Conservative right-wing and market liberal right-wing junta will govern for the next 4 years in Finland. Expecting unprecedented cuts from the public sector and spread of narrow-minded conservative values as well as mass demonstrations and strikes. The Finnish trade unions and left must pull themselves together now and dare to stand against this right-wing hegemony.
This campaign video was made for the 2006 presidential election in Finland. In 2000 Tarja Halonen (a former social democrat), first female president of Finland, had won the election and ran for the second term. She won also the second election. For the anti-feminists (and those who are either completely lost with the terminology and political ideologies or are simply fascists) the win of a woman and former social democrat (two terms of office) was a rather traumatizing experience and those poor traumatized haven’t recovered still. The president in Finland has more ceremonial role when the prime minister has more significant role. However, a president in Finland is told to have an important role in that sense that he or she has an influence to political environment and the political atmosphere embodies in the president.
The video is funny. It’s been criticized how it tried to beg votes and attention from the Finnish youth and how it tried to be so red by its lyrics though the fact is that the Social Democratic Party of Finland is quite right-wing while it pretends to be on the left. But if you ask my opinion, I preferred our previous president (who talked more about social issues at least) thousand times more to our current president who represents hard values and is clearly favoring economical issues over social issues.
The people of Finland will fight against any redneck-mentality and exploitation implemented by the parasite bourgeois. The war hasn’t been lost. It’s just about to begin.

Lunatics got elected in the Parliament. Surprisingly the political parties outside the parliament were hardly mentioned. Market capitalists and conservatives (Finnish version of the Republicans) are already planning how to abolish Nordic welfare system once and for all. Weak unions (that have been lobbying for the TTIP) can blame only themselves that their power and achievements will be destroyed. The Left is damn week in this country (where its citizens let the bourgeois media to fool them to vote against their own rights or staying passive). But I’m optimist about the future. The Finnish people will have enough of this right-wing hegemony. Sooner or later the people will lose their chains and kick the parasite elite outside this country.

It’s a pity that only the Finnish right-wing perspective gets visibility in the foreign media. Finland is not just a strange, interesting or exotic Nordic country with modern politicians with their white teeth. Yes, this country is sinking, thanks to the right-wing that is selling the jobs abroad and is allowing tax evasion (just some examples about the determined policy that has lead to the class divisions). The workers and unemployed are asked for the impossible while the managers earn billions by writing some numbers by their Excel spreadsheet applications.
False and sugarcoated right-wing reality shouldn’t get so much importance at the expense of the poor. It’s the same as believing the Soviet propaganda. No more right-wing bullshit, if there are hard decisions to be made, then there should be the end of rightist hegemony in this country!

Finnish anti-Russian propaganda and increasing militarist spirit is equivalent to the propaganda in Russia. Don’t know when has Finland had that militarist and warmongering government that wants to weaken peaceful relations between Finland and Russia so badly. in 1920s and 1930s maybe? Ukraine plans to prohibit Communism in Ukraine. An excuse is that Communism serves the Russian interests. What is going on? I’ve understood that the Communist party of Ukraine has taken quite neutral stance on the ongoing crisis and has been calling for the peace.
Also Ukraine plans to prohibit Russian movies that were made after the annexation of Crimea. Ukraine’s government doesn’t do a lot to solve the crisis and this fascist alike government is supported by the West and by the coward government of Finland that doesn’t dare to do shit without asking kindly the permission from Angela Merkel or Jean-Claude Juncker. No more right-wing, centrist, “liberal” or social democratic politics! Fuck the Finnish EU-puppet government, give back our sovereignty!
The Easter Liturgy in the Orthodox Church of Nurmes (in Eastern part of Finland).
1-2 % of the Finnish citizens belong to the Finnish Orthodox Church. Orthodox Church is another Church that has a legal position as a national Church in the country. It is a minority Church alongside with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. The majority of the Finnish citizens are Lutherans.
The Orthodox Church (actually the Greek Byzantine Catholic Church) came first to Karelia (previously part of Finland) from Russia (then the Novgorod Republic) in the beginning of the last millennium. The Orthodox (or Greek Catholic) monasteries started to spread in the Eastern area of Finland (When Finland was part of the kingdom of Sweden) in the 14th Century when the kingdom of Sweden made a peace treaty, that was called “the Treaty of Nöteborg” (”Pähkinäsaaren rauha”) between the Novgorod Republic. The peace treaty also defined the Eastern border of the kingdom of Sweden.
The Finnish Orthodox Church was under the Russian Orthodox Church until 1923 and since 1923 the Finnish Orthodox Church has been an autonomous Orthodox archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. The Orthodox Church has traditionally been considered as “Russian church” and especially during the first half of the 20th Century the Church was not so tolerated by many Finns. The Finnish Orthodox Church is still not so appreciated these days (especially in the Western parts of Finland). Â
I consider the Orthodox liturgies beautiful and the music is amazing. Therefore I still feel to be part of this Church though it has quite conservative values, to put it mildly...
Winter swimming (”avantouinti”) in Finland (also common in Russia) in winter time. After this icy dip, swimmers hurry to warm sauna. Afterwards it makes you feel good and it is said to have many health benefits. Tried it once in one New Year’s Eve and yes, have to say it was such an interesting experience! You should try it!

Meet Björn Wahlroos (a.k.a mr Walrus), the chairman of the Board in Sampo Group (financial company), Nordea (bank) and UPM-Kymmene (a Finnish pulp, paper and timber manufacturer). He's earned a nickname "Nalle" ("teddy bear") for some reason. In my opinion he resembles a symphatetic walrus. In his youth (in the early 1970s) he was active in the Finnish radical leftist movement (called "Taistoists" by many) that was pro-Soviet interior group in the Communist Party of Finland). Later he turned his coat, as the critics say, and changed his principles to Capitalism (he's humorously called as Taistoist Capitalist sometimes). Haters of Nalle say that he is a turncoat and gives the faces for the exploitation of the people with low-incomes in Finland. Those who love him openly (or secretly) say the following, as he has shared his wisdoms in the media: "he's right you know!", "once again I agree with Björn "Nalle" Wahlroos", "I usually disagree with him, but in this I have to agree!". Why did the man, who looks like a sympathetic walrus, converted into Capitalism? Was it that poor guy was traumatised by the dogmatist spirit in the Finnish Taistoist movement? Or was he just simply opportunist who just hanged around with the Leftists because it was cool back then? The historians will tell.
Now I'd like to share some wisdoms of mr Walrus:
- "High salaries and unemployment benefits (maintained by the labor unions and good-willing politicians) are the reasons for unemployment in Finland" (down with high salaries and unemployment benefits!)
- "The Markets And Democracy - The End For the Tyranny of the Majority ("Markkinat ja demokratia - loppu enemmistön tyrannialle"; the name of his book)
- "The ideal of minimum wage is like a cockroach that we have to smash" (Björn Wahlroos on the minimum wage)
- "If the climate and environment were privately owned, people would stop polluting" (wisdoms about environmentalism)
- "I’d laugh myself crazy if my kids would come with some sort of leftist idea. I don’t think you can be that bloody stupid" (in Financial Times)
He has also criticised a lot of the politics of the European Union and he lives abroad, officially, because of "high taxation" in Finland
Wahlroos admires royals openly and the tabloids have reported that he wore pink trousers as he was inspired by Carl Gustaf XVI (the king of Sweden):
