I don’t know how it’s like in the Western part of the world, and maybe there is some kind of cultural difference but here in Asia, we say this to the children under our protection as a way of greeting pretty frequently in our lives. We ask if they’ve been well-behaved, if they have been good. It’s something that parents (or really, trusted adults) say to their kids. Or like, something a teacher would say to their kids.

How anyone look at this scene and think that there could be anything else other than a guardian-child relationship between the two of them is really fucking with me. Like for fuck’s sake, this is something I would say to my THREE-YEAR OLD NEPHEW when I see him! And if I ever have children of my own, I would probably say this to them as well.

Yashahime really ruined such cute moments for me. These just look really nefarious and insidious now. I hate what they did to Sesshoumaru and Rin’s relationship, and I hate that shippers are claiming that antis are all Western fans who don’t understand Asian culture. If anything, speaking as an actual Asian, the fact that yall think that paedophilia is a norm here is very fucking racist.

I was stuck in traffic on my way to work the other night, and after calling my husband just to rant to him about it, my two year old snatched the phone and ran off with it to talk to me.

I asked him this exact thing.

“Are you being good for daddy?”

“Yeah!!! I good!”

It’s interactions like this that made me see their relationship as parental. And I always thought it was so sweet that part of his redemption was sparked by this little orphan, human, peasant child that he adopted. She was pretty much everything he professed to hate! And he LOVED her! He took CARE of her! She couldn’t offer him anything in return and he did it anyway.

Marrying her later cheapens the whole thing. It casts interactions like this in a weird light. It makes him seem creepy.

I’m just sad.
