The Finer Things
I’m pleased then, love, as to keep such an entrancing beauty waiting on a mere creature like myself is unforgivable. Ah, I’m choosing the course, then? Darling, you flatter me. I do hope you don’t possess any allergies.
-Arms linked, he took his free hand, brushing his fingers over hers, admiring the smooth, delicate complexion, feeling her pulse thrumming through her veins. Enticing, delectable. It made Valerian wonder if her blood would be as sweet as he thought. Letting her take the lead, he cast a violet glance to her every so often, admiring the way her aqua eyes sparkled with that hypnotic smile.-
It’s beautiful, darling, but I’m afraid it pales when compared to you. Call me a biased man, but when you’ve had time to develop peculiar tastes, they tend to follow you wherever you go. As for the preference, I don’t think I’ve indulged in seafood for a few years, but I can admit I miss the variety and the flavors that accompany it. But why keep it a secret? Ah...
-This time, his smile widened, flashing white teeth in its tease along with a wink, and he brought his lips to her temple.-
Did you want to make this solely for the two of us? Who’s flattering who now, darling?
-Lips to her ear, he couldn’t help the deep chuckle that sounded from his chest, watching her reaction as they were led inside. Tanks of different sorts were scattered throughout, fish along the walls in high tanks, and large, deep ones through the center with various shellfish.-
We’ll have the Red Snapper Livornese, Shrimp Verde, Cedar Planked Salmon, and grilled Halibut with cilantro, with the finest lobster in your tanks. As for payment...
-Valerian tilted his head, hand reaching into a pocket and pulling a coin that seemed ancient, but all too preserved, handing it to the waiter.-
See if this is still viable. The name Raullac hasn’t been used lately, but... I believe some of my family still endorses this restaurant in particular.
-The coin worked, their meals free of charge. Leading Cassandra outside, he removed his coat, draping it over her shoulders, though he enjoyed the skin displayed. He didn’t want her freezing, after all, and he was a gentleman above all else. Tilting her chin up, his lips met hers and they found their table, lit with lanterns, torches around, and just close enough to shore to see the waves crashing.-
-Valerian pulled a chair out for her, then his eyes met the sky. Just from the change in wind pattern, a storm was coming, but wouldn’t arrive for some time, which was a blessing in disguise. Taking his own seat, violet eyes met aqua with affection and he took her hand, running his thumb over slender, delicate fingers.-
Forgive me, darling, it seems I can’t be a true gentleman, after all, because I seem to have to keep some form of physical contact with you. But if I may ask, what brought you to such a place? It’s lovely, almost as much as you, with a very pleasing atmosphere, though I notice not many come seaside unless they’re troubled. I hope there’s no burden on your heart, darling.
