ANOTHER THING about dark souls 2 was that the npc summons were fucking awesome (specifically the ones in scholar of the first sin edition)
like you would find so many scattered npc summon signs about in different boss fights and they would be random characters you hadn’t met in the story or anything, wearing mis-matched armor and using strange combos of weapons that didn’t need to make sense, almost like they were supposed to simulate the fun of getting players with random builds. imagine a guy with a bow and arrows, but he also has a shield for some reason, or a lady in a witch’s cloak with double studded caestus fists, or a woman whose name suggests she’s a cleric but her clothing and her fighting says sorcerer?
though, some are npcs you HAVE met, like benhart of jugo (the bluemoon swordbro) and lucatiel of mirrah (best girl), and you get rewarded for summoning them and having them survive the fight!
while not all of them were amazingly useful in fights (a large chunk of them were pretty much just meat shields/distractions), there were a few that would CARRY you, black iron tarkus style, like the LEGENDARY jester thomas.
you see this guy in a goddamn clown outfit and you’re like “haha, funny clown :)”, and then he OBLITERATES the otherwise threatening boss with his ridiculous pyromancies (he later invades you which is fucking terrifying unless you silence his spells lol)
and they had cool AI too! one called “bradley of the old guard”, a dude you meet in the no-man’s wharf area, was a knight who could use healing spells; he would use the “come here/beckon” gesture to let you know he was gonna heal you, then when you got closer he would cast the heal, it was goddamn cool.
felicia the brave was a heavy knight with a lance and shield, and she WAS fucking brave. stupid enough to straight-rush powerful sorcerers who still shred her huge health bar, but brave as hell, bless her.
lone hunter schmidt? a bowman in the black gulch. upon finishing the boss fight, he runs towards an item past a lake of lava before fading away, almost as if HE is the dead body with the item and he’s echoing his history
ashen knight boyd; you can summon him for a fight against a big boss with small adds, and what does he do? immediately sprints to the waves of adds so you can focus on the boss unhindered. what a guy.
maldron the assassin was an npc invader who would do stuff like putting on a ring to make him look friendly and then backstab you and run away afterwards, like he was a glimpse into the future of DS3 invaders. that fucker.
idk it was just a really cool system, and seeing an npc at a much later boss fight felt like seeing an old friend. made the world seem populated and full of questing heroes, even when you’re playing alone.
Bradley of the Old Guard looked up to and admires Paladin Leeroy’s strength and bravery.
Dark Souls Sentence Starters- Part 1
Cw: mentions of death. Change pronouns/wording as necessary.
“What’s wrong? Get a bit of a scare out there?“
“Have a seat and get comfortable. We’ll both be (dead/hollow) before you know it.“
“Don’t get yourself killed.”
“Where’re you off to?“
“I’ve only heard legends of such specimens…”
“I sense great potential, indeed…”
“It won’t be easy, but… I’m afraid you’ll have to look for someone else.”
“Well, you’ve got some nerve!”
“I’ll tear you to shreds!“
“Curses, you damn backstabber…”
“Who are you?”
“Well, this is unusual. You haven’t lost your head.”
“ I’ve no intention of escape. It’s safe here.”
“ But what’s there, really, to moan about?”
“ I was beginning to wonder when you’d come.”
“Have you materials? Go on, show me.”
“(Action)ing helps soothe my nerves.”
“Don’t let me wither away out of idleness.”
“You really help break the monotony.”
“Mind giving that to me?”
“ I’ve never seen one like that, not even back in (homeland).”
“It takes me back to old times.”
“There’s nothing here for you. Nothing at all.”
“… Do you find that strange? Well, you should!”
“No need to hide your reaction. I get that look all the time!”
“If you miss it, you must be blind!”
“Well, yes, quite understandable. Not to worry. I do not wish to impose. I was in the wrong. We’ll laugh it off, shall we?”
“You’ve been quiet these days.”
“You really are fond of chatting with me, aren’t you?”
“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you had feelings for me!”
“Oh, no, dear me. Pretend you didn’t hear that!”
“You’ve a strong arm, strong faith, and most importantly, a strong heart.”
“What do you think? Why not join me?”
“If you change your mind, the offer is open.”
“…Why?…Why?… After all this searching, I still cannot find it…”
“Was it all a lie? Have I done this all, for nothing?”
“… It’s dark, so dark…“
“ If a stubborn beast you be, I have no choice!”
“Are you a (profession) or something?”
“You’ve come for trinkets, have you?”
“This place is treacherous. Do watch your step.”
“Best of luck with your pilgrimages or missions or whatever you do.”
“Everybody makes mistakes. I’m not above it all, I swear!”
“ Hey, don’t look at me like that!”
“I didn’t touch any (object)s. No, not me!”
“Wait, did something happen to you?”
“Oh, does it really matter that much?”
“C'mon now. What exactly do you think I did?”
“You’re not making sense, my friend.”
“There’s a fine stash of treasure right down that hole.”
“The trinkets I’ll be stripping off your corpse, that’s the real treasure!”
“Let’s just calm down. Talk about things…”
“Oh relax, no more funny business out of me, my friend!”
“What, nothing appeals to you? Well, you must have poor taste.”
“Come on, you can do better than that.”
“Don’t forget to thank me.”
“ I saved them specially, just for you.”
“ Curses…I’m finished…”
“Whatever can be done?”
“Oh, still alive, are you?”
“Put some spring into your step!”
“What ever’s the matter? No, I can tell. You need me more than ever.”
“You have quite some nerve. Or are you just thick?”
“Fine, then. What is it that you need?”
“He’s a colourless sort, if you ask me.”
“Not that I care. It’s none of my business.”
“What could they have been thinking? But to you and I, it’s all ancient history.”
“You have to ask yourself: Does it really matter?”
“What? If you’ve something to say, then say it!”
“What now? You think this is my fault?”
“To receive a visit by one as lofty as thyself is a great honour indeed.”
“Well, thou com'st again. Thou art a strange one.”
“What is bravery without a dash of recklessness?”
“I’ve taken a liking to thee.”
Goldeeeeeen Retrieveeeeer! Guess who's back to torment-I mean- spend quality time with you. How are you and Vel? Not making too much noise, I hope.
Kasimir groaned into the palm of his hand.
“Not that topic again!”
The paladin, however, sighs, his shoulders sagging in defeat as he finally continued: “I’ve been busy recently, the holidays and all are a big occasion down in Eleum Loyce after all. Father needed me to stay and help with the celebrations.”

The best feeling in the world is when you carry a host who has 1 hp left through Midir.
Helped a dude against Midir a while ago. Boi was doing well till he ran out of estus, then he hid behind Kas who finished the fight for him lol. Love my boi Kasimir/Bradley.
OOC:
So here’s the thing about Bradley/Kas.
He may have his moments where he’ll stammer like a teen, but rest assured that in a fight he will probably break your wrist into a thousand pieces while smiling sweetly back at you if you’ve the misfortune to actually piss him off.
//For context, the host was a classic Havel Monster wielding the exile greatsword. He was getting his ass handed to him by Midir with almost every hit, though he WAS hitting the head (or trying to).
I was untouched mostly, save for getting scraped like twice till that point (hence the missing estus), which is DISAPPOINTING BECAUSE I CAN USUALLY GET TO THAT POINT FUCKING UNTOUCHED >:C
So Kasimir, do you perk up ,like dog does when it hears the doorbell, whenever you hear a bell?
“… whatever gives you that assumption?”
OOC:
Sorry about my recent lack of replies and all! :’D I’ve been caught up in playing Dank Souls III and Bloodborne, but now that I officially have a job and less time to screw around on my PS4, I should have them up more often.
I’ll also get to Leeroy’s character sheet soon jsalfsda.
Lemme know if I owe you some interactions or threads, I have all marked on my threadtracker.
