Astrology doesn't seem to work.
Some highlights:
Astrologers helped design the study
No one did better than random chance, even though they only included people in the study who are experienced with astrology and stated that they expect themselves to do better than random chance
They gave every astrologer a set of 50 things about a person and 5 birth charts to choose from. They weren’t even coming up with the chart themselves!
After taking the test, most thought they nailed it. Zero out of 152 did better than 5 out of 12. None nailed it
Astrologers who rated themselves highly experienced (“world class experts”) did the same or worse as those who said they have limited experience. Both performed the same as random chance
This is hilarious

So I made a post recently about non binary people and I made the apparent mistake of saying binary people fit in the gender binary. Which is, of course, the definition of being binary in the most direct and literal sense, but people still got mad about it.
I would like to suggest that if you object to being considered part of the gender binary, if it just feels wrong, then maybe you are not actually binary at all. Maybe you should spend some time considering the possibility that you are non binary.
@lambpaca Yeah I did not say that gender non conforming people are nonbinary. You just kinda made that up when I said nothing whatsoever about gender non conformance. In fact, I consider myself a binary person who is highly gender non conforming.
I genuinely don't understand how it is possible to misunderstand what I am saying. I'm not mad but I am a bit frustrated how people just seem to make up words that I absolutely did not say and decide that is what I mean. Like here, lets define some terms: Gender Binary - the gender binary consists of the genders "man" and "woman".
Binary - anyone who falls into the categories of "man" or "woman", according to their own assessment of their gender, is binary.
Now notice how I don't say anything about how "gender non conforming" is an inherently binary or non binary term. I said exactly two things: if your gender is binary, then you are in the gender binary. A statement so basic and simple it is literally a tautology. My second statement was that if being considered binary seems wrong, it might be good to consider the possibility that you might NOT be binary. I certainly didn't say anything about forcing gender identity on people.
Now, I think I know what the disconnect is, and this is going to sound harsh, but things like this happen and I don't think you are a bad person. It's just easy to make mistakes like this when you are not thinking, and instead reacting. Exorsexism has you confused over one of the single most common pieces of rhetoric the trans community ever uses. Let me explain.
Lets say instead of binary vs nonbinary, I was saying cis vs trans, and I made the statement "if you object to being considered a woman, if it just feels wrong, then maybe you are not actually a woman at all. Maybe you should spend some time considering the possibility that you are a man."
The idea that discomfort at your assigned gender is a potential sign of being trans is a universally recognized idea in the trans community. That is literally all I said, except instead of man vs woman, I am talking about binary vs nonbinary.
You need to actually stop and think when you read something instead of going with your gut reaction and then digging in when people correct you. Consider if the idea relates to things you already know, patterns you are already familiar with.

the thing is, stephen king is generally pretty good at creating complex, well-rounded characters, which makes it all the more jarring when one of those characters abruptly comes out with what i'll term a "kingism". i don't know how best to define a kingism other than "you'll know it when you see it". it's the voice of the author intruding on the voice of the character, and in this case the voice of the author has a bad sense of humour and is ravenously, inexplicably horny
random example of a kingism aka "he would not fucking say that"
this too is a kingism
one of the hallmarks of a kingism is that when a character is being Horny On Main (or In Maine), they can never do it in a normal way. they have to come up with a sequence of words that nobody has ever said before in the history of the english language. here's another example:

Here's a legal PSA:
If you've committed a crime and a detective gathers everyone involved in the room, especially if he's not actually a detective and is instead a novelist, puzzle-setter, psychic, fake psychic, dog, chess grandmaster, etc. ...
YOU SHOULD NOT CONFESS.
Every year, hundreds of people are put away by non-traditional "detectives" who have either inserted themselves into the case or are working with the police in a dubiously legal capacity as advisor. In 99% of these cases, the murderer gives a full confession even though the evidence against them is circumstantial at best and often requires a long just-so story which can only guess at motive.
If this happens to you, stay quiet, do not attempt to defend yourself or talk your way out of it, only say "I want a lawyer".
Now if you find yourself being investigated by a boy genius, magician's assistant, anthropologist, classics scholar, or philosopher, it's likely that refusing to talk to the police (or investigator with no legal authority) is merely the end of the second act, and by the end of the third act they will have you dead to rights.
YOU SHOULD STILL NOT CONFESS.
Make them take it to court. Force the eccentric detective and his straight-laced police partner to take the stand and explain their methods to a jury of your peers. Have your lawyer look at the chain of custody on the evidence, especially if you believe it to have been handled by someone who has only bumbled into detective work through their natural charm and/or unique set of skills and outsider perspective that come in handy more often than they should.
Know your rights. Don't let eccentric detectives put you away.
No one owes artists anything.
But existence is lonely and sometime you throw hours and hours of effort into a void, on the slim chance it will say something back.
