Monsters Inc 3: Business Development
For those who remember the first film into the works of monster’s incorporated, you will remember that human children were becoming harder to scare and there was the discovery of greater power in laughter than in screaming. Business was booming for a time but as with other growing cities Monstropolis needs greater resources of power. The surplus tanks filled with the power of laughter were dwindling, so the heads at monsters inc had to get their thinking caps on. And fast. Where was the potential to supply the demand for power the city was asking for.
Time and resources went into weeks and months of research and development. Testing.. prototypes, meetings but all dead ends. As pressure mounted, one monster researching human behaviours came across something interesting - Tumblr.. a few swift clicks and he was hooked and trawled through blog after blog, post after post! However, work was not far from his mind and he typed in laughter.. more trawling and he stumbled across something interesting. ‘Tickling Blogs’.
He immediately ran to his superiors with his proposal. And this went up the chain quickly to those with the powers that be.. “Adults are the future. Not to scare like the old days, but to tickle!” They explained.. “there are hundreds of posts asking for tickle monsters to tickle them.. this could be incredibly lucrative” and they had a presentation demonstrating their case and backing up their claim.
Heads nodded in agreement and plans were put in place and soon a new department and specialist scare floor were commissioned for immediate deployment. Hiring adverts filled the street of Monstropolis..
“Tickle Monsters wanted - Apply Within”
They read, and the monsters answered the call. The initial fear of human interaction a thing of the past, a myth that was untrue, and now the older generations could hold the key. Before long, the doors to the rooms of lees around the world were sourced, created and loaded into the factory’s door storage warehouse ready for opening night and the launch of this new power source.
Then… it was time! The lights on the new scare floor dimmed and the doors arrived at their designated stations. Each lees preferences and ticklish spots matched to a monster suitable. The monsters’ assistants getting the meticulous paperwork with a breakdown of that lee’s key spots for maximum effectiveness in laughter output. A new leaderboard on the far wall flashed into action, it read zeroes currently, but competition amongst the tickle monsters would see them making every effort to succeed in their tickling tasks. Moving them through the rankings quickly. They wanted the title of top tickler.
The monsters made their final preparations, brushed their feathery tails for the feather ticklish lee, sharpened nails for the scribble tickle attacks and flexed their claws ready for fast nibble squeezes. The foreman of the floor shouted “monsters ready!” As everyone took their places.. a timer ticked down from 10…
3… 2…. 1….. a buzzer sounded and the lights above the doors glowed a bright red showing their activation and the doors to the human world swing open.
A new era for monsters inc had truly commenced.
