This shapshot is a selfie of me taken about 5 years ago when I started writing this novel. The illustration on the right is how I see myself when illustrated by my favourite illustrator! I've known and worked with this incredible artist for many years, but when we decided to create a character based on me it was hugely difficult, as I'm such an emotional perfectionist, it can't have been easy for her to put up with me! Sometimes we had to keep redoing illustrations up to 6-7 times to get it right and I have to congratulate my pal for her endless months of patience working with me to get the feel of this character just right for me. In truth, it took us about a year to get her where I wanted her to be on a consistent basis, but over the last 5 years she's got better and better at knowing exactly what I want - hugely dramatic and expressive characterizations which hit you right in the face with the emotions! I've never thought of myself as a writer - as I much prefer to write with pictures - but I couldn't have done that without Bev! X Thanks so much Bev (I'll call her this from now on - until she lets me know that she's happy for me to reveal her full identity!)

This is a snap of me and my wonderful daughter, Ellie Bea. It was taken in our kitchen - and you can see a framed photo of her in the background, where she's hiding behind her piano! Her biggest passion right now is singer-songwriting. She's written a different song for each of the 8 parts of this epic Graphic Novel - she also chose the title "The Visceral Effect", which is far better than the original title I came up with 5 years ago ("Why The Venom?")

The plan so far, is to release all the text and graphics for part 1 of this novel, over the course of this summer, at a rate of one or two pages per day - to see what you guys think of them! She's already written and produced the song for this Part 1 (Venom) and we're filming it over the summer so hopefully it'll be ready to release by the autumn. That's the plan anyway!

I'm totally new to this platform but hopefully it won't take me too long to start finding people with the same interests as us - I'd love to see your work and hear what you think of ours! Thanks for bothering to read to the bottom of this post!!

The story centres around the love between the two main characters, Diz and Vik and how they behave towards one another.

Nobody enjoys suffering but over the course of mine, what's helped me somehow dampen the blow is knowing that it's not all been a complete waste of time! Finally recognising just how much I've learned as a result of it all - and meeting and sharing experiences with others who have gone through a similar experience and know exactly, on the deepest level, how it feels, has been such a relief and joy! It's like meeting your own tribe at last!!!!

All the characters depicted in this novel are based on real people. However, the identity of all excluding four will remain anonymous, for confidentiality purposes. Diz, one of the two main characters, is based on me, WackyD. Elbie and Tomas are based on my twins, Ellie Bea (go-author of the novel) and Tom, creator of "Tom's Truths". Sassy is a true rendition of our wonderful service dog, a fabulous German Shepherd named Sassy Stonelake!
