alright, so maybe ventus is… a little confused, here. he used to live in the golden ward before something or other happened, right? and now he… doesn’t?
well—okay, sure, that’s not a problem. he can work with that as long as he goes and regains his footing, and that should be a breeze.
( not that it doesn’t hurt, being cast away from home again, but… there’s gotta be something good to it, right? )
it is this exact frame of mind that pushes ventus into facing the unexpected, in the unexpected, nonetheless: in a narrow alleyway in archimedes ward that traps him in spite of its many entrances, and shifting towards a defensive stance on one end against someone he had never expected to see again, his hand hovering over the wooden sword and brushing past the affixed chain.
…there’s a very high chance that that sword won’t do anything to help. ( it doesn’t stop him from staying his hand close to the handle, or keeping the sword a few seconds away from his heart. )
‘ i don’t understand, ’ he nearly says; ‘ how are you here? ’ he almost asks, as if the question hadn’t been answered the last time he inquired it.
“ I’m not going to fight you again, ” he resigns, because in the end, a chance encounter, a word exchanged from one to another, is more unavoidable now than ever—and it’s merely what he does or what happens next that he can try to change.

Welcome back to scenic Isola Radiale, Ventus!

who knew a meaningless war would turn into this? the fear of losing yourself - better yet, to the dark, a fear you’ve braved yourself through once and never wanted to endure again - a narrow set of escapes from mists and shadows, all the same as you but yet… not.
it wasn’t anything you weren’t quite used to, no, but…
well. it was more of a different thing entirely.
then, suddenly, on the thirteenth day ( the thirteenth, of all numbers, it doesn’t settle right with you, not quite after the last battles, ) after running and clashing and a darned desperate tangle of hope and cooperation and barely-won success, everything had changed. the tides had somehow turned in the kingdoms’ favors over the shadows and essair, whoever had tried to rise from the depths - all because of the stranger swathed by silken hope.
granted, all of the words spoken were corny and cheesy, the chants echoing from a stranger and rippling through the city merely derived from the basis of moving forward, and working together, and living on, or however else you could describe the themes of it, but…
well, fairy tales have only taught you to believe and to hope. it’s a hard thing, even when it’s a lesson you forgot, but even now -
even now, you have to.
and so you stand now, keyblade at your side and gripped harder than before, glancing up at a road inlaid by foes against you. it’s not an optimal situation, no - after all, it’s always nicer to have a friend and rapport by your side, or even merely another helping hand - but you can deal with it. after all, the worlds back home have trained you - so even if you have to stumble on the ground and fall back again, you can get up more than a couple of times.
and, besides, you’ve fought worse before -- !!
… alright, well, maybe sometimes that was with friends and sometimes it wasn’t, although your friends were your power and all, but - ok, you know what? it’s fine. you’ll be fine.
yeah. even if your mind might have doubts about it, it’ll be fine - because in order to think of a ‘future,’ it has to be.
it’s just up to you, here, in this very moment, to make sure it is.
you draw in a breath. three seconds until you face it all.
the monsters closest to you take sight of you; you glance back at them. two seconds until you clash again.
they move towards you - wraiths formed by shadow, limbs moved by thin strings of fog, all connecting to something far, far taller than you, with maws of poison and arms hotter than coals. one second until they begin to lunge.
zero seconds.
the breath wisps rapidly into the air, and you run right under it just as quick. the wind hurls past you and around you and locks on just as you do, and then -
and then, holding your heart in your hand and your hand to a key - a key to the future incoming, for all you have and have to find - the air fills with wings, and your heart bursts with light.

ventus doesn’t tend to enter eriol a lot, mostly because it never really crosses his mind to enter and it’s a lot harder to stay undercover at night, but when he does, it’s always in some way appealing.
living here would’ve been nice, maybe. a general view reminds him more of a friend than his own interests, so talented with the sort of arcane work that you found in xalphina that she could fit in with some ease.
but a greater scope finds things that he’d be interested in anywhere – here, spirale, or merely home itself. there are lines of shops in some streets, some ever the intriguing, and he takes to passing when he can. on this day, one of the stores seems quieter — and another seems to be looking at it all the same.
he looks towards them for a moment, noticing the wings on her back and running through his knowledge of this land and who tends to live where, and then figures to ask: “ Hey, sorry to bother, but – is this shop normally popular? The lines I’ve seen here on other days look like they could last until the next morning! ”

exploration and escape isn’t a terribly hard thing — well, at the very least, finding your way around after the latter isn’t, depending on where you wind up. unfortunately, when it’s a forest - especially one as dense as this - it’s harder to find your way home, magic or none to help.
over time, you push through the flora, unsure where exactly you are – and then, when you’re about to try a different direction, you stop, looking around yourself. you accidentally realize there’s someone up in one of the trees looking down on you, though…
hm, does anyone normally position themself up in a tree so… oddly? you’ve never really seen anyone sit on the branches like that before, where most if not all parts lit by the sun have been completely avoided. you pause for a few seconds before eventually waving to ask:
“ Uh… excuse me? You’re not lost, are you? It just seems kinda odd to be sitting up there like that. ”

as you cross through the streets of eriol, your breaths calm from panic to normal, and the sound of footsteps recedes the very same. it was hard enough getting past the kingdom borders and guards, but now you’re here — and you suppose it’s not the worst place you could hide for a while. at the very least, if you’re to be stuck here for the night, then at least it’s easy to find your way through.
eventually you rest and take a seat, running your hand over the surface of the leyline, then quickly pulling it back. the essence fades on your fingers, twinkling away under the sky. before long you hear footsteps again, though the lack in urgency lets you assume it’s not another guard out for your skin.
their steps stop near you and you turn, noticing they’ve taken a seat. he seems a draken, probably, so it’s also likely he’s more accustomed than you – or at least, likely knows more than you. either way, the quiet is suddenly draining, and you choose a topic louder than silence instead to end it.
“ So… sorry to ask out of nowhere, but these streams help power magic and the city, right? ” it’s… kind of weird to see, actually — not for any strong reason, just that it’s not visible in any of the other kingdoms. you wish you knew why, just a little bit, but you think you’d need to find an actual native resident for that answer.
guess who got news earlier that he’ll be in a college prep program for the next three years @ school !! (spoiler: that’s me !!!)
…unfortunately that means i have… one… two… three books for summer reading/hw ! this means as soon as i finish finals and am able to i’ll be focusing more on that and selfcare over summer as it passes. add to that other writing plans + the fact i might be managing 6 rp blogs by next week and ! well !!! i can’t guarantee i’ll be hyper active for the next while here ;v;
i’ve been doing starters as soon as i generate ideas, so i’m sorry if i skip you — i’m trying to think of a fitting idea first, and it’s been varying degrees of difficult on all blogs involved ! thank y’all for your patience, it’s really appreciated, finals/end of school prep seems to be going well! i’ll see you all in some time !!

it’s taken no time at all for you to explore your new “home,” in a sense, and in time… well, you’ve covered most of the bases in the area you need to. the next thing on your list is definitely to get a better grip on the kingdom boundaries, and all that lays in and in-between. and that should be easy! you’ve navigated other worlds and lanes all around, after all, so now…

now, you think, after a while, no, you already passed that tree. you kicked up some dirt and scribbled a deeper cut in the space with your boot earlier.
yep, you’re definitely lost.
you lean back on the tree trunk, a sigh closing your eyes. when you reopen them, you look around again, noticing someone else nearby, glancing at… something, what you assume is a map or plain paper.
for a while, you’re silent. finally, you manage to say something, trying to catch their attention. “ Hey! …Uh, you a little lost, too? ” hopefully you haven’t just embarrassed yourself by asking, but.. it doesn’t hurt to, does it?
this is terrible. how can you be a threat on sight to some guards and nothing to others the next? you can’t make heads or tails of it, waving the thought aside as you squeeze through an entrance charred through a knob in the oaken wall.
well, at least you can affirm to yourself this is airaisal. it’s not exactly as if the great woods you’d barely lost the guards and plants in hadn’t tipped you off earlier.
with a sigh of relief, you take to exploring, sticking close to the walls and corners of buildings as you do. there’s a lot of strangers here, none you can quite recognize, but as you stop for a moment’s rest, you notice a few passing by. of one of them…
you squint for a second. that’s a familiar outfit, a familiar appearance, just like it were out of –
“ Sora, over here! ” why, it can’t have reminded of anything but a dream — of both history’s monsters and scares and familiar faces alike! you run to catch up with the other quick, not stopping once after to give break before you speak. “ So, this is where you’ve been since we got here, huh? ”
( well then, you suppose the ‘scattered on the map individually’ theory was right after all! )

a human boy from the opalarian empire. as the npcs should assume, he’s a wanderer who tends not to be where exactly he should belong. he sees no point in their warring, and feels incredibly bad about the need to even white lie about his reasons for crossing - which have begun to fall under trade and mere exploration, even if they’re not quite believed. if found outside the empire territory, he’s most likely gotten in through incredibly illegal (though not necessarily evil or harmful) means.
most prominently will be seen looking for friends or friendly faces. you can find him almost anywhere, so long as it’s not in a jail cell or five seconds from respawning.
( he can’t keep doing this. this is too many wars, guys. he’s seen two already and even if he doesn’t remember one, that’s screwed up. he’s not a fan even he didn’t remember either of them! unfortunate that he can’t knock some sense into npcs with his sword or his words.
also, failing to save the city was a terrible time. he was certainly conscious, but. it’s hard to do things with that same sword and little else ability! he’s hoping there’s a way to save them all again. )
magic abilities. retains cure from canon; gains barrier (def), blessing (att), light, and lock/open (uti).
physical abilities. still incredibly fast and evasive, because that’s a thing you have to keep up when you’re running from guards who hate you, apparently!
weapons. the wooden sword with a keychain attained upon arrival in isola.
other. god i don’t know what he’s wearing but imagine it’s fantasy stuff i don’t really know? he’s still baby it’s relatively the same
