Talk Show Host - Late Night or Daytime

News Anchor

Field Reporter - fly a News Chopper!

Photojournalist - Freelance, sell photos to tabloids or news outlets

Meteorologist

Superheroes

The relationship of Journalist and Superhero team-ups are a common comic book trope (Vicki Vale, Lois Lane, etc) with many Alter Egos working in the news industry (Clark Kent, Peter Parker, etc). A Broadcasting pack would be a great accompaniment to introduce a new Superhero occult-type, where Reporters chronicle the stories of their herodom or villainy.

IDEA: Painting Skill Improvements

Here is a collection of ideas to improve and refresh the Painting Skill in Sims 4.

The Painting Skill only comes with one frame: Black. It would be a great update if the same color choices we get with Add Frame to Photos (Photography) were applied to our painted art from the Painting Skill.

Empty Frames would be a cool Buy Mode item to add to the game. These empty frames would snap to Small, Medium and Large paintings and come in a variety of sizes, styles and colors. Empty Frames could also be used as a stand-alone wall decor item to create an artistic gallery feature wall.

Additions like these would enhance the Painting Skill and could fit perfectly as a Kit, or include in a larger Stuff Pack that introduces a new Art Hobby, such as a Sculpting or an Antique/Art Collector pack.

IDEA: Folk Art category for the Painting Skill

The cultural additions of wearable CAS and regional Foods are welcomed inclusions to the game. To expand upon this, what if your Sims could paint their own Folk Art using the easel?

Sims could decorate their homes with hand-painted art of their heritage. For example, Artesanía paintings would beautifully compliment the world of Ciudad Enamorada and Selvadorada. Nihonga folk art would add the perfect painted touch to homes in Mt. Komerobi. Go beyond DLC to include other folk styles: Kalamkari, Tingatinga, Dalmalning, Gongbi, Wycinanki and so many more.

Choosing the Folk Art category would behave the same as any other painting category, producing a random cultural painting to sell or display. Easel > Folk Art > Small, Medium, Large

Let's introduce a new art style for the Painting skill: Folk Art.

IDEA: Occult Paintings & Crafts

What if Occult Sims had their own painting category on the easel? What if art truly imitated Occult life?

This is what it could look like:

Occults could express their unique lived experience and view of their world through art. These works would make wonderful decorative pieces for their homes keeping with the theme exclusive to their Life State. Paintings would reveal "Oh, a Werewolf must've painted this."

This painting feature would only become available if playing as that Occult. For instance, clicking on the easel as a Vampire Sim gives the option to paint Vampire, Pop Art, Impressionism, etc. It would be very rewarding and add more creative depth to all Life States the Sims 4 has to offer. Aliens could decorate their homes with galactic-inspired paintings. Servos could produce robotic Figure Paintings or pixel art.

This feature needn't be limited to just the easel. Child Occults could produce their own crafts on the Activity Table. Spellcaster children could craft a glitter-and-glue magic wand. Alien children could craft a paper plate UFO. Mermaid children could draw dolphins. Vampire children could craft a popsicle spiderweb.

Woodworking could also play a role with Occult art. Vampires could create a small Coffin trinket box, and then advance to a full-size Coffin furniture item, both rough and refined versions. Spellcasters could craft the common Wood Wand at low level, then introduce a new Intricate Wood Wand at higher skill. Servos could craft a wooden Icosahedron. And so forth.

IDEA: Subgroups for Buy Mode

For the player who owns all the packs, browsing the Buy catalog can be overwhelming and time consuming. 75+ packs of downloadable content (and counting) have created hundreds upon hundreds of Buy Mode assets. The loading time to generate thumbnails for each category also accumulates with each new addition of DLC.

With new DLC ever on the horizon, it’s time to add Subgroups within each Subcategory in Buy Mode.

Example of a Subgroup: Decorations > Sculptures > Statues (Category > Subcategory > Subgroup)

REQUEST: Computer UI Navigation

Interacting with the in-game Computer pie-menu has become a mini-game of jumping through hoops. So many choices have been added over time, so many submenus to navigate. More options are added when leveling skills, career promotions, unlocked traits, etc. Sometimes I'll come across something and suddenly remember, "Oh yeah, that exists.” Sometimes losing my place or in the wrong submenu means starting over, clicking and clicking and clicking to find what I'm after. More choices… More choices… More choices…

REFRESH: TV Workout, Fitness Stuff

The Fitness Stuff Pack offers a unique feature to perform a workout routine through the Workout TV channel. However, there are also some unfortunate limitations to the Workout TV channels that could use a second look and hopefully get corrected through a Pack Refresh.

Increase Participation

Did you know that only ONE Sim at a time can use the Workout Channel? This may be by design or an oversight, but that means in a household of 8 Sims, only ONE Sim can work out via the Workout TV channel at a time. No other participants can join in. If I form a group of Sims, this group still cannot work out together at the same time using the Plumboomba Dance or Power Sculpting channels.

The Solution This could be fixed to allow more than one Sim to participate, offer a Work Out Together option for groups , and make it so any Sim at any time to join in when the Workout channel is already playing on the TV.

TVs at Gyms

Allow the Workout channel to be used autonomously when on the Gym lot and with the added touch of townie Sims activating and using this feature on their own. Our playable Sims could then join, and vise versa.

Proposal: Luxury Party Refresh

Next year, this pack is turning 10!

Check out my proposal for a pack refresh for the oldest and first Sims 4 Stuff Pack released in 2015: Luxury Party Stuff.

Let’s celebrate this major milestone with a proper luxurious party.

In this proposal, we explore adding

More stuff to this empty Stuff Pack.

A new social event.

Build mode items.

Diverse hairstyles.

More masculine fashion.

Why refresh?

Luxury Party Stuff has oftentimes ranked at the bottom on pack rank-lists. With only 12 buy items and 40 CAS items, this pack totals a mere 52 items.

Spooky Stuff, also released in 2015, has a whopping 70 items plus a new Spooky Party event. Paranormal Stuff, released in 2021, has a total of 72 items, plus a new career, plus a new lot type, plus new NPCs, plus new gameplay all in one Stuff Pack.

Many players who have paid full price for Luxury Party do not feel they have gotten their money’s worth. Stuff Packs have since evolved to offer so much more in terms of objects and gameplay. Comparatively, Luxury Party is more akin to a Kit and it’s main gameplay objects are no longer exclusive to this Stuff Pack.

I hope my proposal can inspire a refresh for this time-forgotten and obsolete Stuff Pack. There is potential for new gameplay fitting the theme of a Luxury Party. There is plenty of room to add new and modern items. It’s time to make Luxury Party the life of the party again and save it from it’s current “Don’t Buy” ranking and place it onto the “Must Have” list.

REQUEST: Calendar UI Changes

The Sims 4 in-game Calendar needs a streamlined overhaul. Over time, and with the additions of DLC, the Calendar feature has become quite bulky and cumbersome to navigate.

There are overlooked features: Filtering. There is no way to toggle festival notifications on or off. The sidebar list is unnecessarily long. Other in-game features could be added to provide more player convenience and enhance gameplay: Schedule Vacation/PTO, Schedule Club Gatherings.

Mad Science Mosquito Trap

I have miscalculated in my haste to become a vampiric "heartthrob" modeled after the romantic trope as described in popular movies and books. Observe: Mosquitoes feed on plasma. Thusly, I grafted my DNA with the fanged Culicidae Muscipula, or Mosquito Trap. Success! I am a vampire. Yes, hearts throb in my presence, however not with allure, but in alarm.
