Sitting, thinking, wondering.
Happy Valentines' Day. What did your Valentine get you?
Isn't life so crazy and great? Like how lucky are we to live! This world we get to experience is so full of wonder and beauty. Taking in every moment of a new experience is such an adrenaline rush, and are you really living if you don't just try it?! I have been so luckily to have traveled to many places around the world and meet such amazing people. Each time I travel, I learn so much about myself. My true, individualistic self. Sometimes I think that there are parts of our sould spread all over the world, and when you visit each place you gain a piece of yourself. I have felt especially closer to myself when I have visited places of my ancestors. The feeling is hard to explain other than, I have been there before and it feels like home. Maybe this is why some people are wanderers. Maybe this is why some feel so lost with their lives, because a piece of themselves is somewhere else in the world or they haven't had that feeling of home...the connection. Whenever I don't feel myself or I am down, my heart feels heavy and I feel this huge desire to travel. A sign that I need a part of my soul, the piece that is missing. So travel, wander - search for the missing pieces of your soul, of your being, your self. Say yes to new experiences, try new things, meet new people, explore. Live.

Salt water heals everything through tears, sweat and the sea.
Cheat day, meal, whatever you are calling it - stop. You should never be on a diet, but instead living a lifestyle. Make healthy eating a choice. Choose broccoli over mac and cheese, baked chicken over fried, a salad over McDonalds. Sounds pretty simple right? But what happens when you are craving something as delicious as pizza. HAVE IT! If you are living a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly you can eat whatever you want, in proportion. Now I don't mean you can have a cupcake every, single day but maybe every few weeks, splurge a little. What I like to do when I know I am going to treat myself is make sure I work hard at the gym. If you don't have the chance to make it to the gym before, you can always hit it after. So every month, or even every two months treat yourself. Have a piece of chocolate, a slice of pizza or a cookie. You need it to stay sane! Trust me... You don't even have to eat out to treat yourself. Although, it is nice to not have to do dishes, but cooking your own pizza or baking your own cake can cut back on calories. Look up recipes online, there are a lot of vegan, gluten free and low calorie options. Enjoy your treat, don't feel guilty. You deserve it. Just make sure not to overdo it, remember you are working hard for your body so keep it looking good!

My favorite exercises are basically anything that have to do with abs or legs. I love the burning-sore feeling you get the next day after a great workout. The feeling of not being able to walk the next day just gives me an adrenaline rush. When I am not sure what to do at the gym, or I don't want to do my Kayla #BBG workouts, then I usually always turn to my Nike Training Club app. Hundreds of different exercises and workout plans that really make you sweat. Here are my two favorite "Get Focused" exercises: Beach Legs Workout and Alpha Abs Workout. If you don't want to download the app, set a timer for 15 minutes and repeat the sequence until the timer goes off. (Each exercise is about a minute long regardless.) It is better to give each workout your all by focusing on your form and breathing. Going through the movements quickly may cause injury or not allow your muscles to work at the proper intensity for results. I like to repeat these exercises multiple times throughout the week - anywhere from 3-4 times. I also try and incorporate walking 45 minutes every other day on an incline, lifting weights and my #BBG workouts. Remember it is important to mix up your workouts, try new things! Yoga, kickboxing, Pure Barre are great workouts when you don't feel like hitting the gym. Walking is also key when you are trying to slim down. Walking on an incline at 5/10/12 and a pace ranging from 3.5-4.0, gets the rate pumping and burns fat! Sprints and running are great to keep your metabolism constantly burning fat hours after a workout - but be aware of your knees! It is important not to be afraid of lifting weights. Remember the more muscle you have, the more fat your body burns while at rest! Lifting weights means a leaner body!
