I love ur flipturn pfp! i feel like I don’t ask you about music enough (no more driving & giving you aux, lol) - are there any other artist, albums, or songs u would recommend or have been bumping lately?
Aww thank you! Citrona my beloved...
I've been listening to music mostly on CD's nowadays and mostly in the car, and the albums I find myself going back to again and again are Nirvana's Nevermind (top songs: Lithium, Territorial Pissings, Lounge Act, and Breed), Noah Kahan's The Great Divide (I've been on that shit like a junky on their needle since it came out) (top songs: Downfall, The Great Divide, 23, Deny Deny Deny, Headed North) and the Clash's London Calling (top songs: London Calling, Spanish Bombs, Jimmy Jazz, Lost in the Supermarket, Death or Glory). For you specifically my friend, I would recommend listening to Arcy Drive. I have a feeling that you would fuck pretty heavy with their album The Pit, and they have a bunch of other EP's that are fire, especially Roll My Stone, Time Shrinks, and They Don't Dance.
As my obscure indie dealer, what have you been listening to? I could always use new CD's in the library or just new shit to listen to
so I got into grad school today with my shitty 2.8 gpa and the moral of the story is reblog those good luck posts for the love of god
okay so i just got my dream job??? a week after applying to it?? and now i’m thinking….maybe this is the good luck post
…..not even six hours later i got an offer of a well paying full time long-term job with free room and board in queens in nyc, allowing me independence and a way to escape an abusive situation and an unhealthy environment
likes charge reblogs cast, folks, this is the good luck post
i need all the help i can get for finals
Hey so
the last time I reblogged this post right before I got a great job, in a permanent work-from-home position, with benefits, retirement, and a salary literally 3x what I was making before, doing something I really like.
So you know.
This might be the real one, y’all.
I could use some luck
idk what i need luck for but might as fuckin well
so soft it hurts

“Wasteland, Baby” by Hozier
Just threw together a quick lil something for one of my favorite songs (an underrated gem, in my opinion)
It’s pretty wild to look at the original Basic Role-Playing rulebook, all 16-pages of it, and then pick up the hefty modern edition, Basic Roleplaying (2023), which weighs in at 260 gorgeous pages. If there is an overarching trend at Chaosium in the last ten or so years, it seems to be one of refining and perfecting their classic tent pole games, and this is no exception. It’s everything the original booklet promised, and more.
It’s a massive expansion, primarily of “powers” and small mechanical systems for specific situations. In sum, the new material brings BRP in line with something like GURPS, though I think the result is a bit more accessible and…internally modular? By which I mean, I feel like the core GURPS rules are meant to be used in total, with the modularity coming from additional sourcebooks. With BRP, I don’t think there is an expectation of using all of this, but rather the intention is to pick the handful of specific systems that dial the experience in to the parameters of the players.
I really cannot stress enough how beautiful a book this is. Despite the page count and the density of the text, the layout feels open and welcoming. The paper stock has a very nice matte finish that gives the illustrations a richness that I find extremely appealing. And the fact that there is no central setting or theme makes the art a lot of fun. There are no rules! Page after page of illustrations whose primary job is to make the reader wonder “Oooh, how do I do that in a game?” It’s a shame that there aren’t more opportunities in TTRPGs to let artists go off like this. There are, alas, far too many artists to list here, and no clear credits. Loïc Muzy does the cover, though, a riff on da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man (who has been associated with BRP since the equally monstrous 400-page 2008 edition). A different Vitruvian variant (presumably by Muzy) heads up every chapter, which is a nice recurring theme.
one of the best purchases I've ever made (as a game designer and player) is my copy of BRP, sometimes I'll read it just for fun because it's a fun system to read about and play
happy birthday, Hozier!
