Making someone laugh after theyâve just finish crying is one of the most beautiful things to ever exist
âI looked and looked at her, and I knew, as clearly as I know that I will die, that I loved her more than anything I had ever seen or imagined on earth.â
â Vladimir Nabokov
there are ways to be beautiful that donât involve your appearance
âI admired her from afar for a while, and eventually summed up the courage to tell her my feelings. She told me that she felt the same way. This was before cell phones, so at first our meetings were limited to random interactions on the street. But then we both got mobiles and started talking on the phone. Eventually she told me that she wanted to marry me. I sent my mother to ask her family for permission, but they didnât think I was a suitable match. They were a higher class of people. They were educated. Her father was a business owner. I tried to plead with them: âIâm not paralyzed,â I told them. âI work. Why am I not good enough?â But I was never given an answer.â (Hunza Valley, Pakistan)
12 Rules on Love Iâve Learned as Iâve Matured 1) There is a difference between secrecy and privacy. People should know of your relationship, but not every detail about it. 2) Someone you meet at sixteen can mean everything to you when youâre twenty. Someone you meet at twenty can mean nothing to you by twenty one. 3) Having history with someone shouldnât be the only reason for a future with them. 4) Love is not that you canât live without your significant other, but you could sustain yourself with their absence if you had to. 5) Materialism is for things; not people. Forbidding your significant other from talking to the opposite sex is unhealthy. 6) Communicate. Even when your pride tells you not to. 7) Donât rush anything. Timing is everything. 8) But become aware of how quickly that time can run out. If you desperately know how you feel, tell them. 9) Support them. Become their biggest fan. Remind them of their accomplishments, but love them for their downfalls too. 10) Indisputably, opinions on your relationship will appear from everyone. Dismiss them. 11) It should be easy loving someone. 12) At the end of the day, you need someone you can feel comfortable with. To laugh with. Enjoy life with.

change yourself only for yourself
Itâs become very apparent to me that the older you are the less praise youâre going to get. When youâre 3 and you paint a picture outside the lines, they give you gold stars. When youâre 10 and you score a goal, they take you out for ice-cream. But when youâre 17 and struggling to fit in, no one gives you a hug just for making it through the day. And when youâre 23 and pulling long hours at the office, no one asks if youâre alright. And you start to wonder if you are, if thereâs a point to any of it. The answer is yes. Because good work, real good work that shapes your character, doesnât need to be acknowledged. You grow in the silences, in the reflections, in the inhales and exhales that let you know youâve made it from one moment to the other.

Lately Iâve been asking myself what it means to grow up. And I think itâs this: you forget the mistakes youâve made, you let go of the grudges you still hold onto, you donât care what strangers think about you, you laugh when you want and accept life for what it is - the good and the bad - because what goes up must come down and because every moment needs to be savored. I want to taste life. I want to be and I want to become and I want to live.

I didnât plan on falling in love with you, and I doubt if you planned on falling in love with me. But once we met, it was clear that neither of us could control what was happening to us. We fell in love, despite our differences, and once we did, something rare and beautiful was created. For me, love like that has happened only once and thatâs why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. Iâll never forget a single moment of it.

Your friendship has brought glorious technicolor to my life. Itâs beein there even in the darkest of times. And I am the luckiest person alive for that gift. I hope I didnât take it for granted. I think maybe I did. Because sometimes you donât see that the best thing thatâs ever happened to you is sitting there, right under your nose. But thatâs fine, too. It really is. Because Iâve realized that no matter where you are or what youâre doing, or who youâre with, I will always, honestly, truly, completely love you.

your softness is the strongest & most powerful part of you.Â
"No one falls in love by choice, it is by chance. No one stays in love by chance, it is by work. And no one falls out of love by chance, it is by choice."
John Green / David Levithan, Will Grayson, Will Grayson
If sheâs too good for you, my God, donât leave her. Make an effort to be good enough instead.
