Update
I did a little spring cleaning of the more recent dead links - at least, those that were affecting the loading of the posts.
Unfortunately back then I might not have listed exactly what I was posting with sufficient specificity so it’s not entirely a straightforward task to replace the dead links (but I suspect where vlive and twitter videos were being referenced, those may be gone for good - on the topic of vlive, to think that I made efforts to embed the official links... fat good that does).
Due to the amount of time that has elapsed, there are entire posts where all the links are dead, but I have decided against deleting them because I hope that if you are interested, it gives you sufficient context to try and find the clips for yourself.
As for me, I think after I saw him in Xcalibur, I felt like I had done everything I had ever wanted to do as a fan of DK. I didn’t really like some of the Seventeen releases post Xcalibur (that’s not to say that I liked all the stuff that came out prior) - I have followed Seventeen since Adore U, so I have tastes of an old fan who likes freshteen. I think the bighit/hybe buyout also created a great deal of fandom turmoil, and left me very conflicted as someone whose first encounter with bighit was before BTS even debuted. In the intervening time, I suppose I’ve also changed, we all change I guess.
Since then, I’ve also gone to watch the Seventeen concert when they came to my country in 2022. It was similar and yet different from the previous experience. The venue was the same, and I sat in a similar block, but it cost twice the amount (to be fair, when they performed in the venue first, that block was underpriced compared to the rest of the categories). Ticketing was much harder, and I couldn’t have gotten my tickets in general ticketing when that’s when I would have gotten my tickets in the past. I held the same uchiwa / picket which I’ve always held, but couldn’t evaluate its effectiveness as well this time due to where I was sitting. Was familiar with fewer songs. Felt the setlist was short, even though objectively I don’t think it necessarily was. I came out of concert feeling once again like I’ve done everything I had ever wanted to do as a fan of DK.
I’ve listened to the new Xcalibur, and I conclude that I preferred the songs I heard. I acknowledge that I’m probably biased.
I loved BSS’ Fighting and followed the promotional cycle with great enthusiasm (but I really really wish that they had promoted a second week so that we could see them perform the encore stages...) The last time I was as excited about something from DK was Xcalibur. I am thrilled with the success that BSS has experienced, on a song which I personally enjoy. When Just Do It came out, there was no term for it, but now there is (even if very quickly abandoned due to their digital success), I do count myself as a tteoktwisoon.
