cuddles up in his lap, the two of them commenting on each turn and lap while Charles runs his fingers through Max's short, cropped hair.
It doesn't escape their notice that Max often comes to them with bruises on his arms or a slightly swollen lip.
He rises up to junior formula and they watch Jos Verstappen's eyes turn harder and colder.
One evening they watch Charles bundle up in warm clothes before pulling one of Kimi's old coats from the closet. He puts that in a large bag before moving to the kitchen to ladle hot Kartoffelsuppe in a thermos while another thermos hold spiced tea.
"Are you meeting friends, honigbienchen?" Seb asks. He and Kimi are cuddled up in Seb's nest, the Alpha holding his mate while observing his son with a look of quiet contemplation.
Charles solemnly turns to his papa and mama and simply says: "Max is alone at the track. I'm going to pick him up and get him something hot to eat and then I am bringing him here."
"At the track—?" Seb's sky blue eyes widen. "It's freezing out there! And it's near 11 pm, what on earth is Max doing this late at night?"
"Practicing." Charles spits out viciously. "He didn't make the podium last race so Jos drove him to the track and told him not to leave until he learned how to drive like an Alpha. And Max has been there for hours. He didn't tell me until just now." Charles hugs the thermos to his chest. "His voice was shaking from how cold he is. And he apologized maman, he kept apologizing again and again and again." Tears fill their son's eyes. "He called himself a burden and said he hoped I wasn't mad and I'm—I don't—" Quiet sobs fill the kitchen as Charles cries, angrily wiping away tears but Seb and Kimi are on their feet, wrapping their little pup (who's almost 15 years old now) in their arms.
"I'll drive." Kimi announces without question.
It's there, on a freezing cold Tuesday night, that they pick up a shivering Max Verstappen in his karting gear. He's standing perfectly still, head held high, and helmet under his arm. Together, he and Kimi load Max's kart into the van before Charles throws himself into Max's arms, wrapping the young Alpha in Kimi's old coat and refusing to let go until Max is seated in the back of the van with Charles.
They watch from the rearview mirror as Max is fed soup and given plenty of not-so-subtly kisses on his icy cold hands before the young Alpha wraps his arms around Charles and buries his face in the crook of their son's neck.
This is the night Kimi and Seb learn that this is not an uncommon occurrence.
It's just the first time Max has told anyone—because he was nearing hypothermia.
And later, shortly after Max is signed to Toro Rosso, the young Alpha shows up at their door, soaked through the bone, with a single backpack. "My dad kicked me out." He says after they usher him inside. "Can I stay here for a few days? Until I figure out where to go?"
Seb doesn't hesitate. "You can, and you will stay here for as long as you want, mein bärchen—I do not want to hear you argue with me over it." He adds while taking Max's wet backpack and pressing a kiss to his forehead.
Kimi throws Max a warm, dry hoodie and gestures up the stairs. "Your bedroom is right next to Charles's."
The Finnish driver knows there's no point in trying to separate them. After all, he muses, this is his future son-in-law.
(And Charles would likely throw a fit if Max were situated in any other part of the estate.)

Charles coming from District 11 where his family owns a modest apple orchard and small adjoining bakery that sells bread, apple tarts, pies, and scones. Beautiful, graceful, and seemingly shy, Charles immediately crafts a persona as the "Fair Maiden" who becomes the most popular tribute—he's adored by the residents of the Capitol and immediately garners dozens and dozens of sponsors. His mentor, Bryan Bozzi, barely has to do anything before gifts and money are being thrown at Charles.
On the other end of the spectrum is Max Verstappen of District 2. A born warrior and lethal killer who won the Hunger Games not once but twice. He runs into Charles by accident after the little doe-eyed angel gets "lost" near the sweet pastries. While everyone else is busy fretting over Charles and handing him food, refreshments, and warm towels, no one sees the two tributes from District 12 sneakily hiding food away in cloth sacks.
Max, however, sees all this.
Once Charles is alone, he walks up to the Omega and simply states: "The Capitol will not starve you. You're their entertainment. They'll keep you well fed."
His expression is cold, his voice is low and neutral, and there's a reason that the Capitol residents steer clear of the District 2 victor despite worshipping him from afar. Max Verstappen is a tall, imposing, broad-shouldered and ruthless killer who stabbed his own teammate through the heart to secure his victory in the Games.
He expects Charles to realize who he is.
He expects Charles to turn tail and run away.
He expects the pretty little brunet with the spring green eyes to avoid him at every event from here on out.
He does not expect the District 11 tribute to cross his arms, cheeks puffing up with indignation as he glares at Max. The Alpha thinks the boy means to look intimidating.
Instead, he looks like his cat, Sassy, before she's forced to take a bath.
"You are not someone who can lecture me about hunger." The tribute snaps at him. There is no hint of the "Lost Maiden" anymore—oh no.
Max is looking at a snarling, feral kitten who is very ready to unsheath his claws.
"They said we may help ourselves to anything at the banquet. They never said we couldn't take a few items with us after we leave."
Max glances at the small table of pastries and baked goods. "Why not take the rack of lamb? Or the sea bass? Protein would be better for what you're up against tomorrow."
"Bread is easier to carry. And has a longer shelf life." The tribute replies without flinching.
"You won't be able to take any of this food with you into the arena—"
"We know that. Just because we're not Capitol doesn't mean we're stupid."
Max blinks. "I'm not Capitol."
"You've been here long enough." The brunet rolls his eyes.
For the first time, Max notices just how long his eyelashes are—soft and fluttering the same dark shade of cocoa as his hair.
"So you're aware of who I am." He surmises.
"Yes." The tribute takes one step forward, head tilting slightly. "You are the idiot who volunteered twice to get killed."
Surprise shoots through him at the almost...dismissive tone in the shorter boy's voice. "Many would classify that as bravery."
"Many people here are dumb."
"You're being quite ungracious to your hosts." Max can feel the corner of his mouth twitch—particularly at the thought of Stefano Domenicali being reduced to nothing more than a dumb host.
"I am not insulting our hosts." Charles corrects before his entire expression suddenly changes. Bright emerald eyes, the softest look on his face, and a dimpled smile designed to break hearts.
It takes Max by surprise just how incandescently lovely this tribute is—lovely in a way that makes the Alpha feel...
Warm.
"My name is Max." He suddenly says, unsure why he feels the need to hear this strange tribute say his name.
Just once.
"Max." The angel—the tribute from some far-flung district—murmurs to himself before that dimpled smile is back on his face. "I hope you know that when I said many people here are dumb," he bites down on his bottom lip, "I included you in that category. In fact, you are on the top of the list." He blinks, doe eyes fluttering, and the bizarre, alluring, and frankly addictive quality about this Omega sends the normally stoic Max into overdrive.
For the first time in years, the 2-time Hunger Games champion allows himself to crack a smile.
A faint, brief smile that disappears as quickly as it came.
The tribute doesn't seem to notice but Max is self-aware enough to realize that this petite beauty is going to be far more trouble than anyone ever anticipated.
