Dream •
Of Water and Witches
-Orion gazed where she gestured and nodded politely, still so curious about her. Wyetta claimed to be a healer, but yet… the power he could feel emanating from her suggested so much more. But him being cold?-
Think nothing of it, my dear. Living in the ocean, you tend to get used to different temperatures. The deeper the water, the colder it becomes. I don’t particularly have a preference, though human warmth brings some comforts.
-Smirking at Wyetta’s display, what caught him off guard was her lack of hesitation in touching him. She knew what he was and still, she held his hand. Was the forest that unpredictable, or… Orion said nothing, but rubbed his thumb over the back of her hand, careful not to add too much pressure. Her hand was warm, inviting… How long would it be again until he regained some of his own temperature while being surface bound?-
-Her remark, however, was even more of a shock, drawing a surprised, hearty laugh that resonated around them.-
Hobbies? Well, if you’re curious, while I was a human, I would spend my time reading or traveling. As a siren… Well, I was more akin to fighting for my own piece of territory in the vast blackness of the sea. What of you, Wyetta? Do you have hobbies of your own?
-Her eyes were sparkling, curiosity burning behind them.-
I bet you have a lot of stories then, from traveling. I wish I could travel more but...I don’t really have the option.
-She sighed, her hand tightening just a fraction on his. That was one of her biggest wishes, to see the world. To just learn. But with her father hunting her it was out of the question.-
As for myself...I uhm- I mostly just work. Collecting herbs and making charms- but I like to sing.
-She felt silly confessing that to a literal siren, but it was one of the few things she actually enjoyed doing.-
I used to read almost constantly- but ever since I came to the forest I can only ever get books so often. Whenever I sell my medicines at the town nearby I try and get a new book. But they always go by so quickly. It’s the only form of freedom I have.
-She realized she had said to much, panicking silently before exclaiming they had arrived.-
O-Oh uhm! T-this is the cottage....we are here.
At the rivers edge~
[Vela had been wandering for days in the woods, foraging and just traveling through when the snapping of twigs and branches behind her caught her attention. Startled, her black hair turned lilac purple for a brief instant before she recovered. That didn't last long. A bear was snarling at her. A Kodiak. This wasn't good.] 🍀
-Mathghamhain didn’t even need to stand on his hind legs as he bared his fangs at the small creature before him. He could smell the magic rolling off her.-
State your purpose small one. You are trespassing on our territory.
-Wyetta heard Ham speaking in his deep, rumbly way. Head whipping to find where he had gone she traipsed to his side, peeking around him to see a woman looking terrified. Wyetta tugged lightly on his fur, hand griping the coarse hairs with a gentle touch. She didn’t stop him, but watched the woman to see what she would do next.-
-Resignation glittered in Wyetta’s eyes, not to mention Ham’s. Vela felt her companion bristle and turned to him, his wolfish eyes changing much like hers. At the moment, they shimmered goldish-green, even his blackened fur bristled with the weight of magic being lifted that was so palpable. Vela nodded to her companion, who was released from his own magickal hold and joined her, his head down before he too, nuzzled into his mistress.-
Princess…
-A sigh and another nod. Vela shuffled a bit, running her fingers through Kaed’s fur, her eyes closing briefly as she felt the magic twist and turn everything around them. Opening her eyes, the fainted hue of obsidian painted them, her hair brightening with the oncoming shade of fire.-
We’ll stay. You have granted me aid, and in turn, I shall do it for you… It would seem as if I also have a confession to make. I… have enlightened you as to who my mother is, but, there is more…
-Vela inhaled deeply. Once, twice, opening and closing her mouth to find the right words.-
My mother has been sending… emissaries… to acquire me and return me to Court, to repent for my transgressions against the crown. Should I survive, I am to be whipped and ‘retrained’ in order to take my place on the throne.
-Waving her hand, Vela conjured a ball of magic, a shimmering violet, that morphed. It leapt from her hand and to the ground, spreading and molding into the shape of a winged woman, finally taking color. Dressed in what looked to be parts of nature and magic, wings displayed proudly, with raven hair and violet eyes, a cruel expression on the face that so closely resembled Vela’s. Her mother. Nicnevin, who looked to be addressing a group none of them could see.-
I send you with this, a subtle warning: do not be taken by my daughter’s tricks. She may be one of the Fae, but she is also half human, and humans lie. Incapacitate her. Bring her to me! Spare no one in your path!
-The magic dissipated, leaving them in haunting, echoing silence. Vela shuffled again, holding Kaedwyn just a little tighter as she swallowed the knot in her throat. Hesitantly, she looked to Wyetta and Ham, a sheepish smile on her face as she shrugged.-
Parents, huh?
-Despite the situation, Wyetta couldn’t help but last at Vela’s last comment.-
Parents...yeah no kidding. The forest will tell me if anyone gets close- but its not a perfect defense system. There are still ways beings slip in undetected.
-Wyetta could already feel her feet growing steadier as she stood with Ham, all that magic was quick to help her gain her strength. The wound on her shoulder might take a bit longer though.-
To summarize my predicament. My father killed my mother after I wanted to pursue my own path, she defended me and...well. He ended up turning to darker magic, he is a necromancer now. He brought her back from the dead- and long story short they are hunting me.
-She shook her head.-
I don’t know why he is so determined to have me. It would be easier if I could just live here, in peace.
I promise, you have my aid. Whatever I can do to help. Now that the wards are lifted you will see that I am much more of a fighter with my fire magic at its fullest.
-Wyetta made her way to Vela, setting a hand on her arm and giving a gentle squeeze of reassurance.-

A Chant for Protecting Yourself and Taking your Power Back
To all those who need recovery after a psychic/karmic attack, feel as though you are powerless and you need that little extra magical push, or merely for those who have had a not-so-good day,
this is for you.
Take back what belongs to you, little witch.
Your voice can mend.
“Calling upon the powers from
North, South, East, and West,
The four corners of the Earth, I take my power back.
Forsake all who threaten to do harm upon me,
I signal the universe to protect me,
and sever me from their toxicity.
Grant me the power to rise above where they had thought I had been sent to fall.
I thank the powers of North, South, East, and West,
The gifts of the Earth and the stars above;
powers of earth, water, fire, and air
with good to all,
reverse harm that has been done,
by the grace of my own magic,
this spell is done.”

💌Spell Envelopes💌
Y’all this is seriously a game changer!!
As a college student, I’m super broke and haven’t wanted to buy sachets for spells, but I have a solution! Just use an envelope instead! You can get a whole box for like $3 (or you probs already have some) and they work just like a sachet: you put your herbs, pieces of paper, little crystals, etc. inside.
You can also decorate them with designs, colors, and sigils that correspond to the spell you’re doing! The one in this picture is a love spell I made for a friend! Art isn’t your thing? Just use stickers! Washi tape!
You can carry them around easily and discreetly too. You could even mail a spell to a friend! And add a layer of enchantment to bless your postal delivery person while they’re carrying the spell :)
✨✨
Addition: As the lovely @crystal-w0lf added to the comments, you can also bury them for offerings or protection spells!!!

(Starter for Wyetta / @wandering-mist from Pandemonium)
She’d done it again.
Panne’s heart was beating out of control, her chest heaving as she ran; it would have been much simpler and quicker to just planewalk or cloak herself until the danger had passed, but she’d used up enough energy fighting her way out of the city alone - far more than she’d actually managed to acquire.
She could hear the pounding of hooves along the road, voices calling out threats and insults to her kind into the cool night air; the road was too exposed but the brush along the side of it was no easy going, and more than once she lost her balance, further tearing her clothing. She was *exhausted*, but the ache in her sides was better than the alternative.
She’d seen what others had done to demons too weakened to defend themselves upon apprehending them, and she had no intention of suffering the same fate.
The treeline of what looked to be a thick stand of woods loomed ahead, and Panne put on an extra burst of speed, brambles slicing at her skin as she barreled past them and into the cover of the woods. Behind her, the sounds of the few approaching townspeople that were still on her trail died out, amidst audible expressions of dismay, but Panne kept running, occasionally flapping her wings for the speed boost. With the circumstances leading her to be fleeing now she didn’t expect them to give up so easily.
It wasn’t until the only sounds that remained were the soft, ambient sounds of forest creatures that she slowed, stumbling yet again - and this time finding herself unable to drag herself to her feet once more. Every breath she took was another pang in her chest; it occurred to her that she’d sustained some additional injuries, as well - various cuts and lacerations from projectiles, a couple of clear burn marks from a more magically-based offensive. Panne lowered her head onto the soft grass beneath her, too tired to tuck her wings or tail or even the curled horns poking through her hair out of sight. The world around her was rapidly growing dimmer as the exhaustion and effort caught up with her, and the last thought that crossed her mind before they ceased altogether for some time was that of the impending guilt setting in.
She’d never intended to hurt anyone.
With a final sigh of resignation, Panne’s eyes slipped shut, and she knew no more.
Early morning was the best time to find mushrooms in Wyetta’s opinion. She was already bouncing around the cottage to get her supplies for the the days venture and dawn hadn’t even peeked over the mountains yet. Ham was always a grumpy gus in the morning, muttering under his breath while he roused and stretched. For a bear he certainly liked to complain a lot.
Today they were searching closer to the edge of the forest, normally undisturbed from the skiddish towns people. Lazy mist coiled around their legs as sunlight finally started to trickle through the dense trees and illuminating their path, and eventually, a girl.
Wyetta was the first to spot her, gasping and hurrying over to where she had collapsed on the foliage. Wyetta didn’t even hesitate at the sight of the wings, but the horns and tail that accompanied them were a bit more telling.
Ham’s hackles were raised as Wyetta laid a gentle hand on the girl and rolling her onto her back. She was cute but what was more alarming was the amount of injuries that littered her figure. Visibly Wyetta could spot scratches along with heavy bruising and burns spotting most of the girls form, but until Wyetta could get her back to the cottage anything internal wouldn’t be fixed.
“Wyetta this is a demon- you should not be touching it- we should leave.”
Magic was already gathering in Wyetta’s palms as she healed some of the cuts there on the forest floor, ignoring Ham while she focused. Wyetta skimmed her hands over the injuries hoping in her haste she hadn’t missed a more life threatening one.
“We aren’t leaving her here Ham! She is coming with and I will carry her myself if I have to!”
Ham snorted. “I should make you walk then….put her on my back.”
Ham crouched lower to the ground so Wyetta could try and tug the demon girl onto his back and once she was situated they set off for the cottage.
Panne awakened with a start, nearly tumbling off of the soft material she was lying on. Given the circumstances she’d been in just before losing consciousness, the panic was justified.
She sat up, wincing at the pounding headache that seemed to intensify after opening her eyes to daylight and the full-body soreness that she quickly became aware of. “Where…” Her red eyes scanned her surroundings; she was in a bed, a soft, cozy one. The room around her was neatly kept yet unfamiliar (then again, it wasn’t as she really had a home to return to, in that sense, so everything was unfamiliar). She wasn’t chained or anything, that was reassuring, and whoever had brought her here had seemingly tended to her wounds to some extent.
She considered putting her glamour back up, but then again considering she’d definitely had it all hanging out when she’d passed out (horns, wings, tail, the works) it might be jarring for whoever’s house this was to find her missing those attributes. In any other circumstances, she would have attempted to just slip out of the window for fear of coming face to face with another human with bad intentions, but she was too weak to even consider it - and, whether it ended in her needing to run or not, she did owe whoever had found her a thank you for not just leaving her out there in the woods.
Gritting her teeth against the pain that ensued, Panne slipped out of bed, bare feet landing on a soft rug covering a hardwood floor, then made her way over to the door. After crossing the threshold, she found a stairwell leading to a lower floor and began to head down it, bracing herself to avoid toppling down the stairs altogether. “Hello?” She called out ahead of her, hesitantly.
-Wyetta's head poked up the staircase, spotting the girl already halfway down the steps. With a small gasp Wyetta skipped up the stairs to her side to help her down.-
You shouldn't be walking yet! You have been out for a good while- I uhm-
-They got to the ground floor in one piece, and Ham was sitting by his spot near the fire place watching the scene with an amused expression but said nothing. Wyetta made sure the girl could stand on her own two feet before Wyetta was hopping around the space searching for a chair amongst all of her supplies and herbs.-
Uhm- you should sit down.....sorry hullo- I am Wyetta. Does anything else hurt? I couldn't- it was hard to ....help because you were unconscious uhm- in the woods. But w-we brought you back to our cottage...
-After Wyetta set the chair near Panne, she took a step back. Standing awkwardly before deciding her time was better spent grabbing a salve for the burns.-

-Mathghamhain didn’t even need to stand on his hind legs as he bared his fangs at the small creature before him. He could smell the magic rolling off her.-

-Wyetta heard Ham speaking in his deep, rumbly way. Head whipping to find where he had gone she traipsed to his side, peeking around him to see a woman looking terrified. Wyetta tugged lightly on his fur, hand griping the coarse hairs with a gentle touch. She didn’t stop him, but watched the woman to see what she would do next.-
-Vela, upon hearing Wyetta’s request, immediately went from concerned to deadpan in her expression.-
I… Wyetta, you’re serious? I just said… Ah, forget it. You’re probably right. You can probably get a better handle on it than most. As for these… people, of which you speak, why don’t Kaed and I stay? Just awhile longer and for added defense. If these wards are truly in place for your protection, then you must truly be in danger.
-With a sigh, the faerie helped the witch to her feet, easing her down the narrow steps and outside. Both Ham and Kaed were staring vigilantly at each other, but, true to his form, Kaed had a wolfish smile on his face. Vela raised an eyebrow in question.-
Now, what has you so amused as to earn that smile, Kaed?
-Her companion turned to her and snorted, shaking his head. His laughter was reverberating in his chest.-
It is nothing, princess. Simply asking the wit- Wyetta’s companion, HAM, if he’s had any more of his kind lately. Hibernation is long since passed.
-Ham said nothing, ignoring the wolf and his jabs. He chose instead to walk towards his witch, nodding in thanks to Vela as Ham nuzzled his nose gently to check Wyetta’s injuries. Wyetta slipped out of Vela’s grasp and hung heavily onto Ham’s side, wincing from the movement but this needed to be done. He watched her with his glittering obsidian eyes, a silent conversation transpiring in which it was decided that all the wards be relinquished. Ham slowly walked with Wyetta to sit down between the mossy roots of the grand oak tree.-
Okay, uhm....I should give the two of you warning. If...once the wards are down there is a strong likely hood that uhm... that there might people looking for me. And I can answer any questions after i perform this spell but....
-Wyetta’s normal hesitance disappeared replaced by somber seriousness.-
They are exceptionally dangerous.
-Ham sat down behind Wyetta, his large paws coming to rest on either side of her as she started chanting under her breath. The forest suddenly was alive, thrumming with energy as magick kicked up all around them. Reality became sharp for a moment, clear and still before an invisible weight evaporated from the forest. All at once the air moved- no- the trees. If you weren’t paying attention you wouldn’t have caught it but the forest changed its shape: becoming more of a maze almost instantaneously as Wyetta took back her full power. Wyetta’s eyes were swimming with blue flames, bright and powerful before it slipped away as exhaustion fell back on her shoulders.-
I can make sure the forest lets you leave if you choose to...go. I know you said you would stay but...it’s complicated.
