“Oh…kay.” He feels himself blush at Spock’s name for him, despite the serious situation. He knows Spock’s knowledge of telepathy is just as good as his scientific knowledge, and Jim trusts that. “Okay.”

He keeps his fingers over Spock’s in their way of affection and closes his eyes. Hopefully Spock closes his too, and doesn’t see the tears falling down Jim’s cheeks. He’s still smiling, though, acting strong even though Spock can feel how scared he is inside.

Spock can sense his fear, and it matches his own. Regardless of where there next destiny lies, they will forget. He lets his thumbs trail down over the tears on Jim's cheeks and brush them away. He takes a deep breath and leans in, firmly placing his mouth over Jim’s in a kiss.

He then lets his hands move up to touch Jim’s psi points. His own telepathic abilities flood with their shared emotions. Not breaking the kiss, he lets their minds collide.

“Make me.” literally has SO much sexual tension. like someone being like shut up and the other is like "make me.” and then they pause in their arguing in and look at each other’s lips!!!!!

“Hey, listen to me.” Jim puts on his best authoritative captain voice and reaches up to place his hands over Spock’s. He hopes Spock understands he can use his touch telepathy on him anytime. “They’ll be fine. We’ll be fine. I love you, and nothing can take that away.” He feels tears start up, but ignores them.

“When you find me, just kiss me, and I’ll remember. If I don’t…then, I’ll know then.” He laughs. “I’m always going to love you. I did before here, and I will in the next….life or whatever. I promise, nothing will take that away.”

He leans forward to press his forehead against Spock’s. When they breath, their breaths are mingled. He wants to kiss Spock, but as always, he waits for him to make the move. 

Spock closed his eyes and let his abilities show him what he already knew. Jim did love him. Spock was never alone in his feelings, but he would not remember that. It would be back to thinking this was a secret he’d have to guard. He would not remember that he held and kissed and touched Jim. 

“T’hy’la, perhaps if we meld, we can save this feelings. And we will remember.” He willed it to be true. He knew in his hybrid heart that they were t’hy’la, and such a connection could not be erased by a computer.

“I…uh, didn’t take you for the sentimental type, Spock.” He wiped away the tears that had fallen on the walk home and stepped in. He carefully moved around the neat stacks of objects before crouching down in front of Spock. He gave a weak smile.

His own things had barely been unpacked, but he didn’t care. He didn’t have anything too important that he wanted to cry over.

“I guess you heard. Home…it sounds great, huh? Or, do you think it’s true that we’re onto the next part of the experiment?” He trusted Spock’s scientific opinion on that.

“Either way...what about them?” Spock strokes the cat’s chin. “I know he is just part of a code, but he was real to me. I am getting emotional. I am feeling, and I do not like it.” 

He placed both his hands on the other man’s face, looking deep into those blue eyes. “I have lost you too many times. I cannot lose you again. It is said that once the code wipes, there is a chance we will forget. I do not want to forget this....” His voice wavered as his control slipped.

He’s carefully laid out all of his belongings here. The unimportant ones, such as his street clothes and cell phone, are in the back. His important ones --notebooks full of research, are in the front.

Mementos of his relationship with Jim lay in his lap. A flyer for the winter ball, photos they took together, even the small scrap of dryer sheet from the latest adventure with laundry. He doesn’t cry. Vulcans cannot cry.

He reaches out and placed one hand on the cat, who’s a pressed ball against his leg. The other goes to Drowzee’s capsule. He sighs.

“What will come of us?” He turns his head sharply towards the door. “What will come of us?”
