The 2025 Swordtember prompt list is here!
If you're unaware, Swordtember is an online creative challenge I started back in 2020. The challenge is themed around swords and takes place across the month of September. From 3D models to D&D campaigns, and everything in between- it's always a blast to see what people make!
As always, this is intended to be a low stress challenge. There's no need to participate daily (I sometimes sit it out entirely because life gets so busy this time of year!). There's also no pressure to follow my prompt list- I know other people put out some amazing lists (and you can totally just freestyle and do your own thing, of course).
During September I'll be rounding up my favorite entries on Saturdays (Sworderdays?) from challenge participants to share on Bluesky and Instagram. Just post with #swordtember ! I'm so excited to see what people make this year.
Here's the written out prompt list:
shell
moss
automaton
scale
bell

how do you go on to drawing character interactions without them looking stiff or awkward?? whenever u draw characters like hugging and stuff they always feel so warm and natural n like they have weight!
FIRST THINGS FIRST: if you want characters to feel like they have weight, they gotta have balance.
The second thing is to use references!! Use a mirror or photos when you can, but I often use duckduckgo and just google stock images. I don't use pinterest, but I suppose that works. I find it way more helpful to look at lots of images of the same pose at all different angles than to try to reference one specific image.

I've been resource gathering for YEARS so now I am going to share my dragons hoard
Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.
You have the right to be disappointed in Veilguard
You have the right to be disappointed because you have been waiting 10 years for this game and just wanted it to be faithful to what came before.
You have the right to be disappointed because the writing is an absolute downgrade from the past three entries.
You have the right to be disappointed because the devs refuse to take any kind of criticism on board.
You have the right to be disappointed because the new writers actively chose to undo the hard work their predecessors accomplished in making this series one of the most beloved of its kind.
You have the right to be disappointed because when you were ready to forgive the game's shortcomings due to its development hell, the devs just had to make those interviews and AMAs that shed some clear and unfortunate light on the truth.
You have the right to be disappointed because so much of what made Thedas what it was was brushed aside, ignored, or entirely retconned in favour of being as cozy and non-controversial as possible.
You have the right to be disappointed because criticising art does not automatically make you a hater or a grifter. It makes you someone who isn't blind to flaws. It makes you someone who can form their own opinion.
So yes, you do have the right to be disappointed in Veilguard. Because Veilguard, to me, is, unfortunately, a disappointment. No subject of hatred, no sin against mankind. Just a colossal disappointment. One that could have been averted.
AI disturbance overlays for those who don't have Ibis paint premium. found them on tiktok
how do you use these?
Put these on the top layer above everything, set layer to 'overlay' then adjust opacity. You can put it on whatever opacity you want but usually 30%+ is most effective.
The point is to obstruct the picture so AI can't read your image because AI counts every single pixel in your art
By this post alone, in less than 5 hours.
I need you all to calm the fuck down

Homie gonna share this
Tumblr is doing some stupid AI shit so go to blog settings > Visibility > Prevent third-party sharing.
also use Nightshade and Glaze to protect your artwork and images!!!!
here's a link to Nightshade
here's a link to Glaze
best combination is usin Nightshade then Glaze on your images. Glaze creates a protective layer and Nightshade poisons the A.I. software.
artists! nightshade v1.0 is ready!
(remember that nightshade does not include glaze, but they're working on an integrated version of both. so if you want both, use nightshade first, then glaze!)
edit: adding this info for those who do not know what i'm talking about. nightshade poisons ai models if your images are taken without permission, and glaze protects you from ai mimicry!
now go protect your art and poison that ai!
download nightshade
download glaze
Because i had a really bad week and need to vent on it a bit. People keep asking me for a new expression meme sheet and here you go after all those years. You can use it or not use it as you like QwQ just pls credit me. Thanks :3
Adding on to this lovely infographic:
Any "Tell me about a time when..." question can be answered using the same formula called the STAR method:
Situation: briefly (in a sentence or two), set up the conflict. Task: tell what your responsibility was in the overall work environment (i.e. were you a manager?). Action: list out the steps you took to resolve the conflict. Result: give the ultimate outcome.
For instance, "tell me about a time when you had a problem with a coworker."
Situation: At my previous job, I joined an already well-established team in my first year, and started coming into conflict with my manager over task management. Task: As a first-year associate, I previously hadn't had a ton of control over my own deadlines, and I assumed it would be the same on this team. However, this manager put a high priority on autonomy and was a bit more hands-off. Action: I took the initiative to meet up with my manager and discuss what her overarching priorities for the project were, and how my pieces fit into the larger picture. From there, I set up a rough estimate of a timeline for my major tasks, and checked in with her. We were able to tweak the timeline to make sure that one piece of my project would be complete in time for the senior associate to review effectively. I then broke that timeline down even further for my own reference, and sent weekly email updates to my manager to discuss my progress and keep myself on track. Result: Communication vastly improved, and we were able to finish the project with plenty of time to spare. I also developed a timeline template to provide to our intern, which helped her stay on track too.
[ID: Interview Questions (Translated): The interview process can be confusing because interviewers expect you to answer completely different questions than what they've asked. Here are a few translations for ASDers on the job hunt.
What they ask: Tell me about yourself
What they want: Give me ~3 sentences on your relevant experience, and then something complimentary about why you're interviewing there specifically.
What they ask: Why are you interested in this company/position?
What they want: Reiterate something (not a perk) from the about us page or job description and say that it is very important or interesting to you.
What they ask: What are you looking for in a new position?
What they want: Reiterate something that the company brags about on their website (not a perk) e.g. the opportunity to work with x technology or career growth
What they ask: Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with a co-worker
What they want: Tell me about a time when there was a minor, non-offensive disagreement with a co-worker that you resolved in a positive way.
What they ask: Tell me about the latest project you worked on.
What they want: Tell me about a successful project you worked on, that is relevant to the work we do here.
Job searching is frustrating! But with a little bit of practice, you too can mask your way to a position that extends your survival in this capitalist hellscape we call home. end ID]
