“What a mystery this world. One day you love them and the next day you want to kill them a thousand times over.”

Another successful year at the Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade is complete! This was my third year attending and, has been my tradition, I made my costume based on one of Eiko Ishioka’s designs. This one is my interpretation of the Masked Bandit from Tarsem Singh’s film, The Fall.
The mask, bodice, and overskirt were all handmade by yours truly. I hand placed the military braiding detail on the bodice and handstitched most of it myself (I spared my fingers and my time by using a machine for the straight lines). The bodice was the most time intensive piece I’ve made to date, having gone through about 3 mock ups before landing on my final pattern and spent about 8 hours applying all of the gold tape and braiding. Not to mention, I still want to go back to add more buttons! But I’m incredibly proud of it and grateful for the lessons I learned along the way! 🖤
