Ragnar Lothbrok - Vikings Season 2 Promotional Photos
"Skjaldborg means shield-wall in Old Norse, the name was chosen for the bond between brother and sister of the kindred.”
Vikings: Goofing Off
x Ragnar Lothbrok, warrior from the gods.
Is this what you really want, brother?
This man chose to fight against his brother.
She allowed her confusion to cloud her mind, mainly because she was trying to force away the aching pain that was creeping in the longer she stayed to realise she didn’t know the man stood before her. Roxanne was far too stubborn for her own good, inhaling deeply as she closed her eyes as if she was trying to hide away from the encroaching darkness. “Please… Tell me what’s happened. I can fix this…” Her words were a mere whisper now, her fear even freezing her gaze as it refused to look up at him.
It was too much, the pain in his head, the growing one in his chest. He felt so alone and he didn't understand anymore. Where was everybody? His brothers? His sisters? Had something terrible happened? Why was he on his own? Tears slipped from his eyes, unbidden, there and gone, and with a gasp every source of light went out. When he opened his eyes, she was gone, sent away from him by the sheer force of his magic, and with an anguished noise, he fell to his knees. "What is happening to me?"
"Based on the fact that I only got into town a week ago, I would have to say no. Nor do I know what you just called me."
"My name is Fenrir, Son of None. Who are you?"
"Hm…possibly."
"Do you know who I am lille?"
The blood running through her veins suddenly turned ice cold, her muscles ignoring her mind screaming at them to run. Foolishly, she stayed. She would stay as long as he needed her. “You’re scaring me…” Her voice was quiet, almost breaking at her honesty.
His teeth were grinding, the pain in his head expanding. Who was this witch, and why did her mere presence have this effect on him? Whatever it was, he didn't like it, the emotion roiling through him overwhelming him. "You---- should be," he hissed, the room growing that much darker.
In the state I am in now, yes. So its why I came out here. Only you see it. Of course, being in your presence probably not the smartest thing to do on my behalf. I just didn’t have anywhere else to hide really.
I will not harm you while you are like this. Who are you hiding from?
"Then when that’s figured out, I’ll stop sitting near you. Strangers don’t phase me. I’m quite capable of taking care of strangers."
"You think you could 'take care' of me?"
"I’m not leaving until you tell me what’s going on." Glancing upwards, the pain in his eyes seemed to fire at her like blazing arrows, puncturing her own eyes, causing them to sting, yet she furiously blinked them away. As she stepped backwards towards the door, she knew she was taking a huge risk, taking a deep breath as she closed the door. Roxanne knew it could completely backfire on her, but she was stubborn, and she wasn’t going to leave that easily.
Fear, disguised as anger, boiled around him, the air in the room bristling with it. Shadows grew darker, deeper, longer, his face cast in darkness while his eyes glittered ice blue. "I said get out."
As he stepped back, she found herself stepping back too, wondering who the person was before her. He wasn’t Fen… No, something wasn’t right. “Because- I’m Roxanne.” Her words came out with a questioning tone, her mind racing a hundred miles an hour as she tried to fathom what was unravelling before her. “Fen… What’s going on? What happened? It’s okay… You trust me.” She tried to remind him, almost the distance gaze in his eyes told her that there was little hope in her reassurance working.
"Get-- get out." It felt like there was a spike being driven into the center of his head, images he could remember flashing.
Your not? Well then, stay and keep me company? Since you’re not doing anything, and it seems only polite, don’t you think? A helpless woman in the woods, needs a strong man to look after her.
Are you truly so helpless?
