Big mood. My sister is Black and loves kpop and has been educating herself on the culture, especially making Korean food which tbh sheās gotten really good at, she wants to learn the language, she pursuing music as a career and sheās been teaching herself to cover some of their songs, etc etc.
Even SHE recognizes how absolutely fucking weird these people are. I was very worried she was gonna come around talking about idol this and that but sheās more read up on the way the industry exploits artists and etc. than I am. Yeah, she still has whatever crushes, but this whole obsession over every aspect of these peoples lives, getting upset when they do stuff like dating, hypersexualizing them usually while also infantilizing them, is not inherent to just liking the genre.
And ppl who rlly sit up here like ābut all music is like that!ā Like? No? It is literally not. Even when you have people like the Beyhive their obsession is with BeyoncĆ© as an icon, they do get extra with how they attack any criticism of her, but thereās no hypersexualized fics of her and all this shit. At the very least ppl still understand sheās an autonomous person. That seems to completely skip over kpoppers heads.
And quite frankly the anti-Blackness, colorism, and racism (didnāt two groups JUST get criticized for wearing Nazi symbols???) that exists in the KPop industry is very different from what we see in Western artists likeā¦ even Igloo Australia and Miley Cyrus were recognized as cultural leeches and either faded out of memory or gave up on their anti-Black images to return to their cash cows in whiteness.
Meanwhile you have these Asian singers doing Blackface, straight up stealing choreography, putting on these B-Boy fronts, mimicking Black mannerisms, wearing Black hairstyles, etc etc and then they turn around and go āoh well they didnāt know what it meant thereās not a lot of Black people here theyāre just ignorant they didnāt mean anything by it!ā
Like yāall really want the best of both worlds. Thereās no way to be unaware of a group of people while also biting everything they have. And Iāve seen far too many sketches and docs on those Asian subcultures that physically and verbally imitate Blackness however they can to rlly give half a damn about how yāall feel when Black people get aggressive or irritated when yāall keep pulling this bullshit.
Literally ran cupcakKe off twitter with death threats and hateful comments about her and her body, accusing her of sexualizing or trying to exploit a KPop singer bc she said sheād gladly fuck him, despite them being the same age and her comment not at all implying any way shape or form that she wanted to assault him. She was just expressing thirst, but APPARENTLY thatās only okay when you disgusting freaks write your boylove fics and have entire twitter accounts dedicated to sexual content about these ppl.
There is literally nothing obligating Black people to be nice to you, period. If I have to bully all of you into a hole so youāll stop being obnoxious I literally will I donāt give a shit.
