The Stiles/Donovan situation is to interesting to me, because it really shows how Stiles handles being targeted. He’s very much willing to lunge at Donovan when he’s making death threats at the sheriff, but the sheriff and Scott are right behind him and Donovan’s in cuffs with 2 other officers on both sides of him. The moment that Stiles is completely alone and Donovan isn’t as helpless anymore it’s a different story. Stiles has seen many dangerous beings so him being unprepared kinda shows how much he hides behind his father and the pack, and I get the feeling he’s always in a state of inadequacy compared to the pack (even though they take the most hits, but because they heal Stiles doesn’t consider it an issue). When he told Malia he enjoyed being the Nogitsune and having that kind of power and control over people at the cabin it really didn’t surprise me. I do believe if Stiles had the power he would have tried to overpower Donovan and kill him immediately just for threatening his father when Donovan was still human. Which is why he felt so guilty after everything and acted like it wasn’t an accident because he didn’t want it to be.
Once those poles came down and Donovan was impaled, Stiles’ face was that of shock and then of good riddance. All the lies and lashing out when he’s so obviously hiding something form everyone is a result of him actually wanting Donovan to die and not wanting to be alienated by his main sources of comfort and protection, while not realizing that his pack understands exactly what that feels like and his father wouldn’t even hold it against him and would do it himself as well.
