How self referential!
I’m not lazy. I’m just exhausted from fighting my way through every single day.

Depression is not a choice.
No one chooses the self-hatred, the destructive behavior, the isolation of a sadness so deep you drown everyday for the rest of your life.
No one wants to be ostracized, misunderstood, stereotyped.
No one wishes for the pitying stares, the pats on the head, the constant reassurances that “it’ll be better soon.”
Depression is like a cancer.
There is no cure; there are no magic wands. Yes, there are pretty pills to be popped in your mouth, promises of a brighter future and a better tomorrow. There is chemotherapy. There is radiation. There are doctors with fancy papers and fancy microscopes and fancy knives just waiting to dissect you, not remembering you are a real person with real feelings and a real problem.
Sometimes, the days are better.
Sometimes, the days are not.
And for a lucky few, the ones who survive the poking and prodding and inquiries of, “How do you feel today?”, remission is achieved. It pauses. The pain momentarily ceases.
But for how long?
Depression is such a cruel punishment. There are no fevers, no rashes, no blood tests to send people scurrying in concern - just the slow erosion of self as insidious as cancer. and like cancer, it is essentially a solitary experience; a room in hell with only your name on the door.
