What I'm Reading:
Hannah Arendt, a German-Jewish philosopher, coined the phrase "the banality of evil" when reporting on the Nuremburg trial of Nazi bureaucrat Adolf Eichmann.
She also wrote this article "Thinking and Moral Considerations," where she describes Eichmann's inability (or refusal) to consider the consequences of his actions. She considered the idea that a person must disregard self-reflection and conscientious thought to engage in evil action.
Also, the following essay is a modern legal reading of Hannah Arendt's book.
