If you are reading this, it means I have finally found a way to contact those outside of the bounds of whichever dimension I am currently residing in. And with that, I must send out a critical message, one that I hope could one day be passed on to those residing in my home dimension:
I have made a grave mistake.
I trusted the wrong person. I bit off more than I could chew. I endangered the lives of everyone in my dimension. And for that, I will apologize. I am currently in the process of making things right. So, if anyone is looking for me—or if anyone even cared enough to notice my absence, for that matter—just know that I am not coming back.
I will keep this blog as a sort of log for the duration of my existence, as proof that I do exist, that I am still here. Feel free to ask any questions regarding it. However, due to the current circumstances surrounding this endless voyage through the vast expanses of the multiverse, I must keep my guard up at all times. To those back in my dimension, if there's one piece of advice you ever take to heart, let these words be what you hold onto for the rest of time:
Trust no one. Not even yourself.
Sincerely,
Vincent Whittman
[OOC BELOW CUT]
This AU is pretty much the essence of the fanfic tag "crack taken seriously" because it started with a silly commentary that pretty much relayed the fact that I think Vincent "Vox" Whittman from Hazbin Hotel and Ford Pines from Gravity Falls are kind of similar and my autistic brain got attached QUICKLY. But yeah, this is a thing now. Portal Vincent. He's got a twin brother in this AU. And is more open about his nerdiness. And is a better person, obviously. The town he was researching/residing in prior to his accidental dimension-hopping days is known as Calamity Shores, a coastal town in Oregon (I had to make it a coastal town because sharks). Anyways I love this nerdy bisexual. Have two of the references I made for him (first is current outfit, second is post-portal—we'll probably never see it on this blog, but I feel like it's too important not to share).
So, basic rules/info:
Rules:
No bigots
No godmodding
Mildly freaky asks are allowed (this is a HAZBIN au, after all), but not TOO far because I feel kind of uncomfortable with it
Crossovers+OCs are VERY welcome!
Magic anons are also allowed! (Give this guy a TV head at some point it'll be funny)
And that's all I've got for now, but I will add more if problems arise. Just be respectful of the mod, alright?

*zey seem to be holding gifts, they look like a child wrapped them, the one on top is labeled with a doodle of anti-hench, he doesn't need to know who the other gift is for-*
[Vincent approaches cautiously, inspecting zeir eyes from what he believes to be a safe distance, before his posture relaxes slightly.]
"Well, don't know why you'd want to venture out into any nightmare realm, of all places—it's quite the dangerous place, after all. I've only survived this long because I stay on the move. Hop into different dimensions. Always keep my guard up. You never know who, or what, is out to get you, alright?"
*zey adjust the gifts, opting to put them in a storage portal for now*
I was trynna find the one one of my adopted dads resides in, but I seem to have gotten lost along the way, and I'm quite aware of the dangers that can be found in the multiverse
Anyway, I haven't introduced myself yet, you may refer to me as Mystery
[Vincent nods in acknowledgement, silently making an "ohhhhhhhh" type of expression. Idk how to explain it. But you get what I'm saying, right?]
"Ah, so you're well-versed in multiversal travel already. That's good. And there are... other nightmare realms out there? And your father lives there? Willingly?"
"In any case, it's lovely to meet you, Mystery. I'm Vincent Whittman. I'm a scientist, and although I'm well-versed in a multitude of fields of research, I tended to focus my research on cryptozoology, the paranormal, and marine biology—although, that final one's more of a hobby than a career."
Infinite universes, infinite possibilities and all that
*zey shrug at his 3rd question*
Pretty sure it was the usual story of he got pushed thru the portal during an argument with my uncle, his twin brother, but he also doesn't seem to have any interest right now in returning to earth
*zey fidget with the bracelet on zeir wrist, the one Reina gave zem, pink, purple, and black beads with zeir name spelled out in elements from the periodic table with fox beads on either side of zeir name*
I like learning about different creatures, dad is similar in that, except his interest is more in moths than aquatics from what I know of, tho I different version of him, well, technically he's biologically my uncle too, but regardless, I know sailing is/was something that interested him at one point in time
"Oh, yeah, I know there's infinite universes and thus infinite possibilities, but still, I'd imagine the nightmare realm would be an... unpleasant place to live in ANY universe. After all, there's an infinite amount of numbers between one and two, and none of them are three. And that's not even mentioning the fact that..."
[Vincent pauses, before sighing.]
"Nevermind. Would this man happen to be named Stanford Pines? Someone informed me about him recently, mentioned his story is quite similar to mine. From what you are describing, that seems to be the case. And he's interested in sailing? Did he also live in Calamity Shores before being pushed through the portal? Because my w... research partner" [—Vincent says the word "research partner" as if the phrase isn't completely correct, yet doesn't know if the word he first reached for would be the correct way to describe them, either—] "and I had our lab built onto a lighthouse back when I still resided in my home dimension, seeing as the town was right on the coast. I'm quite impartial to moths. They're not my absolute favorite creature—that honor goes to sharks—but I'm not an avid moth hater, either. Perhaps I should try and get in touch with him sometime."
"Hmmm, that's interesting. Although my lab was disconnected from the rest of Calamity Shores due to a section of woods, along with the fact that both of the towns are in Oregon, judging by your description, it doesn't sound like the town of Gravity Falls is a coastal town..."
[Vincent seems like he's about to ask something else, but a switch suddenly flips in his mind when Mystery mentions Stan, the Mystery Shack conundrum, and the portal.]
"...Wait. So, this Stan guy is Ford's brother? And he turns the lab into a tourist trap? And he fixes the portal?!"
The surface first floor yes, the basement remains the same since that's where the portal is, and the rest is used for just living in, relatively it's not that much of the shack that's used for the tourist trap stuff
*zey fidget with zeir ring*
His reasoning for fixing the portal is to get Ford back
*Regi pokes their petals over zeir shoulder, by all appearances he's a regular crocus flower*
[Vincent is silent for a moment. He doesn't even register Regi the sapient crocus. He's more fixated on the fact that the portal is going to be fixed.]
"...Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. Is he— Did Ford neglect to write in any warnings regarding the consequences of activating the portal, or is Stan just reckless enough to ignore them?! Actually, don't answer that, I'm already stressed enough as it is."
[Vincent takes a couple of deep breaths, attempting to calm himself.]

CHESSIE! The Chesapeake Bay sea monster! She's actually the first cryptid I ever encountered, which ended up inspiring me to look into cryptozoology as a career path, but yeah, she's real. Real friendly, too.
you could look sillier than a triangle head, you could have a tv for a head instead
What do you mean by that? Although that'd definitely be a figurative AND literal pain to deal with, I'm not sure if that'd be worse than having a face that ALSO pretty much functions as a demonic spy camera. Honestly, I'd rather have the TV head.
(aggghhhh out of anonss)
YEAH!! his name is Stanford Pines. Bill tricked him into making a portal for him and he got trapped in the multiverse for thirty years
i am NOT tricking you.
not sure about his opinions on sharks
Hmmm... He seems like a decent guy. Still going to keep my guard up on the off chance I encounter him, though. Especially since the jury's still out on the shark thing.
Fake ass shark enjoyer. All sharks are incredible and should never be insulted. Although I do prefer threshers over lemon sharks, I adore the lemon shark's amicable attitude towards humans all the same. Each and every species of shark has its own unique traits, and that makes them all the more wonderful.
which is better: great white shark or hammerhead shark?
Oooooo, yeah, that's a tricky one. I think I'll have to go with the hammerhead on this one, but only because the largest species of hammerheads, the great hammerheads, are critically endangered. There are only around 200 great hammerheads left in the ocean, primarily due to overfishing and high demand for their distinctive fins in the shark fin trade. The fact that this species matures quite slowly and has low reproductive rates doesn't exactly help with this fact. It sucks. I absolutely hate that humans have hunted these incredible creatures to near extinction.
