We reach down to our core And earths mothers essence Channel her strength Channel the miracles that happen in the dark dank spaces teaming with life so powerful yet hidden you’d need magnified lenses to see

Our exercise in patience has begun We are hiding again Until we will be summoned To our rebirth And second chances

Lay here with me let us bear witness as the sun takes a bow excuse itself for the moon to have her dance Lay here with me let us marvel at the unending miracle this synchronicity between light and darkness let the beat of our heart and the pace – the death between our breathe be the only consistency there is in this chaos

Sit here beside me let us contemplate the vastness of this thing called the universe Lay here beside me let us drown in the confusion that is the complexity of its workings Laugh here with me in acceptance of our ignorance and stupidity Stand here beside me as we take on what the future throws at us

Between the now and the not yet

The space between the now and the not yet Is where humility is learned Perseverance is honed Patience is acquired Ego comes undone There is no life without dying

The earth vibrates underneath the soles of my bare feet Quivering ever so gently with life Life, shifting soil Shaking with life, pushing through dirt Life, reaching through the dark and dank and putrid and rot to be kissed by the sun again

There will be beauty beyond this fog There will be calm beyond this gust Flowers will bloom where only dried stalks once stood Your sweet smell, though not here, tickles my nose And while I cannot yet touch you I sense you making your way to the place we ought to meet

Untie our tongue

There’s a disease in our midst A presence – like a sulking ghost Stuck between this world and that

A gangrene A cancer A curse An anger so huge no matter how hard we’ve tried to repress it subdue it deny it it doesn’t go away

Like an elephant in the room shifting its weight from one foot to the other it screams for our attention

When was this vow of silence taken When did we all swear to secrecy How was I compelled into it

Why can’t we untie our tongues and say everything that’s bottled up in our chest that scares us that hurts us

Why can’t we stretch our hands and touch each other instead of moving in circles only touching places others have been, have touched

Why do we look out the window instead of staring down our reflection in the mirror until the façade crumbles

Why do we pretend we don’t care we don’t fear we are fine when our insides are mangled up in pain

Christmas trees chopped and binned decorations put away Just like that we snap out of ‘it’ once the things that mark a season are rolled away But let’s not put away our hearts until it’s Christmas again

I'm the root of life's tree The juice that flows beneath I'm the skin that ushers the sun in Burning with fiery will and strength I'm the dark gold buried in fine sand I'm refined by the Sun's glow I am one with nature I'm a warrior I am color and beauty The skin that never cracks I'm the rainbow, I am hope My essence is wrought of love and kinship I am tough! May I be found worthy of discerning wisdom etched on the bark of trees hewn into rocks whispered into discerning ears from generation to generation

May plants teach me their language. the earth Its rhythm the sea its song the sky its signs

May those who left so I could come find me worthy to sit in council learn come of age

May they send me out with blessings on my shoulders prayers on my feet winds in my sails

May I become fluent in a mother tongue that only seeks and speaks truth

May there be a remembrance of the Goddess healer teacher seeker in me

May my knowledge learnings blessings humble me

the courage the strength the will to live truly unashamedly bravely like the daughters mothers crones before me did

May the will

to reject all that was imposed on me religion ideals of femininity standards of beauty notions of success normal good evil respond to my summoning

May my voice

be strongest when i need to say no when i mean to say yes

May we remember

who we were before the world chewed us spat us into it's one size fits all mode

and just like that an old familiar year is rolled away like a well worn out carpet

and just like that a new dawn is gifted us with trembling hands unsteady feet thumbing heart we unwrap it unsure of what lies within

the familiar is safe reliable the uncertain is thrilling exciting

i would rather have a thrilling life than one cocooned in the safe familiar reliable dull
