The standard liberal and right-wing character has too many nuances:

Politics isn't limited to just elections alone, and neither are disinformation campaigns. I'm not trying to spin some sort of a conspiracy theory here, but with how chaotic things seem to be these days I feel like it's an important topic to be aware of.

As probably everyone knows, bots are often used in these campaigns, so here's a few signs you're dealing with a bot:

The account is new (may not have a profile picture)

It posts 24/7

It clearly pushes a message

The language seems off – things may be phrased in an odd way/ the grammar isn't that great (y'know, the way AI phrases things)

The account doesn't have any followers / isn't following anybody

Having said that, it's important to remember that nation-states don't rely on bots alone, quite often actual humans are part of these campaigns as well. You've probably heard of so-called troll farms, which are groups of people whose literal job it is to spread disinformation and fuel social divisions.

Obviously, when it's real human beings doing it, it's harder to tell whether you're dealing with a foreign influence campaign or just an opinionated person from your own country. But there are some more signs:

there seems to be a pattern with their posts - like, they mostly post political content, but once every 3 days they add something completely unrelated to politics

their posts/comments are typically pretty aggressive and heavy on insults

they use specific insults for particular politicians like "delulu Kamala" and stick to it every time they bring this politician up

Probably not a very hot take, but one thing I've noticed about not only conservatives but anyone having a sort of worryingly 'right-wing' (for lack of a better term) mindset is the preoccupation with potentials instead of the world around them.

Disinformation, conspiracy theories, weird religious hangups, obsession with investment returns etc., spending more time in the realm of 'it could happen' than trying to earnestly engage with the world around them seems to me to be a hallmark of someone with a harmful and even destructive mindset.

Escapism is very human, but at the point where it becomes more important for you to view the entire world through the lens of what you think it is or the ideal of what it should be instead of looking at what it is and thinking about how it can be improved on its own terms, you're on a bad path.
