Spreadin’ this around ‘cause why not? Here’s some positivity! More under the cut since we have 13 episodes on just 7 or 6.

A Little Adventure

Shiro’s actor has to spend more time in his trailer because his hair has to be dyed and he refuses to get fitted with a wig. He jokes that he doesn’t trust the hairstylists getting his hair right. 

Coran and the other actors called this episode, “Honey I shrunk the kids”.

Keith’s little cousin enjoyed riding the speeder, but wished that it could actually move since they shot everything on green screens. 

He was also disappointed that he didn’t actually get to steal the car.

Shiro’s actor admits that he had a bad breakup in the past with his partner similarly in the way Shiro and Adam’s relationship ended. 

Hunk nearly got sick when they did the scene of using him as bait and the others had to pull him up before the yalmor ate him. After three takes, he had to sit down because it was messing with his stomach. 

For the group screaming while holding onto the yalmor is actually the actors holding onto this huge carpet tacked onto a green screen monster figure that jolted them around as they shot the scene. 

Keith accidentally hit the pod too hard in one take, causing the lights to blink off. Everyone started laughing and Shiro’s actor jokingly asked if Keith was trying to kill him again. Keith then mimics Shiro’s voice from Monsters and Mana and lets out a dramatic “no”. 

The Road Home

Coran’s actor improvised the line that it would take 150,000 year to get back to earth. Pidge, taking a moment to recover from the shock, manages to work off the line and say that Coran miscalculated. 

The image of the elephant that Allura imagines is actually a small animation that Pidge and Keith’s actors worked on in their spare time. The crew liked it so much they used it for the show. 

Romelle’s actress always fantasized about becoming a paladin after her role got expanded, hence her slightly ad-libbing about wanting to learn the controls of the Red Lion in case Lance got hurt somehow and then she could “save the day”. 

Some of the actors’s own personal experiences of road trips were shown in this episode. Krolia and Keith’s being that Keith’s dad would always sing extremely annoying songs when they drive. Lance’s was having to corral the younger children to calm them down, and Coran being the one who sang to his family. 

The wolf can whine on command, and it has used that trick plenty of times to get the cast and crews attention so they go over to cuddle or pet him. Keith’s actor gets a bit jealous when Kosmo cozy’s up to the others. 

The Way Forward

Lance actually believed that there was a secret passage that the crew built for their Galra prison. 

A lot of Coran’s lines to himself were improvised. 

The Galra who Coran takes his clothes from had to interact with small green balls that were later CG’d to be the mice. 

Lance’s actor liked acting out the moment where he gets all protective over Pidge and yells, “Don’t you touch her!”

Ezor and Zethrid’s actress’ actually started dating at around season 5 and asked the writers if they could use that for their characters. 

After season 7, Zethrid and Ezor’s actress posted on their social media of a circle of two dots inside with their names, and a dot outside showing Acxa writing, “Our trio’s down to two”. 

Zethrid hated having to wear the white contact over her right eye and even though she could still see through it, she complained that it was uncomfortable. 

The fight between Zethrid, Ezor, Acxa and Keith was all the actors, no stunt doubles and no wires. 

Keith jokingly asks Acxa’s actress if she was copying his style of clothing. 

The Feud

Keith’s actor does draw in his spare time and acted the way he did because he felt so put on the spot. 

Allura actually lifted up Hunk on her own with no wires. 

None of the actors were told that Zarkon would be back, although they were aware or Haggar and Lotor being in the episode. 

It took the group a few takes to get the arm spelling right, especially Allura who had to ask for help in how to adjust her arms to spell out her letter. 

Lance couldn’t really remember his lions for Bi-boh-bi, so he just made up the amount of “bi’s” and “boh’s” as he went along. 

He actually couldn’t remember the names of the characters on the face game, and he only remembers the actor’s names. 

They team actually had more alien tv ads that they filmed, but due to time constraints and budget, they had to pick their top favorites and stick with it. 

The Ruins

Krolia’s actress almost broke down laughing when Keith screams “What?!” during the training simulator and she has to immediately deadpan, “Keith, you’re out.”

Kosmo is the actual name for the dog playing it. 

The team jokingly tells the writers that they would personally come after them if anything bad happened to Kosmo. 

Romelle improvised her lines saying that ‘disgusting’ was Altean for ‘lovely’. 

Keith’s screams were completely genuine in some takes, because he forgot about the jumpscares that were coming up. 

Krolia’s actress nearly cried when Keith calls her “mom” and tells her he loves her. They’re both very affectionate to each other off-screen, but for her character, she admits that it was an incredibly touching moment. 

The Journey Within 

Hunk had different puns for when Pidge was talking about dark matter, but after a few takes, he settled on “It doesn’t matter” since it got the biggest groan from Pidge. 

The few things the group did not like about this episode was having to be pulled around by wires, staring at blue and green screens for so many shoots, and amongst their usual makeup, having to put on eye-shadow. 

They all did a photo later of where they’re just laying on the floor with the camera zoomed in on their face with dark eyes. 

They even did a cuddle pile after they were told they didn’t have to shoot for those darker moments of the episode because it was draining for them to have to act so antagonistic to each other. 

The Last Stand: Part 1

Colleen’s actress was actually just wearing a wig for her long hair, so when they started shooting scenes with the Garrison, she just took the wig off. 

Sam had Pidge personally make him the “Legendary Defender” ringtone for his phone after season 5. Most of the cast caught wind of this and asked for the ringtone as well. 

The MFE fighters were actually people who auditioned for the roles of the paladins, but didn’t get it. So they were surprised to get a call-back later when they were asked if they still wanted to be on the show as a different group. 

The Last Stand: Part 2

Veronica’s actress accidentally jammed the gun she was using so she actually couldn’t move it around like she was supposed to. 

The MFE fighters actually did make gun noise sounds after doing their scenes a few times and were hoping to get it into the blooper reels. 

Know Your Enemy

Pidge’s actor managed to actually launch herself from the car to hug Colleen in a couple of takes without the use of wires. She jokes that she was born with springs in her legs. 

Lance’s actor had no problem crying in each take where Lance is reunited with his family because he claims that it always pulled his heartstring.

Hunk and Keith really enjoyed doing the scene between their characters, especially with Keith’s actor saying how glad he was that his character was becoming more open to other people. 

Heart of the Lions

Allura’s actress had a hard time pretending to body slam a prosthetic floating hand, so they compromised by green screening the arm onto a stunt double to help her. 

Lance’s actor got the scene down when he was shooting at the fighter down in a few takes. He felt so scared for Lance in that moment, so he channeled that energy into his acting.

 When they cut later to add in the CG model of the Red Lion, Lance joked that Red always had to have the dramatic entrances. 

Trial by Fire

Coran’s actor in a few takes couldn’t pull the out necklace in time because it either got stuck, or he accidentally broke the wire, causing it to fall down his shirt.

Lion’s Pride: Part 1

Shiro’s actor jokes that he doesn’t have to get up to go grab things any more since he has a “floaty prosthetic hand”. When he showed it to the paladins he said, “Who’s the winter paladin now?” 

They still call him that since his hair is now white/grey.

Lion’s Pride: Part 2

Pidge and Lance’s actors couldn’t pull their bayards out of the interlock when they had to film the scene where they give Voltron its dual blades. So after they shot that scene, they were profusely apologizing the the crew for wrecking the ships. 

The paladins haven’t stopped calling Atlas “Thicc Voltron”

Ugh tbh I’m tired of people fetishizing mlm relationships. I think a lot of it stems from the lack of female characters in major media like this but anytime there’s two male characters are enemies or rivals they are seen as ‘soulmates’. Legit every fandom has this trope. I could list like a hundred tbh.

everyone loves representation, but when minorities are over-represented in one form of media there are so many things that could go wrong. (stereotypes, bad research, accidentally offending a whole group of people etc.)

Yup, at that point it turns into almost satire (using stereotypes to make a point) which can work sometimes; but I don’t think that’s what happening here.

i feel you on the frustration of this reboot stuff i havent watched vld since like s4 and its reasons like this that make me want to not touch the fandom with a ten foot pole

I would 10/10 recommend watching the rest of Voltron. The show itself is actually really good, the animation gets SO amazing and the characters really grow! Also in season 7 you meet the best new characters ever. (Don’t watch it with the fandom in mind tho)

You know what, sure the reboot thing may be toxic and kinda racist in certain aspects but I'm just gonna step away. I made a big deal out of it cause it inspired outwhelming anger in my very soul, but now I’m good. 

This whole fandom is so toxic 80% of the time and I’m honestly sorry I contributed to that. Let people contribute what they want I guess it’s not directly harming me as a person just harming my sensibilities. 

We have gotten away from what the show itself is about and I think that’s what really angered me. The show isn’t about romance, gay or otherwise, and it doesn’t real deal with specific earth cultures and variances. The characters are simply because it’s a simply show. Just enjoy it. It has cool space battles and is colorful and really well animated. The world-building alone is spectacular. We don’t delve into the character’s backstories for hours on end cause it’s not necessary. The show is about the character’s current growth, not their past. There are flashbacks to show what contributed, but they aren’t impossibly deep. 

It’s a good show and watching Voltron is a good time. When you take off the lens of fandom and just watch it for the sake of watching it, without thinking about pairings or langst or any number of fandom things it’s just a good show.
