When a pirateās ship wrecks and washes ashore an island inhabited by warrior cats, shenanigans may occur. A clangen blog by ChallengerHolly Screenshots from game will be used in this blog! If any dev has an issue with this, please let me know and I will stop using screenshots.
Itās art fight 2026!!! Iāll be at ChallengerHolly on team tragedy š
Usually I try to revenge everyone but last year I couldnāt keep up </3 Iāll always prioritize revenge but Iāll just be having fun this year and try not to put too much pressure on myself if I start to fall behind again.
I typically draw furries, warriorcats, pokemon, and like trying things outside my comfort zone in Artfight
Iām so happy you all are interested in my silly marooned pirate cat clan that has consumed my mind these past few months haha
For 100 followers, I thought Iād share a little exercise I did along with my thoughts on cat ages. Yapping about cat ages and my attempts to draw Morel at various ages below the cut but hereās a baby Moreldapple if youre not interested in all that.
So if you look up a cat years/human years chart, most look something a bit like this:
3 month old cat = 4 year old human
6 month old cat = 10 year old human
9 month old cat = 12 year old human
12 month old cat = 15 year old human
18 month old cat clan that= 21 year old human
2 year old cat = 24 year old human
This is useful for real life but not so much for warrior cats š My biggest issue is that a new apprentice should not be comparable to a 10 year old child, theyāre getting trained for war and might DIE but they should be in elementary school at that age! Brokenstar was literally a villain for having child soldiers, but the standard age isnāt great as is. Then at 1 year, the cat would be compared to a 15 year old? Thatās a full warrior or med cat being younger than a high school graduate! So I started to think about how I wanted to portray cat ages in my comic and I came up with a new metric based more around life stages.
1 month=toddler (2 year old)
2 month= kindergartener (5 year old)
3 month = early elementary school (8 year old)
4 month= late elementary school (10 year old)
5 month = 6th grade (preteen)
6 month (apprenticeship starts) = 7th grade
7 month = 8th grade
8 month = HS freshman
9 month = HS sophomore
10 month = HS junior
11 month = HS senior
12 month = graduate (young adult)
This makes apprentices and warriors a bit more mature than real life cat age charts would. Young teens seems like a better age to be training for battle than CHILD. Plus this time scale puts recently graduated warriors at the same age as recently graduated students! I kinda wish that apprenticeships lasted longer, more like 15 moons or so, to cover some young adult years but alas. The only thing I donāt like is the rapid growth into slower growth. Anyone have any thoughts on my cat to human age scale?
And then of course I had to practice some designs to see how I would draw cats at various ages. When I initially did my cat designs, I wasnāt thinking too hard about it but now I realize I have cats that are about to start growing up moon by moon. To practice, I went with my favorite girl, Moreldapple! Since sheās old at the start of the comic, it would be the most spoiler-free character to pick.
How did I do? Any thoughts on my cat age charts? Since the comic goes month by month this will be important as kits grow up so I want to make sure I like it!
I decided that I wasnāt having fun trying to visualize this cat without a reference anymore so I made him one! His appearances are off model now but Iāll add that to the ever growing list of things Iāll redo if I ever feel like it. Also all my cats are off model ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Meet Rumblestripe, aka cat that started threatening shipwreck survivors on sight no questions asked
Here it is everyone! My third draw 6 clangen cats. I hope everyone likes their little guys
First up is Guststar from @everclan! I've been really loving the story so far, love the doomed yuri between Mousemoss and Cougarclover. I can't wait for more cats to join Everclan too, mostly so Guststar isn't alone anymore.
The second cat is Wrenkit from @hopeclan-arise! I just want Wrenkit to be happy. I also just wanna pick Wrenkit up and hug him.
The third cat is Captain Jack/Captainstar from @voyageclan! I like cats, I like pirates, so I love the combination of the two! I was planning on originally drawing Osprey, but Captain Jack won out in the end.
The fourth cat is Shadowstar from @hope-clan-chronicles! I like Shadowstar. I feel sorry that they have to deal with Weedspots though.
The fifth cat is Ryeshade from @doeclan! Gotta love our murderous characters. I like Ryeshade, I do feel bad that she murdered Zarya though. Still one of my favorite cats though.
The final cat is Twigpaw from @eveningclangen! I think Twigpaw is fairly underrated in the Eveningclan cast, so I'm happy to draw him :]
And as a reminder, I'll be returning from my hiatus June 5th!
Captain Jack: seafoam-blue tom. 71 moons. The captain of the feline crew. He is arrogant and prideful, but fiercely protective of his crew.
Osprey āOzzyā: purplish tabby she-cat. 41 moons. Stoic and loyal first mate to Captain Jack. She comes off as cold and blunt.
Willy: white young tom. 6 moons. Insecure and cautious
Another page! I almost redid this one when I finished because I feel incredibly āmehā about it but I remembered my goal in this blog is to have fun so I decided that it would be more fun to keep moving forward.

A new scene, a new setting, and MORE CATS. This scene comes from a border patrol prompt, but I didnāt feel it fit to call it border patrol before the cats know any borders.
I feel like this is going to be the point where I really start trusting the process in my pages. I dreaded coloring because I knew I needed to convey a jungle scene. Honestly, I am so much happier than the beach scene! I had no idea what to do in such an empty space and I think it shows. But here, I was able to just turn off my brain and work on my setting and incorporate the cats so much easier. Iām slowly learning that backgrounds arenāt evil and that they are cool actually, last year I did a few full background pieces on my TikTok for speed paints and those really helped me out here!
Anyways Iām excited that Iām keeping up with this! Iām still not fully through what Iāve decided will be my stopping point in-game for this story but I have been writing the overall story as I go and Iām hoping to give every character an arc if I can. I have decided that I will finish this scene and go back and do some prologue work that I probably needed to do before I started posting hehe :3c yaāll get the blogging experience though.
Rain: black tom, 42 moons. He is strong and capable, gets along well with most cats due to his easygoing personality
Morel: golden she-cat, 117 moons. Strong, competitive, and boisterous.
Lily: silver queen, 120 moons. She is a fierce and capable cat but can be a bit insecure in social situations. mother to two young kits and adoptive mother of an older kitten
I finished a scene! I finished a scene!! Yesssss!
I have the whole next scene thumbnailed and I think Iāll start working on that asap. Afterwards I thiiiiink Iām gonna go back and do some prologue stuff to introduce the characters and setting now that Iām warmed up and have been thinking about it a lot.

Iāve been a bit lazy working on coloring this page! I was pretty locked in when I sketched it out and did lineart but coloring is not my favorite so I really dragged my feet oops. I originally wanted to post this with the final page of the hunting patrol buuuuuut I would rather keep it moving at this point I think! Also I may go back and redo parts of pages as I figure out my style, itās been a loooong time since Iāve done a comic and Iām letting things be inconsistent while Iām figuring things out. On page one I heavily referenced sharks and a grey foxes and the result was it feeling out of place next to the heavily stylized cats that Iām used to drawing, so I tried to not use references besides my own work on page one for this page! I think that and adding the classic āXā eyes for the shark really helped fix something nagging me about page one.
Feeling conflicted about something! I love South American wildlife but my options are generally more limited if I decide to place this story in the Caribbean instead of the mainland. And im not opposed to bending rules and being like āscrew it, jaguar timeā but if I do that too much itāll bother me. I want macaws! Possums! Lil monkeys! Toucans!!!
Should I shift the setting to a delta of the Amazon river so I get that sweet sweet Amazon rainforest diversity and loose the finality of āthe only way off this island is by boatā
Should I say screw it this is fantasy and just let there be more biodiversity than there should be on an island loosely based on the Caribbean?
Iām a zookeeper and my degree is in wildlife biology Iām thinking too hard about this. I already have had to change a coyote encounter to a rare subspecies of grey fox to accommodate the lack of coyotes historically in the Caribbean Oop
After posting the first two pages I realized somethingā¦.. pirate cats should really BE PIRATES. So Iām scrapping everything and starting over, itās ADVENTURE ON THE HIGH SEAS TIME!!!
YARGGGGGGG READY THE MAIN SAILS WE BE SHOVIN OFF!!!
April fools š
Iām really enjoying working on the next few pages, with cats on all four paws as starclan intended.
When I was looking for an inspiration pic I came across a super obviously AI generated pic that I decided was free real estate for tracing. I told myself not to spend more than an hour on this, so itās truly quality. I had to keep the haunted beer glass, it is the best part

Fox: Voyageclan does not take place specifically anywhere, though I think of the settings similar to the Caribbean due to its rich history of piracy. The game generated this prompt with a coyote in the role of the fox. However, coyotes do not appear in the Caribbean islands, just along the mainland. I wanted something to fit the setting better, so I looked for another canid that could take its place. In my research I found that foxes are largely not present in the Caribbean, though there is a subspecies of grey fox present in Cozumel. I may not perfectly stick to things native to the Carribean, but I will try to commit to at least featuring South American wildlife and justify any non-native species as I can š
I decided to start posting Voyageclan as I go! I do not have a lot of time to work on a large scale comic, and I really just wanted to blog about Voyageclan more than make some grand story with a strict schedule, so here I go! I do have a lot of house-keeping planned for moon zero, just to introduce the cast and how they form Voyageclan, so moon zero will probably be a bit long. I also have not done comics or any storytelling in a while so Iām sure that there will be growing pains but I gotta start somewhere! I donāt know when the next part is coming but thank you for the love Iāve gotten on my characters so far! See you next time!
If youāre looking for warriors OC requests, Iād love something of captainstar or any of the cats Iāve put on my side blog, Voyageclan, that seem fun to you!
I do not think I will ever be at a point that I can have a consistent upload schedule for this project, but I would like it to be enjoyable to follow.
My thoughts are go moon by moon, if it takes multiple posts then I finish the whole moon before I start posting and have a regular posting schedule from there? Like if moon zero ended up being 8 pages Iād have 8 weeks where I post on fridays or something? Then back to the hiatus until moon one was ready to roll. I think that would be better than going whenever a page is ready so that I donāt interrupt the flow of events with a long break during a scene.
