We can comeback from those dark times and smile. To live another day is to have the possibility to smile again and with that comes the possibility to lend one to someone in need. Trouble is brewing, who knew the stew was this hot? We are divided but, haven't we always been?

Lines drawn between race, gender, religion some transgressions can never be redeemed

How can we come together when we lack the basic ability to educate ALL of our youth adequately

When will we be able to swallow our pride as a nation and accept that each of us is ignorant to many things?

Unable to feel for your neighbor because you never tried to learn him/her or accept the differences between you

Have we not been building toward an introverted society where the pursuit of self placates all

Muddled Thoughts

Trembles through the week as lackluster occupation lays dents to psyche/expediting doom and gloom of our days/Single and solitary are the pursuits/tailor made for destruction/Aggressive regression set forth on the path to the eternal grave/Flesh decays as bones remain/once the summer pays homage.

Escape the chains of a world so unlike your own. Child of ghetto design, brought forth by miracle of clashing worlds and times.

Eyelids closed as mind exposes itself to visions of falsehood. A Life free of paying to live. What becomes of a life without societal purposes? Would I then be free or chained to other horizons?

Struggle is Real

They told me the struggle was real that's when I dropped and kneeled for God, our lord savior, and keeper of blessings that diminishes all the stressing. Alleviate the strain, I asked. I pressed my knees upon the wooden floor hoping against hope that he'd hear my long lost voice cry out for help. A help I always thought I didn't need. Too strong for that type of surrender. Until my puddle of strain turned into an ocean of pain.

So I asked that he allow my brain some moments to relax and ease the turmoil that boils in my stomach on those days when all I want to see is the comfort of my home and the love of my family.

His reply was that the home is my corruption and I should remove myself immediately from that environment as he said I must do more. More to spread wealth to those poor in Monetary gains as well as Blessings.

Solo Viewing

Feel like making a Broadway trip this weekend, maybe catch a play. Preferably catch a drama next to a mama wearing a bonnet. We converse until it gets serious and I write her a sonnet. Backwards compatible cause she’s dyslexic but no amount of affection could glue us together for long. 3 months later I’ll be attending an encore, solo viewing, this show is on repeat....PLAY

Lately I’ve been wondering whether this nostalgia for past experiences are weighing me down. You see, I’m holding on to folks that I’ve grown past while they continue to dwell in yesterdays they can no longer grasp. As a result I’m holding myself back. In the end I’m mutilating my talents. If I continue on this path I will be the only one living with regret. The opportunity is slipping and its time to start gripping onto the path of forwardness. This is my apology in advance.

Internal Bleeding

I found myself at the border of life and death today. The blood pouring down my face after A fall of three stories. I’m alive but I am not well. You find yourself sometimes altered beyond recognition and that’s where I was today. I was void of all meaning, unprotected without armor. I'm typically only able to hit these points after a few shots of whiskey but the fall covered it without charge.

I’m concerned for my well being. There are times I drift into yesterday’s no longer my own. I fear I may one day become the emotionally disturbed man on the train, trying to convey all my ‘never saids’ into a coherent thought. The truth shall set you free they say, but they don’t mention the mental and emotional scars that come with it.

I'm thinking of You All

I’m thinking of them all. They rush through my mind like rush hour subway riders on the way to-and-from work. A collage of faces with various expressions trying to reach me. Like the newly paved road some are smooth. Others are filled with bumps like the city streets following a winter of snow. They are equally important. Without them I could not push forward. I aspire to achieve, carrying the faces with me. They are my saints, yet the only thing holy about them are their clothes.

I can not thank them because they no longer exist. They are just memories, memories that are stranded in time. Holding on like this should be a crime. For time alters memories and out of it come new perceptions. I defecate on their likeness too often, changing them with each turning day. They walked off the lonely road long ago to join the beaten path of destruction. But I will not forget who they truly were.

Resurrections

In 1773 the earth trembled from hunger and over the course of a few days it devoured the city now called Antigua, which for more than two centuries had ruled Guatemala and the entire region of Central America. In religious festivals Antigua rises from its ruins. Its streets become carpets of flowers patterned as suns and fruits and birds of great plumage. No one can tell whether the feet walking on them are celebrating the coming birth of Jesus or the rebirth of the city. Local people weave these street gardens--to make Antigua immortal as long as the fiesta lasts.
