it wouldn’t be to anyone’s surprise that jughead found himself positioned by the dinner table, collecting a plentiful amount of french fries and fanciful street tacos. he knew veronica had to be of some influence , otherwise they’d be receiving the very posh end of the rich kid nightmare. taking his food to the barstand , he ordered a glass of whiskey -- although a voice in the back of his head advised against it. it’s often one he hits puts on silent daily. “ it’s kind of odd that hermosa is the captain of this party , or so i heard. “ his words were light , though he’d never imagine hermosa tugging veronica beneath her -- that seemed like a suicide mission, or on the verge of one. hell hath no fury than an lodge that feels caged.

“ i don’t know , chad-dick , but i don’t think you’re captain material if that’s what you’re trying to sell to me right now.  “ his smile is mocking and humoring the presence beside him with an wintry essence perfuming his jagged word. jughead only tolerated the pretty boy for the sake his friend – but even then that was stretching the line extremely thin. “ you must be desperate for company if you’re seeking it out over here with me , did your girl kick you to the curb already ? “ his brows raise with curiosity and his lips did a slight upward curl as he popped a french fry into his mouth.

There was no discomfort or irritation written over his features, just a pure form of amusement as the other decided to play with his name. “ Sometimes I feel utterly sorry for you, despite being a writer, you still cannot find the right words. I assume that your vocabulary could have been more enhanced if you actually paid more attention at school than at other people’s lives.” He commented with a smirk as he shook his head. “ Why she would do that, Jughead? I am married, don’t you remember? It is a permanent relationship and not a high school based romance. I just decided to check on you. Veronica has unlimited supplies of food but by the way you are attacking it, I assume that you don’t. Everything alright, Jug?’

Despite the fact that he was too new to find a source of control, sometimes he just needed to let his true colors breathe. Tabitha was taking a quick break from the karoke stage, and decided that she needed another drink. Probably not the best decision she had ever made, but she was already past the point of caring, so why not just go all out for the night? As she made her way to the bar, she saw Chad standing there and decided to say hello to him. As she approached him, and before she could make herself really known to him, he had snapped at her quickly. Taken aback in her drank haze, she would normally have a come back for him, but she was lost on what to say. “I was just coming to get another drink actually and wanted to say hi. So, hi.”

Unfortunately, the person was his wife’s assistant and no matter what happened between the two of them, Chad knew he had to respect those who Veronica respected herself. A sigh escaped his lips as his eyes met Tabitha’s. “ I apologize. I didn’t know it was you. Thank you for taking the time to greet me.” Was he her friend? No. Yet, he knew he had to treat her well. “ Do you enjoy the party?” he questioned as he raised one of his  eyebrows.

Betty knew the games that could be played all too well, and she knew Chad was one to play like he liked everyone in this town. When really, he could care less. But luckily, Betty knew how to turn on the charm too and fake her way through a conversation just as well. A soft smile pulling at her lips as he apologized and she shook her head. “Oh no worries, Chad. You must of not of realized it was me.” she said before she nodded her head, looking at her own glass that was quickly running empty. “Yeah, I guess we both need a refill. Care to join me at the bar?”

It was such a misfortune to meet  Veronica’s noisy friend under these circumstances. He knew he had to be extremely careful around her because it was always like that around the best friends. “ Yes, I didn’t.” he admitted as he carefully scanned her with his eyes, head to toe. “ Yes, we do. It seems as if I am getting quite cranky without the alcohol in my veins. It would be my pleasure to join you.” He replied with a charming smile. “ How you’ve been, Betty?”

Pepper found it a bit strange that she had just got into town and was already invited to a party, one where she hardly knew anyone at for that matter. But there was one thing about Pepper, and that was she was never going to turn down a good time and free drinks. The Lodge was quaint, as she looked around at the growing group of party guest trying to pick anyone out in the crowd she knew before she made her way to the bar to order a martini. “So, what exactly is this party for again?” she asked the person that was closest to her, hoping they had the slightest idea of what was going on.

“This town wasn’t made for people like us, Chadwick. That’s for sure. But I guess we are making the best of it for now.” she smiled. “I must admit, this place is rather exquisite, for it to be where it is. The Lodge’s always have good taste.” she agreed before downing the rest of her drink and placing the cup on the bar so she could loop her arm with his to walk through the crowd, but keep him close. “expanding your business? Funny, that’s exactly why I am here. Although, you are right about this being a place I wouldn’t enjoy. But i’m having a great time right now.”

“ For now? You know I would stay for as long as Veronica is here.” Their marriage wasn’t just about love, she was his partner before anything else and there was nothing Chad valued more in life than a loyal business partner. “ They do.” It did not irritate him that Veronica was using this name, she was the one who built a different reputation for it and she deserved the right to show it. “ You are expanding your business? How so? Is it something I will be interested in?”

link was uncomfortable and itchy in this outfit he had allowed his new acquaintance to dress him up in. though the worst part was how restrictive it felt. he was trying his best to reach out to others through this party as much as he hated it. though something about it felt off to him. maybe it was a person here inside the building or it could just be that he didn’t enjoy being shut in among so many people that had his warning bells going off inside his head. whatever the case was he knew he needed air which was why link was outside taking a breath away from the crowd. the reclusive man was already beginning to miss his horse and as he looked up at the sky he sighed in disappointment. the lights from this house seemed to dull the appearance of the stars. “ i hope you’re okay. “ he muttered into the night air to no one in particular. it was probably the the first set of words he had said aloud without being prompted.

Living in New York meant that he was used to being at the heart of the party, the noise and the gossips fueled him and he knew that sometimes there was too much to be missed if you were outside. However, he decided to go outside where he knew he might get some valuable piece of information and the night did not disappoint. He heard the words that left the other’s lips and he decided to approach him. “ Hm… are you okay ?” he questioned, hoping it wouldn’t scare the other.” You look different. I would say it suits you.” he commented as he took a sip of the bottle he was holding.

In truth, Ben had no idea why he was here. Polly had asked him to go with her and not wanting to leave one a friendly faces alone, he said yes. He didn’t know the Lodges other than their name. Frankly, he didn’t really know anyone in the town outside of the few regulars who came into the library. In a way, it’s what he needed given his current circumstances. But he still craved some sort of connection in this lonely world.  Ben had stationed himself by the snack table, he’d been getting several plates of random finger foods and watched the party unfold before him. 

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed someone approaching him. “Sorry, I’ll move, probably shouldn’t be blocking the table anyway.” He laughed nervously. “Sorry about that. The mini sandwiches are great by the way.”

A new face meant either a new acquaintance or a new enemy and frankly, Chad needed more of the former in Riverdale. He did not need people who he can trust but people who were either afraid of him or dependent on him, it was always beneficial for his business. “ Do not worry about it, you are not blocking it. I just decided to introduce myself. To be honest, I am here for the sandwiches as well.” He stated as he extended his hand in order to shake the other’s hand. “ I am Chadwick. “

Betty already knew a lot of people at the party, and was trying to talk to as many people as she could. When she got to someone she had only met a handful of times, she decided she was going to introduce herself, hoping that she could at least be friendly with the guy tonight.Taken aback as Chad made the remark, Betty tried to keep her composer, as to not cause a scene and get kicked out of the party. “Oh, I was just coming to say hi, that was all. But looks like you are a little busy, maybe you need another drink?” She wondered pointing to his half empty glass of whiskey.

Ready. Set. Action. The frown quickly turned into a shy smile and it seemed as if he was quite embarrassed by his reaction. “ Betty, I apologize. Sometimes I forget my manners.”  He did not want Betty to label him as suspicious yet, he knew the power the old inhabitants of Riverdale held – they could spread the gossips quicker. “ Hello and indeed, I might need another drink. Would you like another one as well or you are not very fond of alcohol?” he questioned as if he truly cared.

Finally, a familiar face, just when Pepper was losing hope. Taking a small sip of her martini as she leaned against the bar, “Ah, Chadwick, I didn’t except to see you in Riverdale.” she said with a light airy laugh. “Well, of course its about fun. But a random party at a Lodge in the middle of almost no where in Riverdale? Kinda weird, but i’ve been to weirder in New York. I’m sure you have too.” she said with a shrugged of her shoulders. “So what are you even doing here? I honestly wasn’t expecting to see you tonight, it’s been..awhile.”

“I didn’t expect to see myself in this..” there was a small pause as if he was looking for a proper description for this place. “ town either but I guess I managed to leave both of us surprised again.” The smirk on his lips grew as he shrugged. “Why not?  I would dare to say that the Lodges always had exquisite taste and for once there is a party I would enjoy…after all, I have you to keep me company here..” he said as he winked at her. “ I decided to expand my business. New York will always be New York but there is certain charm in this abandoned town. What about you, Pepper? Why are you here? It doesn’t seem like a place you’denjoy.”

Therefore, the presence of Pepper in town was more than welcomed. New York’s very own prodigy has been around long enough to know that the person with what seem to be animalistic survival instincts in front  of him, was someone he should befriend. It seemed as if Jughead Jones was the own responsible for the suspicions around town and they were spreading as fast as the grease on the other’s fingers. “ Is it?” The other was perhaps waiting for a piece of information Chad was not willing to give or  maybe for something he could use. “ Why would you think that, Jughead? Why would you believe she is the captain?” his smile grew wider as his icy hues pierced the other’s baby blues.

At first he was questioning himself for being here, it was unnatural for a figure like him to enlighten a place like this with his presence. However, the need to make connections and to warm up to those who perceived him as a foreigner in this land was stronger than his need to stay away from this. Observation was one of his key skills and a way for him to truly understand if they enjoyed the life they were living. Was it his duty to warn the girl about the dangerous hiding in the dark? No, it seemed as if she should have known better. Yet, there was a duty he had to himself – to succeed and for that he needed acquaintances. “ Excuse me?” he said as he approached the woman, eyes fixed on hers. “ If I were, I would not be thinking about drinking from these plastic cups.  It seems as if there might be something more than liquor inside.” @mxmonroe

The insult was ready on his tongue; he was a natural at belittling others. The people around this town, it seemed as if they had no sense of direction or purpose for that matter. The level of rising poverty showed it and the fact that their definition of entertainment was the current event. Hiram was a wounded Alpha, however, there were some things he was not wrong about and Chadwick began to witness it with his eyes. Yet, before he had the chance to challenge the person who dared to bump into him, he caught a glimpse of the other’s features. The defined jawline and the anger he could sense made him think of only one person, someone he desired on his side. There was no point in challenging him or offending him yet. “ I apologize, I did not see where I was going.” Despite the fact he was aware it was not his fault, the welcoming smile on his face did not show it. “ Sweet Pea, is it? I believe we’ve met before.” Briefly but yet it was enough to remember such an odd nickname. @swerpeant​

he felt a breath away from losing his fucking mind. “ the deja vu crap is getting old. “ jughead murmured as he held a red party cup in his right hand. everything told him to not consume the contents, setting it off to the side.  not enough time has flown for him to not recognize the ghoulies that took up nearly half the space in this building. “ number five . . “ a groan left his lips as his forest skies navigate the lower part of the building. punch bowl , masked characters surrounding them either dancing or chatting away about whatever masked fiends talk about.  “ only one way to find out what the hell they mean . . “ he wasn’t about to be a sitting duck.

The plastic cups which surrounded him showed the contrast between this world and the one he was used to. The ones occupying his hands were made of crystal but he couldn’t judge, his lips had never been stained with poverty before. Apparently  in Riverdale , one had to listen and despite the fact he was not even slightly interested in the confession the black haired man had to make, he had to listen. “ You refer to this.. event as a déjà vu, Jughead? How so?” he questioned as his eyebrows furrowed despite the fact he was certain he knew the answer already. “ It is quite interesting, don’t you think? The intimidation they are trying to create with the masks and this… game I would say?” his eyes dropped to the envelope in his hands, the number five written as if it was supposed to mean something. He had never been a five before, always a 1,he was not used to be at the bottom of the food chain. However, he was used to adapting and it seemed as if adaption was what was going to help him gain their trust.
