Hello guys! I don’t want to have to do this again…ask you guys for help but I know I can count on you and even though I feel embarrassed about doing this I’ll ask whoever I can for help. Well as you know I have been suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder since I was 18 and I can’t work outside my home, I try to work from home as I can but recently things have gotten worse (due to the pandemic) my freelance jobs are scarce, the stores in China I cooperate with are not selling anymore (one of them might fire me next month if I don’t sell anything) and to top it off my mother will go 1 month without working due to a problem with foot nerve fractures, she will have the foot immobilized and will walk on crutches during this period, as she is also freelancer, we will not have her money to help with household expenses.

Over the years I have spent on Tumblr, I have gotten fed up with seeing content creators use Photoshop for all the wrong purposes, and so I have decided to pass some of my knowledge on for entirely selfish reasons. Still, I hope this helps some of you to get over your fears of trying new software and allow yourselves to discover Illustrator.

GET ILLUSTRATOR FOR FREE
First of all, you might wonder what I mean by saying that content creators use Photoshop for the wrong purposes. Well. Photoshop is meant for bitmap, while Illustrator is meant for vector. What does this mean? As Adobe explains the difference in great detail here, but put it simply:
A bitmap is made out of those tiny squares we call pixels. When sizing a bitmap element up, it will get blurry because the information pixels carry is limited. Look at the example: the first picture is nice and sharp but the second is starting to get blurry.
That is because the first picture is at 100% (“its max potential”) while the second one is sized up to 400% (“way past its max potential”). As Photoshop is bitmap-based, this will happen with everything you create in it. Even and especially text.
On the other hand, the vector is made of curves and points. When sizing a vector element up, it keeps its sharpness no matter how far you go. Look at this example:
As long as I have this cube in Illustrator, it will never reach the max potential. I can make it as big or as small as I want without worrying about it becoming blurry. Hmmm, but what about text?
Yup, look at this bad boy!
And this is where we come across my first thought: Why work with text in Photoshop when you can do it (much better) in Illustrator?
Well. If your computer can handle Photoshop, it can handle Illustrator (which requires way less memory and ram). Furthermore, if your reason for using Photoshop only is because you don’t know how to use Illustrator, let me help you to change that. And if you have never used either, don’t worry; these classes are going to be very beginner-friendly.
this line, friends, this line, is such a pet peeve for me and i guess it's just another example of lost in translation. in it's original Chinese, this line was so much more pitiful and so much more painful than it's English counterpart. like there's so much of mo ran's painful backstory laden behind it.

originally, 'shizun, please pay attention to me’ was;
'师尊，理理我吧‘ or 'shizun, lili wo ba’
'lili wo’ or '理理我’ has a nuance that you just can’t find in english.
the verb '理’ is- for the lack of better words- to acknowledge someone’s existence, and can be as simple as a glance.
it’s basically the action for atleast showing barest minimum- i repeat, the barest minimum - of respect and acknowledgement towards someone.
when this is paired with mo ran’s begging, it makes the whole situation even more pitiful, because mo ran’s pleading chu wanning to acknowledge his existence. his pure existence.
he’s not asking for anything more; because he’d never been shown anything more and doesn’t expect to be shown more.
like, up until that point, he’d been living on the streets with his mother. he at least had her then. but, following her death, he ended up in an entertainment house, living in the kitchens, having to fend for himself.
no one would have even cared about him or showed him anything more than the bare minimum of respect. he basically accepted what he was given. after a while, he would have expected nothing more and took this mentality with him to sisheng peak.
his asking for that bit of acknowledgement would have already been overstepping in his eyes and it’s actually so fucking sad.
