When Is Amazon Prime Day?
The incredible savings will start on Monday, July 15 (midnight PT), and continue through Tuesday, July 16. If you’ve been eyeing a particular item but haven’t taken the plunge, Prime Day is the best time to shop, so be sure to mark your calendars. The deals will last for 48 hours only.
Historically, Prime Day has launched in mid-July, and unlike Black Friday or Cyber Monday, Prime Day deals last up to 36 hours. If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can sign up for a free trial just to take advantage of the deals. You may not find absolutely everything on your wish list during the Prime Day discounts, but it’s the best opportunity to stock up on gifts during the summer months. Expect stellar savings on tech like 4K HDR TVs, headphones, wireless chargers, Amazon Echo and Fire products, smartphones, and more. The fifth annual Prime Day will kick off July 15 at midnight Pacific Time. The deal event, which Amazon created in 2015 to celebrate the company’s 20th anniversary, has grown exponentially in the years since and promises to offer over a million deals globally. Amazon has extended Prime Day 2019 to 48 hours, surpassing last year’s 36-hour event, and the Black Friday–in–July sale could easily include preview deals that extend it even more.
The start at midnight Pacific adds a new wrinkle to the event as Amazon looks to build the sort of buzz that could drive middle-of-the-night shopping. To build anticipation, Amazon has already dropped early deals on a 43-inch Fire TV and a pre–Prime Day bundle that includes our smart garage-door opener pick. With pre-dawn deals available on the day of the event, early risers will have ample opportunity to grab discounts before they have to head to work.
Prime Day deals, with a few rare exceptions, are available only to Amazon Prime members. A membership costs nearly $120 a year, so if you’re signing up just to get in on the deals, that up-front cost will negate some of the savings. If you’re not already a Prime member, consider whether the benefits of a Prime membership (two-day shipping, Prime Video streaming, unlimited photo storage) will be things you’ll likely make use of all year.
