since quarantine started acnh has been the main method my mom and i have stayed in contact with each other and whenever i visit her i always dress to impress :~)
bonus: me n my mom vibin’ at her place
i took the photo late bc i got so excited i pressed the wrong button but MY MOM CAME TO MY ISLAND DRESSED LIKE THIS!! the tables have turned
2026 - we’re coming up on 6 years since i made this original post so i figured i’d make an update.
since our animal crossing phase, my mom has proceeded to play through pretty much the entire mario catalog available on the switch (and has even branched out to Kirby and Zelda games!). she keeps asking me when a new animal crossing will come out. meanwhile, i built a pc and got into pc games, and since then i’ve fallen down the rabbit holes of critically claimed MMOs (with an EXPANDED free trial!) and esports, in that exact order.
When the 3.0 ACNH update came out in January my mom and I decided to hop on and start playing again!
six years later, we’re both a little older, and definitely a little wrinklier. but some things will always stay the same.
your move.

Heads up the next big protest in the US is THIS SATURDAY JUNE 14TH (Tomorrow as of posting this!)
These peaceful protests will be taking place all over the US, and at my last count there's something like 2,100 locations that have registered (this has actually grown substantially recently, such that this Axios map from yesterday is already out of date!)
There are so many protests now that I can't even fit them into a single screenshot - and there are even sister protests that will be happening internationally, which you can see here in this more zoomed out, slightly shittier screenshot:
You can find all these locations and more info about the protests at https://www.nokings.org/ - all of these protests will be on June 14th, (tomorrow!) which coincides with the D.C. Military vanity parade being thrown by the current admin.
Given the Huge range of locations this is a great chance to get out there and make some good trouble! As with all prior large protests, Hands Off! and Mayday being the last big ones, these are completely peaceful events and everyone is highly encouraged to attend (I'm actually going to be bringing my parents to mine!), and if you'd like the nokings site has additional resources so you can know your rights going in
Hope to see you all in the streets tomorrow! 🎉
TODAY!!
⚠️ take responsibility
good hunting starts with good eating!
Hey All I wanted to share a resource with my US peeps that I was sent recently that I think is really nicely organized!
my local student union put together this great list of folks to call on different funding committees in the House and Senate (originally organized to reach out about federal funding cuts to research, something that’s been effecting me and everyone I work with a ton), so take a look at this list and give everyone from your state a call!
(For those worried about clicking mystery links the lists look like this and goes on for several pages 👍)
Since it lists all of the members in those committees that means that there are multiple representatives per state in most of them, which means that even if you live in a blue area you can find those red seats that you can and should contact within your own state! (You should also be contacting the Dems too! We need that overwhelming public opinion right now)
Bonus scripts and motivational gifs under the cut for those that would like those resources!
Bringing this back to say I just tried 5calls.org and oh my god it’s a game changer - you just click the topic you want to call about (they have a great long list) and put in your zip code and it immediately brings up a list of numbers and scripts to use - it’ll also include local numbers if they have em so you can hit them all up at once!
Doing it on my phone I could just click the number to call, then set it to speaker and navigate back to the webpage to read off the script and then click to get the next number when I finished- it’s so easy I finished all my calls to my contacts in like 3 minutes I can’t believe I didn’t find this sooner a;lsdjkf
