❝So, in other words, she did all of this because she’s got a couple dozen knots loose in her head? I should have guessed that much.❞ replied Urick from behind his helmet, lilac colored hues centered on the talking orbs of light. ❝That must mean you two aren’t much better off either, mentally or morally.❞
Urick would pause, his sight briefly shifting from the orbs to the now confirmed mad woman. No doubt, she could be seen basking in the fruits of her murder laden labour. At the same time, Urick felt and heard a..squish beneath one of his shoes. He could only assume that he had stepped in what was probably the remains of some unlucky person, or person’s. The masked man could only imagine how long that was going to take to clean off his prized footwear, but there were more important things to focus on right now, like the sanguinary trio before him, of course.
❝Well, I’m sure you all had your fun, tearing people to shreds and what not,❞ continued Urick, lilac hues trained on the orbs once again. ❝but I think it’s time you guys left this town,❞ he ended his sentence with a louder voice, his hopes being that the woman heard him. ❝ALL of you.❞
❝Wouldn’t want you three to start in on any innocent people now, or any more if you already have. That wouldn’t be very nice if you ask me.❞
The elven woman seems to flinch at the way the stranger raises his voice, her head raising from her blissful, awestruck stare at the bloodied ground. However, she stays perfectly rooted in place until beckoned by Undine.
「 Woman... that is enough. 」
And so she meanders over, and somehow she seems calmer. To assume her docile would not be quite correct -- mayhaps sedated is better applicable.
Salamander takes his turn to speak--
「 You will do well to remember that we pact partners can recognize each other. so tell us」
「 𝖜𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖉𝖔𝖊𝖘 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖕𝖆𝖗𝖙𝖓𝖊𝖗 𝖔𝖋 𝖙𝖍𝖊 𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖕𝖊𝖗 𝖍𝖆𝖛𝖊 𝖙𝖔 𝖕𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖈𝖍 𝖔𝖋 𝖒𝖔𝖗𝖆𝖑 𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙𝖓𝖊𝖘𝖘?. 」
Arioch merely stands there as her pact beat converses on her behalf, her expression vacant and her eyes tired.

Urick gave a casual nod of the head. ❝I know. It probably ended up as a Ogre’s back-scratcher or something. It’s loss is a huge shame.❞ Urick was jesting, of course. It wasn’t a shame at all. He felt that a weapon like this ’Mourning Thorn’ was one of the last things this woman needed to get her hands on.
Thankfully she didn’t press the matter, that made things a whole lot easier, but even if she had, there was no way Urick was going to let her know where the axe might be. He didn’t want to be responsible for the gore filled mayhem she would bring about with it in tow.
Speaking of gore filled mayhem…
❝You know,–❞ continued Urick, speaking to the woman and her orbs in general. Someone in the trio had to answer if the others didn’t, right? ❝– I’m just a little curious, why did you do all of this? Unless you’ve got one eye, a mark on your tongue, and a terrifying smile, most people don’t paint the ground with this much red for no reason.❞
「 𝔰𝔥𝔢 𝔥𝔞𝔰 𝔤𝔬𝔫𝔢 𝔪𝔞𝔡. 」
the spirits speak in perfect unison, continuing their dance around one-another not so unlike the manner of an ouroboros. the elf woman had wandered some few meters away, quite taken to leaning over the carnage with arms extended behind her -- as if looking down at the mess was some form of delightful wonder.
but undine and salamander stay put, hovering before the masked stranger, had they appeared to normal eyes somewhat more than glowing orbs, it’d be evident that they were not looking at him -- but over his shoulder.
「 past grievances have made her this way. 」
so utters the feminine personality. and the masculine completes the sentiment;
「 it is why we were drawn to her. 」

( Put Seere down. )
She’s got that crazy look in her eyes. Not the usual crazy look, but the one she gets when she forgets Seere isn’t a mid-afternoon snack. He’s gotten good at telling the difference between the two, she’s surprisingly easy to read once you get past the being insane.
( Or I’ll kick you half to death. )
A lie. He’d probably kick her only a quarter to death.
She’s good at killing things, after all.
— oh dear, he’d caught her. seere is light in her arms; she’s carrying him much like she’d held her own children long ago. if not for the maddened way she looks at him, perhaps one who didn’t know better would assume it was an innocent, motherly act.
of course, she is looking at the boy in such a way. of course, caim knows better.
‘ mmm... ’
she does as she’s told, however, and seere meanders away to resume whatever he’d been doing. so innocent he is... like he’d no idea what could have just happened.
‘ ...hungry... ’

Urick was surprised at how much this woman was actually listening to him, as well as the semi-coherent manner in which she responded. Urick could only assume that this was a rare occurrence, or that the feminine sounding orb had gotten things wrong about their friend here.
❝Funny you should ask,–❞ continued Urick, as he lowered his scythe. ❝,– because I don’t know.❞ Urick wasn’t telling the whole truth here. True, he didn’t know where the weapon exactly was, – he had misplaced it some time ago– but he did have a good idea of where it might currently be, which he said nothing of.
❝I lost it a while back, haven’t seen it in ages. I don’t think you really need it, though.❞ With one of his hands, Urick motioned to the carnage around the woman. ❝You seem pretty capable of butchery without it. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think Caim himself pranced on through here. ❞
— ‘ oh...? but it’s MINE. ’
despite her insisting words she’s quick to resume her oddly pleasant humming; and as bizarre as the situation stands it’s nearly surprising that she’s not yet merrily dancing through the bloody mess that surrounds her as if it were a field of tulips and daisies.
mayhaps it’s her madness; or perhaps it’s that she’s too gleefully distracted by something that only a madwoman would find entertaining. or maybe some part of her finds comfort in the masked man’s follow-up. but whatever the reason she seems fairly resigned to his answer.
‘ what a shame... ’
undine and salamander continue to float at her shoulders. it’s almost THOUGHTFUL, the way one revolves around the other in a fraught silence.

Thinking about what the woman just said, and what the masculine voiced orb had spoken of before, Urick was almost cringing beneath his helmet. It was all but official to Urick now, this woman was a danger to children, and he made a mental note to start warning people about that when he got the chance. Making no remarks on the matter to either the elf or her orbs, Urick too was silent, up until the woman next spoke.
❝Mourning Thorn?❞ The weapon this woman had inquired about, an axe called Mourning Thorn, that was vaguely familiar to Urick. It took him a moment, but Urick was able to recall something; the name brought images of a crude looking axe-like weapon with a few spikes running along one side to mind. ❝I think I might have.❞ Urick held up his scythe for comparison.
❝It was about this big, was much harder on the eyes, and had some points on one side, right?❞
— ‘ yes… –mourning thorn. ’
against all chance it would appear that he knows exactly of which she speaks. it’s no easy task to discern whether or not she’d posed the question with conscious assumption that he would, or if his weapon merely reminded her of her own. perhaps some memories can stand firm as ROCKS against the maddening current of her mind – once in a while.
she hums rather PLEASANTLY, and the color of the tune is a harsh contrast to the ichor at her feet.
‘ –where is it ? ’
A smol request commission for @voxreus ! I hope you like them ! You guys can see how horrible i am with consistency with faces lol
I agree with Hatter. Vivi, your vast brain of Drakengard/NieR knowledge should be shared with the world. B)
it could be fun tbh, though maybe something I’d do on Three instead of Arioch. I really do love this universe and its lore so WE SHALL SEE
I feel like we need a special "DID YOU KNO" segment with you as the host just spouting a random Drakengard/NieR fact. It'd be a glorious series.

ITS TRIVIA TIME
DID YOU KNO that Drakengard elves are largely immune to the powers of a dragon because their blood is poisonous to them?
This is why they were slaughtered en masse when the Cult of the Watchers began to contend with dragons during the war :>

[Focus shifted to the other orb, it’s remark causing Urick to raise an eyebrow beneath that helmet of his. With the way it was worded, Urick was not entirely sure how to feel about that answer, the ’those who have aged’ bit in particular. Urick hoped that didn’t mean what it sounded like.] ❝Alright? I don’t suppose you could expand on that, could y–….❞ [The woman’s sudden question interrupted Urick, but it was a telling one; it seemed as if she knew Caim.
Would she listen to him? Urick didn’t know, but seeing as she had just displayed a bit of coherence, Urick went ahead and tried to communicate.]
❝Yes he is, actually. Not here specifically, but he’s around somewhere murdering people, destroying things, or maybe even tending to flowers, in a manner of speaking.❞
— ‘ what a shame-- sometimes he’s with such a LOVELY sweet young boy... ’
she trails off, like her well of words had run dry. a quiet woman is she, her mind often so mad that thoughts of communication come few and far between. oddly, her tonality carries more disappointment in the latter half of her statement than the former -- as if caim’s presence isn’t her immediate concern. undine and salamander dance in the air like they were monkeys upon her shoulder, but they too have no further comment to offer.
in the quiescence she peers at his weapon; what may well be a SCYTHE held not necessarily at the ready, yet still in a viable range of reaction should she misstep.
its convex shape reminds her of something... something she must have dropped a long time ago.
‘ my axe... have you seen mourning thorn ? ’
