I have just seen The Avengers.
Bear in mind that I have not yet seen Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, or The Hulk.
THAT WAS FREAKING AMAZING I CAN’T EVEN FIND WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW GOOD THAT MOVIE IS HOLY GEEZ I WANT TO GO SEE IT AGAIN IF THERE WAS ANOTHER SHOWING RIGHT NOW I’D SAY LET’S GO DO WANT.
That is to say, it’s an extremely well-done superhero movie with a fast pace, witty dialogue, great explosions, thrilling heroics, and lots and lots of pretty to watch.
I can’t quite make up my mind who is the prettiest - Captain America, Thor, or Hawkeye. The Hulk is also rather pretty when he’s not hulked out. I suppose Iron Man is somewhat pretty too, but as one of the only women in America who is not remotely attracted to RDJ it’s a difficult call for me to make. (He is, however, a perfect Tony Stark. I’m honestly not a big fan of his, but he really is great in the part.) Black Widow is also very pretty but in a completely different way that doesn’t do much for me.
What am I saying? Loki is the prettiest. Well, no, he’s not, but he is a gallon of fun to watch. I absolutely want Tom Hiddleston to play my novel’s bad guy if they ever make a movie out of it.
Oh, and Sam Jackson as Nick Fury is - well, it’s Sam Jackson playing Nick Fury and I really don’t think anything else needs to be said.
The tension between Black Widow and Hawkeye is delightful. The tension between Stark and Rogers is only slightly less so.
Massive props to the chick who plays Nick Fury’s right-hand woman; I think her name was Martin but I’m not positive. I found myself kind of emotionally invested in her character simply because she’s so freaking badass and committed to her job. Reminded me of Riza.
Massive props also to Agent Coulson.
My only complaint had nothing to do with the movie itself. Someone insisted on bringing a very small child who alternately screamed, cried, and giggled. I had to step over the kid to get to the bathroom because she was letting him play on the stairs. I was very close to getting an usher when she finally took him out. Seriously, is getting a babysitter that hard?
But yes. Freaking awesome movie and I can’t wait to see it again.
