15 items or less? Count your groceries
One day, I headed to the grocery. I had maybe 9 or 10 items, so I headed to the express lane, which is 15 items or less at my market. There are a handful of people there, but it’s mostly empty overall.
The second I start unloaded the basket, the cashier makes eye contact me and says, “Is that less than 15 items?”
I replied something along the lines of, “Uh, yeah I’m pretty sure,” assuming she was kidding.
She gave me the nastiest glare and demanded, “count them.”
Again, assuming this was some rude joke, scoffed and finished unloading. She kept glaring at me, and once again demanded that I count my items before she rang me up.I humor her and slowly count out my items, and lo and behold, I have well below 15 items.
Right as she’s done aggressively ringing up my items I say,
“Oh, and this please.” tossing a pack of gum onto the counter.
She rings it up.
“Oh, this looks good, too.” A Kit Kat is added to my haul.
This continues until I’m left buying 16 items from a very frustrated cashier at the 15 items or less lane.
I left and enjoyed the first of 7 treats on my walk home.
EDIT: 15 items or fewer, not 15 items or less. My dreams of grammatical perfection will continue to elude me.
EDIt: yes, I get it. 15 items or fewer. I’m actually pretty sure most signs in New England say “15 items or less,” and I also don’t have an impeccable grasp or grammar so let a girl live.
Make fun of a cashier with a speech impediment? Enjoy some extra time in line.
I was at a Craft Store in my town, and it wasn’t too busy, but only one register was open. The cashier, a teen aged girl, I could tell was working as best as she could. The process was a tad slower however, because she had a stutter, and a bit of a lisp.
As she worked through the line, asking the usual questions probably mandated by the big wigs (I’ve worked in retail, it’s a thing), the man behind me began to huff and puff. He muttered something about having places to go, he was in a hurry, etc. I ignored him, until I heard him start to mock her to his kids.
W-w-would you l-like y-y-y-y-y-y-your reSCHKeet?
The kids began to laugh. It really made my blood boil. Especially since I could tell the cashier heard his mockery. That really made my blood boil. When a person doesn’t respect retail employees as people, it’s the best way to tell whether a person is an asshat or not.
So, when it was my turn at the register, she asked me in a small voice “Are you a member o-o-of the rew-w-rewards club?” And I looked smugly at the guy behind me, and back at her.
Me: The rewards club? Oooo that sounds great! Please explain it to me?
She seemed surprised at first, but then looked at the guy behind me, and then it clicked.
I have never given my information so slowly in my life. Never had I asked as many questions as I did. She smiled and answered my inquiries, while the guy behind me was seething.
Him: Can you hurry up, please?
Me: And miss out on these great rewards? As if!
I only held him up for about 5 minutes… but wooo child, it felt so good.
The first American novel to sell one million copies was Uncle Tom’s Cabin, by Harriet Beecher Stowe. This is all the more impressive because the novel first came out for free, in serial form.

My family supports Trump.
All of them. My parents, my siblings, my nieces and nephews, and my extended family. I don't, but each voter is allowed to formulate their vote based on their own beliefs. I respect them for it, even if I don't believe Trump is an acceptable candidate. "Trump represents the average American man,” they've argued. “And you’re brainwashed if you believe otherwise.”
Well, I like to point out, he’s in the top 1%. How can he represent the average person? How am I brainwashed if I question our candidates? I’ll point out a bunch of various reasons why Trump would be a terrible choice, and they just sputter before saying that I’m young so I don’t know any better.
“Hillary’s top 1% too,” they reason intelligently. “But she’s corrupt. Look at what her husband did in the White House. Look at the email scandal.”
And Trump isn’t corrupt? And what does Bill's adultery have to do with Hillary's ability to make decisions?
Both of the candidates have done some very obviously questionable things. Where’s Trump’s tax information for example? How about the numerous accounts of rape or sexual harassment filed against him that the media isn't reporting?
“Oh, you just don’t like him because of how he speaks.”
They’re right. I honestly don’t like him because of how he speaks. I also don’t think he can control his temper. I don’t think he speaks clearly. I don’t think he speaks intelligently, let alone professionally. I also don’t think he has any knowledge about how to run a country. He has no political experience. He’s bankrupted six of his business ventures, the only successful business being one he’d inherited, so I’m worried about the direction he’d take our country if he ran it like a business. I don’t like how he treats women, or how he talks about his own family. I don’t appreciate how he condones violence at his speeches. I don’t like how the media doesn’t pressure him for answers like they do Hillary. I don't like how the media doesn't treat Trump the same way as Hillary. I don’t appreciate how he won’t tell us SPECIFICALLY what his plans are, and I don’t appreciate why he won’t explain the reasons for his beliefs.
Aside from all that, the main reason I won’t vote for him is because I have too many values that differ from Trump's.
I support LGBTQ; part of their plan is to retract the marriage law and make all those LGBTQ couples who were previously married void. I support Black Lives Matter. Trump does not. I support equal rights between the sexes both within the workplace and in daily life. I’m all for green energy. I think we should stop outsourcing jobs overseas. I don’t believe we should build a border to keep people out when this country was founded by illegal immigrants. I think we should make the process easier to become a legal citizen. I believe in gun control: especially after what happened last June with the largest mass shooting in American history. I believe in job reform, and that we should raise the minimum wage to living wage. I don’t believe that we should be strict on Muslims because I don’t fear them, because there’s no reason to fear them, and history has already seen what happens when you target a single religion or race. Look at the Jews/Gypsies/Homosexuals in Germany during WWII, or the Japanese American internment camps after Pearl Harbor. History shouldn’t repeat itself because we should be learning from it. Instead, yet again, the educational system within America fails us. I believe that also needs to change.
I don’t want a country to be run by the fear and hate that Trump inspires.
That’s besides the point, however, because Hillary is also not without her faults. The problem I mainly have with her is that she has a poll candidacy, and changes her plans based on the values of voters. This means that she doesn't truly believe what she's advertising. Ten years ago, for example, she "was" very biased against people of color. I don't want her as a president because a person who says one thing but believes in another is dangerous. She won't be committed to the decisions she makes when she leads this country. The main reason I'm going to vote for her is because no third party candidate is going to win, and Trump is more dangerous than she is. A person who says they're going to do something like what Trump will do, blindly believes completely in what they're saying without any reason, and has the gall to actually try to do it is incredibly more dangerous than anything Hillary will try. Trump is a loose cannon. That's why I'm voting for Hillary and not third party. Regardless about this country having a third or forth party option, realistically the US is a heavy two party system. There won't be enough voters to win third party, and splitting the votes this late in the election could give Trump the upper hand. Putting my vote to anyone else gives Trump the better chance of becoming president. It's a plus that Hillary has similar values in mind despite whether she believes in them or not. Hillary has had a lot of political experience before. She knows diplomacy. I don't believe Hillary will hurt this country like Trump will if he becomes president. I don't think she'll be a good president, but I'm beyond terrified enough of what Trump is capable doing in the name of making this country great that I'll vote for her.
being bisexual and having different feelings when ur attracted to guys than when u are to girls is so hard to explain bc being attracted to a guy is like “ah” and being attracted to a girl is like “oo” but that doesn’t make any sense to anyone but me
