I think it's interesting when people who like thunderbolts like John Walker but hate Alexi.

As someone who hates the both of them, I feel like if you hate Alexi you have to hate John too, period.

John is just a nothing burger, but I also feel like the thunderbolts team didn't know who else to put on there so they shoved him on there and ignored all his storylines from Falcon and the Winter soldier. He's not a good guy, him getting the super soldier serum and the shield was supposed to represent how terrible people are put into political positions because just because America would rather have a white person in office than a good black person.

Sam Wilson, though he gave up the shield, instead of finding someone to become captain America who was a legitimate good human being, they put the first joe smow because they wanted a white person as the face of America instead.

You can like John, sure whatever, but you can't say they didn't ignore all of that storytelling just to shoehorn him into this new avengers team. Marvel still continues to put all the other Captain America's as the forefronts of marvel instead of Sam Wilson who IS Captain America.
