i’ve never been less interested in the “correct” adaptation of a book than in this moment. the entire rest of the season could be comprised of hour-long episodes of alicent bouncing on rhaenyra’s strap and i’d be like and what of it
and if next episode we get a parallel of rhaenyra protecting alicent against her council like alicent protected rhaenyra then what. if rhaenyra uses also viserys' name to justify keeping alicent alive as a cover for her own affection what then. or even better she acknowledges how well alicent ruled, directly contrasting how alicents council treated her, and advocates for her to join the council.
I gave her a chicken
"House of the Dragon" Cast Plays Who's Who | BuzzFeed Celeb
they're hiding something from us i just can't prove it
something so poignant about these being the colours we first meet them in. they`re wearing the same colours as when rhaenyra jumped down from syrax and said "she's almost large enough to saddle two" while she looks up at alicent in breathless wonder
and now its flipped. now alicent is looking up at rhaenyra with despair and betrayal. looking up at rhaenyra wondering if this is what they've come too
rhaenyra and alicent looking at each other 20 years apart
Wait a damn minute…
you can tell he thinks hes the shit
i detest how fans are hating on rhaenyra calling her weak and mocking for ...you guessed it... not being cold blood executioner and crying. emma was so good as rhaenyra in 3x2 but some of the fandom need to stfu. they are hating on her for 'wailing' 'weakling' 'sniveling' saying book rhae is better? HELLO? i have read the book too. book rhaenyra was weeping for her sons deaths for weeks on end which is NATURAL thing for a woman who lost so much in short span of time but is still trying her best.
ik haters are making fun of her even though everything during otto's beheading was as is meant to be, the despair, trauma, bare ugliness of it all. some people find the snot trail icky during the scene but that's the point it's so raw and ugly that it makes the scene more heartbreaking of what she had to do for finally sitting the throne. rhaenyra is not weakling or pathetic queen of snot or what ever, she is a woman who has lost so much and people need to leave her alone ffs!
Rhaenyra wasn't crying over Otto's death, she was crying over the act of violence in itself. She's never killed anyone before, we all know she has an aversion to violence and no that does not make her weak.
Reclaiming the throne could be seen as a triumphant moment but is it really when you think of how much she lost to get back there? She's grieving a lot in that moment, of course that is going to get to her. She's not pathetic for struggling or for showing emotion. Like you said, it's natural.
I loved the ugliness of that scene. The crying, the snot, having her miss the first strike, the hesitation in her walk, the way she couldn't find a comfortable position to sit on the throne. It's meant to be brutal. War is ugly! That scene represented that perfectly.
Emmas acting throughout the entire episode was incredible. Their theatre background is doing them wonders. They're so present in the scene which is why the emotions feel so real. They're not acting for the camera or concerned about how they look, they're giving the performance for the other actors around them so they can all feed off of each other's energy and it pays off.
love how rhaenyra gets all nervous around alicent even though technically she is the one who holds the power. having that power doesn't mean much to her if alicent doesn't approve of what she does with it
RHAENICENT AND THEIR DAUGHTERRRRR
the way they're looking at each other. i can feel the tension through the screen
Rhaenyra has never killed anyone before, it's no wonder she struggles with it so much. The pressure she must've been feeling in that moment, all of the eyes on her, Daemon whispering into her ear, the lingering laughter in her head from the guards moments before, the mocking comments Otto is throwing at her, the knowledge that the realm won't accept her as Queen if she can't do what is necessary. She has to tell herself it's necessary otherwise she won't be able to bring herself to do it. She is not a violent person but she is being made into one and that isn't an easy weight to carry.
"otto told me i couldn't marry alicent so i killed him and now the wedding is back on"
No matter which episode was meant to be the last of season 2, it would always end with them because it really is about THEM.
