it’s been a long day —— a long WEEK, actually. and after being dumped by her original date earlier this evening, the agent’s pleasant company has been the only thing that kept her from going out. however, it’s getting late, and going home wouldn’t NECESSARILY mean ending their conversation and leaving him there, right ?

england was cold, much colder than charlie had expected. dreary too. in addition to her backpack, one suitcase is removed from the trunk of the cab. it’s all she has and all she needs. knuckles tentatively rap on the door, a child’s voice heard shrieking from the inside. door swinging open, shock immediately covers the blonde’s expression. she recognizes the woman in the doorway, an old college professor. maybe she’s at the wrong house. maybe she’s dreaming. or possibly, life has just made one cruel joke. ❛ oh merde —— uh, i might have the wrong house. ❜
ALL HER LIFE, marlene believed that things happened for a reason. but when her phone rang on this cruel day and the news of her SISTER’S DEATH reached her, not only her beliefs but her whole life changed in an instant. taking care of a five year old boy wasn’t exactly PART of her plans in england ( or her life planning in general ) but . . . that’s exactly what she’s been been doing for the past six months.
it’s when little noah is throwing ANOTHER TANTRUM that there’s a knock on the door. the only visitor she’s expecting is the french au-pair she’s hired, and she silently PRAYS to god that it’s her —— so there’s finally someone who actually knows how to handle a stubborn child like her nephew.

you don’t like it here, the blonde thinks —— though she KEEPS QUIET about it. despite their . . . ISSUES in the past, she had promised mathilde to look after helene after the TERRIBLE LOSS she had experienced so recently, even if it meant missing one of her beloved balls this evening. but for DEAR HELENE, there was hardly anything she wouldn’t have done.

it is a familiar face, an AWFULLY FAMILIAR voice and that smile was one that he would never forget. FLASHBACKS of a happy summer holiday that has remained in his memory, the greatest school year, the greatest sensations he’s ever feel cross his mind. he’s nervous, who wouldn’t be if you ran to the first person who you discovered NEW things with ? should he approach her ? he wonders, staring at the blonde standing next to him in the bar’s counter.
the bartender brings him back to REALITY as he handles him the drink he had asked for a few minutes earlier. “ thanks ” peter says, obviously distracted at the presence of his darling magda, as he used to call her when they were SOMETHING else. “ so woll'n wir uns wieder seh'n. bei der Laterne woll'n wir steh'n. wie einst lili marleen. ” he sings quietly, hoping she heard him among the voices and the loud music.
RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING, it was a bad idea to go out with a colleague. she’d PROMISED HERSELF that it would never happen, yet there she was, listening to the science teacher’s ramblings on the BIG BANG THEORY and things she wouldn’t even understand if she tried —— but she’s unable to dump him. she’s too kind, too FRIENDLY to come up with an excuse to leave, although it’s all she wants at this very moment.
UNTIL —— such sweet melody reaches her ears. and with it, the sound of an old familiar voice, one she’d probably recognise ANYWHERE. marlene turns around slowly, hesitantly almost, only to find the most beautiful pair of BLUE EYES, the one she’d fallen for so many years ago. the brightest smile forms on her red lips as her own eyes widen —— unable to believe that it’s . . . “ peter ? “
she dares to approach the englishman, and suddenly, she finds her arms WRAPPED AROUND HIM TIGHTLY. this can’t be. “ it’s you ! oh my god, what are you doing here ? i thought you were still in germany ! “
