it's genuinely maddening how as soon as you start talking about youthlib as a transfem, nothing will really help your case anymore. it suddenly stops mattering how well-reasoned your arguments are, or how many of us openly talk about being youth liberationists because they were subjected to csa as children, it doesn't even matter if it's an actual child talking about their own oppression! no logic or reason gets through, there's nothing that will stop the immediate flood of accusations of being a child predator. the act of advocating for children's empowerment and liberation is seen as incriminating enough by itself. everyone's brains just shut down. if there isn't any dirt to find on you, they'll just pretend that it's there for everyone to see. optics is straight up an impossibility.
so, keeping in mind that i am doomed regardless of what i say, here is my new slogan:

It is, and that’s why it’s so important to hold onto things that bring you whimsy and joy, no matter how stupid or small or cringe someone else might find it. Pretend you’re Snow White doing dishes. Make tea in the fanciest mug you own. Put on dramatic music while sweeping because a you’re a dragon-kidnapped peasant. Go for walks and leave your phone. Admire the shapes of the clouds and the color in the leaves. Wear the pretty clothes and the pretty jewelry. Do things that make you feel good. Read, write, draw, sew. Get a little woodcarving kit. Try something silly and new you wish you’d had as a kid, make your own slime or whatever. The world wants you tired and alone and sad. Put whip cream on that drink. Make a smiling face out of your pancakes. Name your cat Lady Meowington and pretend you’re the loyal servant protecting the heir to the throne who happens to be tiny and demanding and without thumbs. Bring back the funny-thing-mentally-running-alongside-the-car thing 90% us apparently did as kids. Who cares.
You deserve joy. Give it to yourself anyway you can.

hi im yasha and i hate to ebeg again but ive been feeling awful just awful because of the pressure from my family and financial struggle and other things. i can barely get out of bed. i stopped answering their calls but im afraid the little support i have from them is gonna stop bc of it im extremely paranoid and sad 24/7 and university is coming up. im really scared all the time. im scared i wont be able to make enough to last me through the winter. ive been trying to save up but i always need more for medical visits and medicine. i dont know what else to do. at minimum i need around 300€ to get through the month.
White Fear has always been funny (ironic) to me. It's like, imagine a white person walking in the room, perpetually paranoid of everyone of Color around them, of being The Murderer because "look how strange they're all acting around me, they must be suspicious. And yet, THEY'RE the one covered in blood and holding the knife, the body count number floating over their head.
Like, Buddy, yeah we're acting weird, YOU'RE the one that WE gotta be worried about 😭. I'm scared of YOU.
To use a US specific example, it's like how there's so much fearmongering of being victims of Black and Latino men with guns and gun violence, a violence that white people usually don't even experience because they're not even in the same spaces.
But the demographic most likely to be a domestic terrorist, the mass shooters, the ones that find diverse places and murder people... Are white men. When I go to the store, to church, to work, to the movies, to school, the odds that the person who will walk in and decide to Let Fly is a white man! That's something we have to keep in our minds every day!
But somehow this has not made everyone that "matters" (I.e., other white people) deathly afraid of white men, despite actually, statistically fitting the mold, in comparison to the heightened stereotype of Black and Latino men being gun wielding thugs. Goes to show the power and projection of white supremacy.

Labor goes into labeling datasets that feed AI, training the AI on that data, etc. A lot of this labor is invisible to us. That is why I dislike the little magical sparkle that has come to symbolize AI. It is not magic, it is labor. And labor that is often unrecognized and underpaid at that

like how the fuck are we meant to get anywhere if when you mention v-coding the overwhelming response is "well if they didn't wanna get violently raped they shouldn't have broken the law"
Especially when that law is something like "Don't be trans." Or just a good prosecutor taking over a case and making their money's worth from whoever has a bone to pick with some random trans woman.

supermarkets cutting prices isn't proof that competition makes capitalism serve ordinary people. it's true that firms fighting for customers can make some goods cheaper, but you can't turn one possible effect of competition into an explanation of what the whole economy is organised to do
capitalist competition makes each company defend its position against the others. sometimes that means lowering prices, or it can mean cutting staff, holding down wages, squeezing farmers and suppliers, reducing the quality or size of goods, or abandoning places where shops aren’t profitable enough. it produces different results depending on what's most profitable. it doesn't guarantee cheap food and other necessities, and it certainly doesn't guarantee them at a price everyone can afford
it's not like there will never be problems with supply or that costs stop mattering under socialism, but socialism changes which problem society’s set up to solve. instead of structuring the economy around businesses making profits, we plan production around feeding people and using society's resources where they can do the most good. that won’t look perfect in every real situation, but it puts social need in command rather than leaving it as a side effect that appears only when it suits capital
