Our Katutubo Village farewell came round so quickly! Only 2 more weeks to go!
The 851kilos of waste collected for 2 weeks were being processed in Baranggay San fernando Norte to turn it to organic fertilizer. With the help of Department of Agriculture, Department of Engineering and volunteers from Baranggay San Roque and San Fernando Norte we were able to spray microorganisms to fastens the decomposition and lessen the smell and flies. After 3-4 weeks, the waste can be used as organic fertilizer.
After 6 weeks of planning, several fundraising activities, 2 days of trekking up the mountains to collect 100 bamboos, 4 days of hard labor and numerous trips to the river to collect water for the construction, 3 massive walls made out of bamboo weaved, a table and a bookshelf built, metaphorical blood, loads of sweat, and possibly a few tears- VSO ICS Team VI193 has successfully finished phase 1 of the tribal hall construction!
To everyone who supported this project- friends, family, donors, community partners, and the lovely people of Katutubo Village
A successful dry run of the Team Planet in the market of barangay san roque with their Solid Waste Management project (Proper Disposal). The team collected 587 kilos of recyclable and bio-degradeable waste and sold it for Php.1000 to their project partner Mr. Manny Cunanan. Thumbs up for Team Planet.
