guess who arrived today!!!

She's sleeping in the picture, but i want you all to meet coquina!! She's the rockruff that was sent by my friend all the way from alola, and i'm glad she stayed in her pokeball the whole flight. I'm still setting up her bed and stuff, aswell as wimpod's, so thats why she's sleeping in the cage.

ARE WE BODYSHAMING MY SON NOW??? why are you all obsessed with the size of my horrid child. he's average size for an eevee of his age group, which is about the size of one (1) loaf of bread. full grown eeveelutions are a minimum of 1.5 bread loaves long, even toddlers know this

eevee gain size proportional to their weight when they evolve, so a larger eevee will gain more mass through evolution, but a smaller one which gain less than average. this makes early evolutions dangerous (and often unsuccessful) because the evolved pokemon will not have enough mass to deal with power of the new evolution, and this often causes the body to "take a screenshot" so to say, and can result in things like sudden organ failure. this risk gets lower the older the pokemon is, though. so a naturally small eevee will be able to evolve without issue but a 3 month old eevee of the same size would likely take itself out of this life trying the same thing

Took her to the vet to get checked on. They gave her a haircut, cuz the poor thing couldn't see. I swear she is so fricking tiny, also, I'm keeping her.

#when I was a kid we acquired a few eevee this way. the jolteon would come back with an eevee and my parents had like three small children #so rehoming the eevee in question was unthinkable #this is why we always had four eeveelutions in the house at any given time

you see this is because i got him when he was really small, and then he grew bigger. humans do this, too

he's a subadult now, or in common terms, a teenager. no longer a baby, but a few months away from when most eevee end up evolving

Hmm, about 5 months old I believe? I got him 3 months ago and he was around 2 months old at the time. Usually between 6 and 12 months old is when you see eevee evolve. But, I think @pokemonshelterstories might know more than I do. I've just had a lot of eevee throughout my childhood and the vets always recommended waiting until at least 6 months old for stone evolutions

#for the record we let all our eevee choose when they wanted to evolve and what their evolution was #so not like we forced anything #I feel like most of the evolutions happened around 9 months old though?
