Historically, representations of Africans and Africa have been over-digested into simplicity by the perspectives of mainstream producers or more simply, wholly ignored. Comic books are no exception. Marvel artist Afua Richardson, derides “lazy” images of “barren wastelands or the dangerous mosquito-ridden jungles of the Congo.”
