Saturday Morning w the Babes
It’s absurdly early for a Saturday, but as I sit here drinking my coffee I can hear H and Iz talking. H is squealing, and babbling, Iz is laughing, Roo is curled up in the bed sleeping. They’re playing together, and I’m able to take a moment to appreciate all that I have, the things I used to pray for. I will never take these Saturday mornings for granted. My heart is full.
After 5 years
We met 5 years ago. Here are 5 things I learned along the way:
-the right man will change for the right woman. Brock changed so much when he had heard my expectations for a future mate. 5 years later and he’s still the man of my dreams.
-dating is totally different when there’s a kid involved. I thought it wasn’t that big of a deal that Brock came with a little girl. We played it safe and didn’t date until we were sure about one another in order to protect her from getting attached. When we started dating things were different; we had to plan who would babysit so that we could have alone time.
-being engaged and not living together is uncommon. People often gave us weird looks or blatantly judged us for not living together to “see if you’re compatible.” We knew we wanted to keep somethings private for when we got married - living together was one of them.
-being married to someone who is the exact opposite of you is challenging. We are polar opposites in many ways, however we align on the core values. I have lots of friends and Brock has a solid few. But we both see the value in spending time with our friends. I love the clean, Brock doesn’t, but we both tidy the house together because we enjoy living in a clean environment.
-he is legitimately my best friend. There’s nobody who knows me like Brock. The curves of my body, the slight in my tone, the music I use for hype, the movies I cry to, or the dance moves I perform during short car rides. He knows me, all the parts of who I am.

Birthday Week
I have always taken my birthday so seriously. It’s a major event in my life, and I love celebrating it. This year, birthday week is a little different for three reasons: I just had surgery so I am recovering, we are in the middle of a pandemic and I have a three month old baby.
So this week will be hella tame, for instance, Sunday was celebrated with homemade baked goods, and my mama dropped off her famous shepard’s pie. I am not complaining. Compared to previous years this is the most “me” celebrations we have ever done; low key and relaxed.
I love home cooked meals, coffee dates, conversations over cake, game nights, and my vinyl record collection cycling through. Keep the coffee coming!
If you’re tired of kissing me, I’d better go.
